Item #: SCP-5488

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-5488 affects and concerns numerous current and likely future Foundation personnel, special containment procedures have been put in place, modeled after standard ICP (Internal Containment Procedures). All references to SCP-5488 in all Foundation documentation have been seeded with Class B antimemetic infospores which root into the subject's brain and directly counteract the anomalous effects of 5488. If containment is breached, it can easily be determined through a short conversation with the afflicted and then re-established through application of the infospores.

Description: SCP 5488 collectively refers to the anomalous memetic events surrounding the fifteen (15) superb Foundation agents who comprise Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 ("Day Demons"). The anomaly affects every individual and organization which has come in contact with any member of this great task force over the course of their life, from the militaries of the ███████, ██████, █████, and █████████ governments and multiple individuals within them, to numerous members of the Foundation itself.

MTF Zeta-5's memetic properties were uncovered after a normal conversation between two researchers prompted a thorough review of all documents pertaining to Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 for unrelated reasons. It was found that inadvertently and unerringly, all documents which mention the Task Force will remark upon their inordinately great nature, often mentioning on their perfect university scores, multiple PHDs, or glowing physical state, even when unnecessary for the text of the document. This memetic effect has been found to occur verbally as well, with most conversations pertaining to SCP 5488-1 remarking at least once on their skill, abnormal success rate, or comparing them favorably to other Foundation groups and organizations. Any mention of the anomalousness of such comparisons will be brushed off with an assertion that the subject "deserves" such high praise, followed by repeated insistences that there's nothing unnatural about it.

These effects have been found to be dispelled by specially bred Class B antimemetics, which were then deployed through Foundation literature and documents pertaining to the MTF.

Foundation personnel assigned to work with or around Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 have reported higher morale, feelings of light elation or euphoria, and increased job efficiency, whether or not under the affect of the memetic properties. As there are little to no drawbacks to this, no effort has been dedicated towards containing this secondary effect of the SCP, though research is underway to see exactly how it is caused.
