SCP-4815-1 removed from its container
Item #: SCP-4815
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4815 is to be safely stored in a secure locker. Every six months SCP-4815 is to be taken out of containment and tested with a voltmeter. All personnel doing so are to be made aware of the risks of handling SCP-4815 with uncovered skin, and are instructed to be wearing rubber gloves.
Subjects with less than a high-school level education are not to interact with SCP-4815, and is recommended that subjects with at least a complete college level of education be the ones who interact with SCP-4815 for safest results.
Description: SCP-4815 is a small container of six (6) rechargeable AA batteries, (which will be referred to as SCP-4815-1 through 4815-6) with no labeling present on either the package or the individual batteries. The rate of decay for their current charge has yet to be determined, but through testing have been discovered to last between eight (8) to twelve (12) hours, depending upon the drain of the device SCP-4815 is contained in, as well as the brain development of the last subject that charged SCP-4815.
When touched with unprotected skin, SCP-4815 begins to charge, and place the subject interacting with SCP-4815 in a vegetative state while still holding the battery. Individuals who touch either the subject or SCP-4815 without protection will find themselves connected to the "circuit" and begin charging SCP-4815 with the subject.
(It should be noted that multiple people in contact with SCP-4815 does increase the charging speed and quality of SCP-4815, and could be used as an alternative way around SCP-4815's threat to individuals with low brain development.)
After charging SCP-4815, subjects noted that they suffered from headaches, dizziness, and nausea, but recovered within a few hours after initial contact with SCP-4815.
The rate at which SCP-4815 charges is directly linked with the brain development of the individual holding SCP-4815. Subjects with more neural and synapse activity charge the batteries at a considerably faster rate than subjects with less development. Furthermore, subjects with higher brain development increase SCP-4815's lifetime in use, with results closer towards the upper limit of twelve (12) hours.
It should be again stated that subjects with less than a high-school level education should not be allowed to interact with SCP-4815. Subjects tested with SCP-4815 with low brain development interacting with SCP-4815 were placed into a vegetative state as normal, but eventually suffered from a complete lack of brain activity after charging SCP-4815. SCP-4815's level of charge only lasted an average of eight (8) hours at most, and produced less voltage than a charge level provided by an individual with high brain development.
Item #: SCP-4915
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4815 is to be stored in a secure locker on Site ██. It is to remain unconnected to any sources of power. Experimentation with SCP-1915 may only be performed with prior written permission from at least two (2) Level 2 Personnel.
Description: SCP-4915 appears to be a standard facsimile machine, perfectly capable of functioning as intended. it was purchased by Dr. █████ on ██/█/20██, and was used as normal in the facility workplace. However, when Dr. █████ attempted to send a fax to a colleague who was asleep at the time, the document did not arrive at the colleague's facsimile machine as intended. Colleague later described to other staff members an interesting dream where a large document was printed from just above his view. Later descriptions of this page indicated it was the document sent by Dr. █████, and SCP-4915 was brought in to testing as a potential SCP object.
Through testing of multiple facsimile machines and sleeping D-Class Personnel, it was discovered that SCP-4915 is capable of sending a fax message to any sleeping individual, by typing in either the dialing number of their owned facsimile machine, their identification number, (such as ████6 for subject D-████6) or the subject's name, by pressing the individual number keys until the correct letter is selected and the full name is written out on the display.
Using any of these methods, SCP-4915 is capable of sending a facsimile message to that individual's facsimile machine if they (1) own a facsimile machine, and (2) are conscious. If the subject is unconscious, either through sleep or through other means, (See test log 4915-A) Subject will receive the message through a dream. Even if the subject was not having a dream, they will report suddenly arriving in a dim, gray room, where above out of site, a large document will print from the ceiling. Subjects that were already dreaming reported the document would arrive through other means, either delivered to them by another individual in their dream, or printed form a source just out of view.
As of ██/██/20██, the use of SCP-4915 to send facsimile messages of images of living beings has been suspended, and use of SCP-4915 to send facsimile messages of living beings for testing must require written permission from at least two (2) level 4 personnel.
Test 4915-A - Date ██/██/20██
Subject: D-█████
Procedure: Subject was placed in room with facsimile machine and sent a facsimile message from SCP-4915, dialing the subject's facsimile machine.
Results: Facsimile message sent through as normal.
Test 4915-A2 - Date ██/██/20██
Subject: D-█████
Procedure: Further messages were sent to subject using subject's Identification Number and name.
Results: Facsimile message was sent to subject's facsimile machine as normal
Notes: "This machine is capable of sending a document to anyone using apparently any form of identification. So you better not complain about fax machine problems as an excuse for failing to get the right documents on my desk at the right time!" Dr. R██████
Test 4915-B - Date ██/██/20██
Subject: D-█████
Procedure: Subject was instructed to sleep on a cot provided in the testing room. When REM was detected from subject, SCP-4915 was powered on and sent a facsimile message to subject using subject's identification number. When the display on SCP-4915 displayed the "Sent" message, subject was woken and asked to repeat to them what the document said.
Result: Subject successfully repeated the short paragraph on document. Consideration of attempting similar method with more complex document should be taken.
