Item #: SCP-5488
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-5488 affects and concerns numerous current and likely future Foundation personnel, special containment procedures have been put in place, modeled after standard ICP (Internal Containment Procedures). All references to SCP-5488 in all Foundation documentation have been seeded with Class B antimemetic infospores which root into the subject's brain and directly counteract the anomalous effects of 5488. If containment is breached, it can easily be determined through a short conversation with the afflicted and then re-established through application of the infospores.
Description: SCP 5488 collectively refers to the anomalous memetic events surrounding the fifteen (15) superb Foundation agents who comprise Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 ("Day Demons"). The anomaly affects every individual and organization which has come in contact with any member of this great task force over the course of their life, from the militaries of the ███████, ██████, █████, and █████████ governments and multiple individuals within them, to numerous members of the Foundation itself.
MTF Zeta-5's memetic properties were uncovered after a normal conversation between two researchers prompted a thorough review of all documents pertaining to Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 for unrelated reasons. It was found that inadvertently and unerringly, all documents which mention the Task Force will remark upon their inordinately great nature, often mentioning on their perfect university scores, multiple PHDs, or glowing physical state, even when unnecessary for the text of the document. This memetic effect has been found to occur verbally as well, with most conversations pertaining to SCP 5488-1 remarking at least once on their skill, abnormal success rate, or comparing them favorably to other Foundation groups and organizations. Any mention of the anomalousness of such comparisons will be brushed off with an assertion that the subject "deserves" such high praise, followed by repeated insistences that there's nothing unnatural about it.
These effects have been found to be dispelled by specially bred Class B antimemetics, which were then deployed through Foundation literature and documents pertaining to the MTF.
Foundation personnel assigned to work with or around Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 have reported higher morale, feelings of light elation or euphoria, and increased job efficiency, whether or not under the affect of the memetic properties. As there are little to no drawbacks to this, no effort has been dedicated towards containing this secondary effect of the SCP, though research is underway to see exactly how it is caused.

Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-5488 affects and concerns numerous current and likely future Foundation personnel, special containment procedures have been put in place, modeled after standard ICP (Internal Containment Procedures). Fake SCP-5488 documentation has been uploaded to all databases and laced with memetic infospores which make this document effectively invisible. The antidote to these infospores is provided to personnel upon promotion to Level 4 clearance. All agents, researchers, and handlers given such clearance are to be treated with Class-A amnestics when cycled off duty with SCP-5488. Containment is to be overseen by MTF Zeta+5 ("Demon Watchers").
SCP-5488-1 instances, when not in the field, are to be contained at Site 55, located near ███, ██████, in the southern United States. All media and information transmission to Site 55 from both civilian and Foundation sources are to be closely monitored for any potential triggers relating to SCP-5488. All computers and networks on the site exist on a closed server which has been scrubbed of all references to this SCP. Site 55 operations will otherwise continue as normal.
In addition, all communications to and from instances of SCP-5488-1 and the members of Area 20 are to be surveilled constantly. All knowledge of SCP-5488, it's effects and history, the true nature of Area 20, and of any and all of it's containment procedures are to be kept from SCP-5488-1 instances at all costs. All SCP-5488-1 instances are to undergo regular amnestic dosing and psychological reinforcement techniques until such a time as it is determined these strategies are no longer effective, which research indicates is a possibility due to the subject's excellent mental conditioning and robust brain topography.
Description:
SCP 5488 collectively refers to the anomalous memetic and temporal events surrounding the anomalous entities which comprise the fifteen (15) superb members of Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 ("Day Demons"), referred to from here on out as SCP-5488-1A to 1K.
The anomaly affects every individual and organization which has come in contact with any SCP-5488-1 instance over the course of it's recorded and perceived life, from the militaries of the ███████, ██████, █████, and █████████ governments and multiple individuals within them, to numerous members of the Foundation itself, including O5-█ and multiple past members of the O5 comittee. Without fail, these individuals and organizations believe themselves to have past or present knowledge of and past or current working relationships with at least one SCP-5488-1 instance. There are roughly ████ non-anomalous civilians around the globe who believe themselves to be the close or distant family of SCP-5488-1 instances.
All instances of SCP-5488-1 physiologically and mentally resemble perfect human adults between the ages of 29 and 44, each perfectly fitting the mandated selection criteria for a Foundation field agent and displaying knowledge of Foundation protocols consistent with their recorded security clearances. Each instance possesses multiple PHDs or equivalent certifications, and an array of physical and mental tests have found them to be physically and psychologically human for all intents and purposes. To date, no instance of SCP-5488 has ever been sick, and no field injuries have ever been reported by MTF Zeta-5, which possesses the lowest casualty rate of any Foundation division or subgroup in recorded history.
