Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX's location must be tracked, and containment equipment will be set up on the nearest public or private road. Mobile Task Force ???-??? ("Wrecking Crew") will operate the containment equipment and on-site amnestics, and researchers will monitor SCP-XXXX for changes using high-sensitivity microphones. The Foundation will obtain broad work-permits from the current state, province, or nation that currently contains SCP-XXXX, and Moblie Task Force ???-??? operatives will contact local authorities for traffic redirection as necessary.

Containment equipment consists of several construction vehicles, a mobile Class-C Amnestic tank, and high-sensitivity sound recording devices. All construction vehicles must be specially modified to produce no more than 15 decibels during normal operation. Additionally, all equipment must be able to quickly move to a new site, with a top speed of at least 25mph. Extra equipment, including spare vehicles and modified versions of several standard construction vehicles, will be stored at the nearest site to SCP-XXXX's location (currently Site-██).

Containment vehicles will perform actions typical to road repair, including:
- Tearing up and replacing asphalt
- Laying new utilities, like sewer pipes and telephone poles
- Creating new sidewalks, or replacing existing ones
- Repainting road lines
- Replacing signs
The specific actions will vary based on the current vehicles in the containment area.

At least one researcher will monitor the sounds produced by SCP-XXXX at all times. If new component sounds are heard for a period longer than 1 hour, new vehicles matching those sounds must be brought to the containment area. The current manifest of available containment equipment can be found in Document-XXXX-M. Researchers will administer amnestics to any citizens: attempting to enter the containment area in workman's clothes; attempting to deliver construction materials; or claiming to be representatives of a construction company operating in the containment area.

The Foundation will work with local officials to suspend any construction activities within a 1-mile radius of SCP-XXXX. If SCP-XXXX begins moving, MTF ???-??? operatives must be sent to construction sites in SCP-XXXX's path to immediately suspend activities. Explosives, EMPs, non-lethal ammunition, and weaponized amnestics have been authorized for use in shutting down construction sites quickly.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an area of approximately 0.25 acres with amorphous dimensions. SCP-XXXX has no physical manifestation except for anomalous sounds produced within its area, composed of individual sounds designated as SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are identical to those produced by normal operation of various construction vehicles. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are not generated from a single location; instead, they appear to originate from the entire area of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX usually occupies a road in an urban or suburban area. It is capable of movement, and will sometimes move along roads at speeds up to 50mph. The new location appears to be randomly chosen, and does not depend on the road's need for maintenance.

When a new SCP-XXXX-1 instance manifests, it starts relatively quiet (approximately 20db) and gradually increases in volume. After a period of 1 hour, the volume is consistent with normal construction equipment. If there is no matching construction equipment that could produce the sound of SCP-XXXX-1 inside SCP-XXXX, or if the construction equipment does not have a human operator, the SCP-XXXX-1 instance will increase in volume indefinitely. Operating the matching construction equipment within SCP-XXXX will decrease the SCP-XXXX-1 instance's volume to normal levels at the same rate it increased. Sensitive recording equipment is used to detect new SCP-XXXX-1 instances quickly, allowing sufficient time for the equipment to arrive at the containment area.

SCP-XXXX can sustain a limited number of SCP-XXXX-1 instances concurrently. As of ██/██/20██, it can sustain up to 12 instances. When exposed to sounds of construction equipment for any amount of time, including construction equipment within SCP-XXXX, the number of concurrent SCP-XXXX-1 manifestations will increase for 1-7 days. The increase becomes permanent if the sounds persist for more than 5 hours.

SCP-XXXX-1 instances appear to choose equipment randomly, with no correlation between the current repairs and the new vehicle. Vehicle sounds also do not appear to follow a pattern or logical ordering, and can be impossible in some cases (for example, the sound of a dump truck emptying rocks for several hours continuously).