Test 4915-B2 - Date ██/██/20██
Subject: D-█████
Procedure: Subject was instructed to sleep on a cot provided in the testing room. When REM was detected from subject, SCP-4915 was powered on, and sent a facsimile message of Dr. M█████'s report on SCP-████. Upon receiving the "Sent" confirmation from SCP-4915, Subject was woken and asked to write down what the subject remembered from the document.
Result: Subject was able to write down every part of Dr. M█████'s report with exactness. Subject given a Grade-A amnestic to secure SCP-████'s information.
Notes: "I had better not hear of anyone using this as a means to cram information before an examination. This would still count as cheating." Dr. R██████
Test 4915-C - Date ██/█/20██
Subject D-█████. Subject suffers from sleep paralysis.
Procedure:** Subject was instructed to sleep on a cot provided in testing room. When REM was detected from movement, and subject was confirmed to be in sleep paralysis, SCP-4915 was powered on and used to send a facsimile of a children's poem. Subject was then assisted from sleep paralysis, calmed, and was then asked to recite the poem and explain what subject had seen.
Results: Subject reported one of the shadowy figures that would normally stand in the corner of the room to observe her suddenly moved toward her, sat down on her bed, and read from a document to subject. When asked to recall what the figure said, subject recalled the children's poem with exactness, despite never seeing the document. Subject asked if the poem was intended to help keep her calm, to which the question was ignored.
Test 4915-D - Date █/██/20██
Subject: D-█████
Procedure: Subject was given sleep medication and instructed to sleep on a cot provided in testing room. When subject was asleep, SCP-4915 was powered on and used to send an image of a cat to subject, despite no confirmation of REM. REM was detected from subject when SCP-4915 displayed the "Sent" message, and subject was later woken and asked to describe what occured.
Result: Subject described suddenly being aware that they were in a dark gray room, and noted that in the center of the room, a cat began to fade in to existence. Cat became animate and walked around the room. Subject attempted to interact with the cat, but then stated that he was woken up by SCP Personnel. Subject was returned to their living quarters, and later asked the staff nearby if they had just heard a cat. Later, subject reported seeing a cat just turning the corner down a hallway from the corner of his eye. Further testing on using SCP-4915 to send images should be taken with caution, but should be taken nonetheless.
Test 4915-E - Date █/██/20██
Subject: D-█████
Procedure: Subject was instructed to sleep on a cot provided in the testing room. When subject was confirmed to be sleeping, SCP-4915 was powered on and used to send an image of SCP-049. When "Sent" message was displayed, subject awoke from cot in a panicked state. Subject was then questioned.
Results: Subject claimed that subject arrived in a similar room as subject from Test 4915-D, but were startled to see SCP-049 walk through a hidden door in the wall. SCP-049 stared down the subject before rushing towards the subject with hands raised. Subject awoke shortly after.
Addition 1: Several days after Test 4159-E, subject D-█████ reported seeing sites of a figure walking around a corner or object out of view from the corner of their vision. Subject also reported similar occurrences in their dreams, stating that "Somebody seems to be watching me, and disappearing right before I can see them." Subject began to suffer from mild paranoia, and had difficulties sleeping.
Addition 2: ██ days have passed since subject's test with SCP-4915. Subject reports seeing SCP-049 standing at the far end of dark hallways, staring at subject. Subject also states that SCP-049 is following subject in their dreams, and is now suffering from sleep paralysis, where they state that SCP-049 is watching them from the corner of the room. Despite subject's very detailed reports of SCP-049, recordings of the areas subject D-█████ spoke of showed no change in the lighting of said hallways, or the presence of SCP-049 or any other figure. Personnel in the area confirmed that there was no change of lighting, or figures in the area.
*Addition 3: Subject D-█████ from Test 4159- D is thoroughly convinced there is a cat in subject's living space, and is frantically trying to find the animal, despite there not having been a cat released on-site and a lack of audio heard from any other individuals. Any testing of SCP-4915 for the use of sending facsimile messages of images of living organisms is to cease immediately, and require written permission from three (3) Level 4 personnel to continue testing. Use of SCP-4915 is to cease unless permission to use SCP-4915 is granted from a Level 3 Personnel, and the purpose and usage of SCP-4915 is written down in a log and sent to a corresponding Level 4 Personnel tasked with observation and containment measures of SCP-4915.
Addition 4: On █/██/20██, Site security was alerted due to the activation of the on-site containment breach alarm. Alarm was activated as subject D-█████ of Test 4915-E alerted on-site security of a containment breach of SCP-049 and multiple humanoid SCP-049-2 moving toward the subject. It was later discovered to be a false alarm despite subject's constant state of panic. It was discovered that subject was suffering from extreme paranoia, insomnia, sleep paralysis, and was incredibly irritable and illogical. Subject was sedated and returned to living quarters.
Addition 5: As of █/██/20██, subject D-█████ was reported dead. Autopsy report shows that subject died due to the sudden loss of activity from subject's brain. Recordings of subject's quarters showed that subject was suffering from sleep paralysis while sedated inside their quarters, and attempted to scream and struggle as they stared into the far corner of the room. Subject eventually stopped and lied still. It was assumed subject had fallen into regular sleep at that time, and death was not reported until the on-site psychiatrist came in for a meeting with the subject.