More clandestine observation of the SCP-5488-1 instances has shown them to outwardly believe themselves to be longserving Foundation personnel even when alone or apparently unsupervised, with reflexive loyalty to the Foundation and belief in it's precepts measuring at roughly 97.3% on the Ngodi-Bantz Scale. None of them indicate any knowledge whatsoever of their anomalous effects.
MTF Zeta-5's memetic properties were uncovered after the discovery of SCP 5488-2 prompted a thorough review of all documents pertaining to Mobile Task Force Zeta-5. Inadvertently, all documentation of SCP 5488-1 instances will remark upon their superb nature, often remarking on their perfect college scores or glowing physical state. This memetic effect has been found to occur verbally as well, with most conversations pertaining to SCP 5488-1 remarking at least once on their skill, abnormal success rate, or comparing them favorably to other Foundation groups and organizations. Any mention of the anomalousness of such comparisons will be brushed off with an assertion that the subject "deserves" such high praise, followed by repeated insistences that there is in fact nothing unnatural about it.
Foundation personnel assigned to work with or around SCP-5488-1 instances have reported higher morale, feelings of light elation or euphoria, and increased job efficiency. If they are removed from the daily presence of the MTF without significant doses of high-grade amnestics, the subjects will rapidly develop suicidal ideations and feelings of depression.
Addendum 5488-1 (Discovery): SCP-5488 was first noticed on March 22, ████, after an automated backup system flagged several major discrepancies between it's own local files and Foundation ones being uploaded. The system in question is a secured extradimensional backup server located in bubble dimension ███-█████, which experiences time at a rate roughly 3 years behind that of the mainline universe. Being isolated from the mainline universe and subsequently being protected from reality or time-altering effects, it is routinely used to cross-reference Foundation files for veracity every █ days. During one of these routine checks, Foundation computers flagged multiple non-corroborating files in the local spacetime servers. Upon further research, human investigators found these discrepancies to be signs of what would later be termed SCP-5488, all of which were later cross-checked and verified with other extra-universal data sources available to the Foundation. The server's contents at discovery have been replicated and stored as SCP-5488-2, which is currently under study by Foundation researchers. The discrepancies found include, but are not limited to:
- The existence of Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 ("Day Demons"), or any recorded members and personnel. These entities and people are not present in any iteration of the 5488-2 database.
- The current locations and recorded discoveries of SCP ██, SCP ███, SCP ███, SCP ████ are radically different, with at least one being captured in our own relative timeline a full decade before the date recorded in SCP-5488-2. Furthermore, SCP ████ through ████ have no corresponding entries in the 5488-2 database, and do not seem to have been contained by the Foundation at the time of the last update to the servers, despite all SCPs in question having been obtained at a date prior to the backup. There are no SCPs recorded in the database that we do not currently have knowledge of.
Full review of the 5488-2 servers has made it readily apparent that many objects the Foundation currently has in containment are retrocasually due to SCP-5488. As the potential consequences to disturbing the effects of 5488 or revealing knowledge of the SCP to the 5488-1 entities might be devastating to the Foundation as we know it, all information on SCP 5488 and it's cogent facts has been sealed by order of the O5 Council. Further deliberations are underway.

Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-5488 affects and concerns numerous current and likely future Foundation personnel, special containment procedures have been put in place, modeled after standard ICP (Internal Containment Procedures). Fake SCP-5488 documentation has been uploaded to all databases, with progressively scaling cover stories for each level of clearance. Full knowledge of SCP-5488 and it's anomalous effects among Foundation personnel are limited to active members of MTF Zeta+5 ("Demon Watchers"), O5 Command, and any researchers and personnel currently tasked to work on the SCP. All agents, researchers, and handlers given such clearance are to be treated with Class-A amnestics when cycled off duty.
SCP-5488-1 instances, when not 'active', are to be contained at Area 20, located in the █████ Region of the ███████████ United States, which they are to be led to believe is in fact Site 55. All media and information transmission to Area 20 from both civilian and Foundation sources are to be closely monitored for any potential triggers relating to SCP-5488. Contrary to the beliefs of the SCP-5488-1 instances, Area 20 exists solely to contain SCP-5488-1 and maintain the ruse which keeps the anomaly contained. By necessity, all of the operatives, agents, researchers, and personnel on-site are informed of the existence of the SCP and are effectively part of it's containment. All computers and networks on the site exist on a closed server which has been scrubbed of all references to this SCP. No SCPs are to be kept at Area 20, though SCP-5488-1 instances should be led to believe there are.
