Item #: SCP-5000

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5000 is kept in a sound-proof reinforced sword case located inside Unit ███, Sector ███. Entry to the Unit is restricted to personnel with Level 2 or higher Security Clearance. Use of lethal force if intruders attempt to release/use SCP-5000 is authorized.

In the event of attempted unauthrorized usage/theft of SCP-5000, Foundation Security are to be deployed immediately to apprehend the intruder.

Description: SCP-5000 appears to be an old rust-covered Japanese Katana blade. The sword appears to be covered in burns as well. The sword seems to emit sounds of quiet sobbing and moaning, as if it was in pain. Most individuals who are in close vicinity of SCP-5000 appear to not suffer any form of physical or psychological harm, aside from feeling uneasy.

Upon inspection, Foundation Researchers found that the blade is very dull, and does not cut through most objects well. The sword is often seen secreting a salty water-like fluid from the handle. One D-Class personnel interacting with the blade suggested that the fluid was tears.

Discovery: SCP-5000 was discovered by Foundation Staff in a small demolished house on the outskirts of Nagasaki, Japan. The house appeared to be covered in vegetation, and carcasses of small animals were found inside the house. The Foundation Staff had figured that it had paranormal qualities seeing as it was emitting sounds, and "It was fucking creepy." as one of our Foundation Staff quoted.

Patrols of the area around SCP-5000 were done carefully, seeing as the building that housed the sword was radiated, and staff were forced to wear hazmat suits in order to retrieve SCP-5000. According to one of the staff who had retrieved the sword, SCP-5000 was emitting constant moaning and sobbing, and was forced to put the sword in a sound-proof box for the time being until it had been brought back to the laboratory for testing.

Footnotes

  1. Through experimenting, Foundation researchers had discovered that the sword's sobbing and moaning immediately turns to screaming when exposed to medium amounts of radiation.
