"Hey, Researcher Miller! I see you are having your afternoon break right now too!"
"Oh, hello there, Dr.Hyde. How are you?"
"I'm great, thanks! Had a busy morning regarding experiments on new SCP entities."
"Good to hear, lets sit down."
Researcher Miller and Dr.Hyde sat down at a bench near a chimney in the lounge. A conversation about experiments, a new Site that is being built and new SCP entity discoveries followed. Dr.Hyde noticed a strong lack of interest in the conversation from Miller's side.
"Anything wrong, Miller? You tend to be quite pale lately, did something happen?"
"I don't know, Hyde. I mean, yes, there is something. I just don't know if it is the right time to talk about it right now."
"Anytime, Miller. You know the priority of the foundation is not to leak any information regarding SCP or personnel related stuff to the outside world."
"I get that. It's just something that can't be quickly talked about during our break. I'll write my problem out and leave the note on your desk so that I am sure I don't miss any information."
"Be my guest!"
"Well, I am gonna get back to work."
"See you around soon, Miller!"
While Dr.Hyde grabbed a newspaper to read, Researcher Miller left the lounge and headed back to his office. He did not spare a second and started writing out his experience with an anomaly not yet registered as an official SCP entity. While writing, Researcher Miller became more aware of what actually happened. "I could have fucking died…" mumbled Miller, and his eyes started tearing.
By the time Miller completed the note, and his work, Dr.Hyde's shift had already ended. Miller left the note on Dr.Hyde's desk and went home.
The Next Day
"Miller, what the hell is this?"
Dr.Hyde aggressively picked up the following note and shove it obnoxiously in front of Miller's face.
'What do we have here… ah! A human has visited one of my infected sites. They almost left me worried here, heh.' POOF
'Oh sorry, I completely forgot to introduce myself. I am what you guys call an "anomalous entity". I have an entire world for myself, and I love it. Now, where is this world, you might ask? It's a world saved by your very species in your very digital cloud. I have to be honest, I don't really know how I ended up here, but I assume some evil deed created me. Not like I care though.'
'Allow me to guide you around in my world. Here we have a corridor with some doors leading to cells, and, that is…… that is it. My world is a huge maze, where I like to toy around with humans. Oh! A system failure, be right back.' POOF
'Sorry, it took longer than expected, that guy was pretty bulky. Where were we? Ah! I was telling you about my maze, yeah, so my world is a maze. What is that look on your face? Does something bother you? Oh, right. I like to toy around with people, is that new to you? Anyways, you might wonder why I enjoy wearing out my time here. The answer is simple; testing the power of my code, and getting to kill some humans here and there. Fun if you ask me. Oh, darn it! Another system failure! I'm terribly sorry. I'll be right back once again.' POOF
'Here I am, finally. I hope to be able to stay a little longer this time. I guess you wonder why I keep on leaving all the time, I understand that. Your species is trying to kill me, and I have to fight that back. Oh, look! Do you see that square with the blue binary code? That is a fine example of a weapon you guys are using against me. It's boring, how weak those things are. I mean, there have been a few strong ones, but the majority can be countered within a few minutes. I can- are you serious? What kind of imbeciles am I bringing into my world? All the damn system failures…' POOF
'Time is running, well, for you, at least. What more would you like to know? One. Do you want to know more about me? Sure. I am a human like you but completely programmed to attack humans. An AI, you can say. Two. I do that by teleporting myself at light speed to a monitor, but, the victim. Three. The victim has to visit an infected site first. I have no clue which sites and how many, but I get a notification once someone visits. Four, hold on, it's getting crowded in here. I need some more humans here to counterattack these cyber attacks.' POOF
'Alright, back. You might want to start experiencing my world yourself. Go ahead, run, and see if you can complete the task. Kill one of your weapons. Don't be late!'
This is what the anomaly told me upon entering his 'world' ~ Researcher Miller.
"I told you, that it wouldn't really be a subject to talk about during a break."
"I assume you encountered an anomaly and didn't inform the foundation about it?"
"Right. I can explain."
"You better do. One thing I need to know right now, did you encounter this anomaly through your computer at home or within the Site?"
"In the Site. I was looki-…"
"Miller, I do hope you realize that this could have potentially posed a danger to the Site, maybe even the whole foundation! It still can!"
"Listen, Dr.Hyde, I understand your frustration, I am minimally as frustrated as you. I could have been dead! Now, let me explain how I discovered this anomaly, please."
"Go ahead."
"I was reading a topic in the news regarding the missing of more and more people who disappeared, or temporarily disappeared, while using a computer. I went on an investigation as the first thing that came to my mind is that it could possibly be a new entity. I did my research and ended up at a website. That very website made the computer in my office crash, well, not crash, but freeze. The screen turned black and green binary code texts appeared on my screen, out of nowhere. I do not really remember what happened after, but I woke up in a world comparable to what you have seen in the Matrix, in case you've seen that movie. An anomaly, that appeared connected to the floor, all covered green computer codes and binary language, spoke to me. I wrote down what I remembered on the note. I could not talk, but it appeared to know what I was thinking."