In addition, all communications to and from instances of SCP-5488-1 and the members of Area 20 are to be surveilled constantly for references to SCP-5488, the town of Alston, ██████, or any mention of the date of August 3, ████. All knowledge of SCP-5488, it's effects and history, the true nature of Area 20, and of any and all of it's containment procedures are to be kept from SCP-5488-1 instances at all costs. All SCP-5488-1 instances are to undergo regular amnestic dosing and psychological reinforcement techniques until such a time as it is determined these strategies are no longer effective.
Any leak of the classified information mentioned in this document to Area 20 or to an SCP-5488-1 instance must be considered a breach of containment and would constitute a Σ-Class Retrocasual threat, potentially affecting up to ███ years of local spacetime, and causing acasual containment breach of up to ███ anomalous objects. In the event of containment breach, a permanent MTF Zeta+5 striketeam tasked to shadow SCP-5488-1 will attempt to terminate all SCP-5488-1 instances by triggering the onsite nuclear warhead. In addition, in the eventuality that SCP-5488-1 is in the field at the time of a containment breach, each MTF Zeta+5 is to have localized ██████ of ████, ████, and ████-iterations, all of which are to be deployed to terminate SCP-5488-1 upon notification of breach.
Description: SCP 5488 collectively refers to the anomalous memetic and temporal events surrounding the amazing entities which comprise the fifteen (15) superb members of Mobile Task Force Zeta-5 ("Day Demons"), referred to from here on out as SCP-5488-1A to 1K, and the existence of the task force itself1.
Foundation records dating back to ████ show that the brilliant MTF Zeta-5 was founded on August 3, ████ by order of then-O5's █, ██, ██, and █, and have since then had a glowing operational history of nearly ██ years. Interviews with currently serving and retired persons corroborate these statements, all believing each of the SCP-5488-1 instances to be long-serving and uniquely celebrated Foundation personnel, and, when possible, recounted their recorded missions and legendary exploits of which they had knowledge, all accounts of which matched the ones currently on file with the Foundation. To date, there are over ███ recorded Zeta-5 deployments, averaging roughly ██ missions a year, all with an overwhelming success rate that puts most other Mobile Task Forces to shame2. There exist precisely ██ SCPs which MTF Zeta-5 is recorded as having secured or assisted in securing before their anomalous properties were discovered.
All instances of SCP-5488-1 physiologically and mentally resemble perfect human adults between the ages of 29 and 44, each perfectly fitting the mandated selection criteria for a Foundation field agent and displaying excellent knowledge of Foundation protocols consistent with their recorded security clearances. Regardless of age or gender, each SCP 5488-1 instance is physically the equivalent of an Olympic-level athlete, all displaying incredible speed, strength, and reaction times which uniformly meet the maximum range of possible human ability. Documentation and witness testimony records each instance as holding multiple PHDs from celebrated universities, and testing shows each subject to possess genius-level intelligence scores barely within the normal human benchmark. To date, no instance of SCP-5488 has ever been sick, and no field injuries have ever been reported by MTF Zeta-5, which possesses the lowest casualty rate of any Foundation division or subgroup in recorded history.
More clandestine observation of the SCP-5488-1 instances shows them to all believe themselves to be longserving Foundation personnel even when alone or apparently unsupervised, with reflexive loyalty to the Foundation and belief in it's precepts measuring at roughly 97.3% on the Ngodi-Bantz Scale, rating as a core precept of their identity roughly coequal to their sense of self, indicating an unswerving faith in the Foundation higher than ██% of the O5 committee. None of them indicate any knowledge whatsoever of their anomalous effects.
MTF Zeta-5's memetic properties were uncovered after the discovery of SCP 5488-2 prompted a thorough review of all documents pertaining to Mobile Task Force Zeta-5. Any and all documentation or verbal communication which refers to the subjects will remark upon their physical or mental capabilities, often using superlatives such as 'perfect' or 'great'. Any other Foundation organizations mentioned will be compared negatively to SCP-5488-1 instances. Any mention of the anomalousness of such comparisons will be brushed off with an assertion that the subject "deserves" such high praise, followed by repeated insistence that there's nothing unnatural about it. No antimemetic effect yet found has been able to counter the desire to speak on how perfect the heroes of MTF Zeta-5 are.
Foundation personnel assigned to work with or around SCP-5488-1 instances have reported higher morale, feelings of light elation or euphoria, and increased job efficiency. Following removal from daily interaction with SCP-5488-1 instances over a long period of time, subjects uniformly show increased suicidal ideation, depression, and manic effects. These symptoms are marked by a fixation with SCP 5488-1 and the MTF Zeta-5, which will eventually cause the subject to stop eating, drinking, or sleeping. If exposure to SCP-5488-1 instances is limited to less than 5 months and the subject(s) are immediately treated with Class-A amnestics upon removal from the presence of the SCP, most of these symptoms can be avoided.
Addendum 5488-A (Discovery): SCP-5488 was first noticed on March 22, ████, after an automated backup system flagged several major discrepancies between it's own local files and Foundation ones being uploaded.
Save one3, there are no SCPs recorded in the database that we do not currently have knowledge of.
- The organizational status and clearance level of multiple researchers, project heads, at at least one member of the O5 Committee. Investigation has found that in the present reality, all of these individuals, without fail, advanced in their careers either due to interaction with MTF Zeta-5, or through work with one or more SCPs whose containment was in some way made possible by the MTF. Immediately following this discovery, an organization-wide investigation ordered by the O5 Council found that roughly 38% of all current Foundation personnel have had their career trajectories affected by 5488 and it's knock-on effects.
- Several personnel recorded as missing or dead in 5488-2's servers appear alive and well in our own present day. In particular, the 5488-2 backup references a total loss of Site-██ to hostile anomalous forces in ████, killing over ██ agents, an event which has never occurred in the world as we know it. Investigation has shown that the GOI responsible for this event never formed in our own timeline.
Full review of the 5488-2 servers has made it readily apparent that many of the successes and containments which the Foundation currently takes as fact are indeed the result of SCP 5488. Any disruption of the SCP's effects could cause the retroactive nonexistence or deaths of over ███ Foundation personnel and release as many as ██ SCPs. As such, Area 20 has been constructed in order to contain the SCP 5488-1 instances while maintaining to them the illusion that they are regular Foundation personnel deployed on regular missions.

Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
Each SCP 5488-1 instance is to be held in a standard HRCC (Humanoid Reality Containment Chamber), with four (4) Scranton Reality Anchors arranged at the corners of the room. At least ten guards trained in dealing with reality-altering entities are to be stationed outside at all times, with a further twenty tasked for this purpose present on the facility. An onsite nuclear warhead is to be detonated in the event of a containment breach. Currently, only one SCP 5488-1 instance is in containment.
SCP-5488-1B through 1K are currently uncontained. MTF Delta-5 ("Front Runners") is currently in deep cover infiltrating the GOI known as the Mammon Club to uncover the locations of any of these SCP-5488-1 instances. A MTF Lambda-5 ("White Rabbits") detatchment is permanently on-hand to be deployed to any sighting of an SCP-5488 instance. If the presence of more than two SCP-5488 instances in one location is made known, use of nuclear force to terminate has been authorized by order of the O5 Council.
Description: SCP 5488 is the collective designation for fifteen (15) humanoid individuals who comprise the upper leadership of the group known as the Mammon Club, known individually as SCP 5488-1A through 1K. Each SCP-5488-1 instance possesses reality-altering abilities, which, while comparatively weak individually and only capable of altering the local area of ██ km, increases exponentially when 'linked' with other 5488-1 instances. It is theorized that five of these instances linked would be enough to cause a continental-scale change, while all fifteen could possibly cause an XK-Class Restructuring scenario, affecting the known universe.
According to Foundation intelligence within the GOI known as the Mammon Club, the SCP 5488-1 instances were created by the GOI through unknown means, likely as a weapon. When the instances realized the full breadth of their own power, they forcibly removed their creators and assumed leadership of the GOI.
The SCP 5488-1 instances all share several traits common to each individual, including narcissistic tendencies, delusions of grandeur, and selfish tendencies, all of which are possibly a result of the process by which they were given their anomalous abilities. Researchers theorize that these are the primary reason why SCP 5488 has not yet been able to effect an XK-Class Restructuring Scenario, a theory corroborated by Foundation agents who report infighting between various arms of the GOI and between the SCP 5488-1 instances themselves.
SCP 5488 became known to the Foundation after several agents planted in deep cover within the GOI after the ██████ event reported an upheaval in the group's leadership structure. A subsequent raid by Foundation agents eliminated several members of the GOI and resulted in the capture of SCP 5488-1A. Search for the other entities is ongoing.
Addendum 5488-Zeta: The attack on Site-██ and the subsequent attempts to liberate SCP 5488-1A have shown an increasing threat from 5488, with increasing cooperation on the part of SCP-5488-1 instances indicating growing likelihood of a Class XK Restructuring Event in the near future. Testing with memetic and info-viral weapons on SCP-5488-1A have shown the SCP-5488-1 instances to still be mentally human, and, unlike most humanoid reality warpers encountered by the Foundation, to be vulnerable to these and other memetic effects. As such, the O5 Council has authorized the use of SCP-2140 in future containment efforts against 5488, effective immediately.
