SCP-xxxx.

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: A submersible patrol boat is to be kept at the base below SCP-xxxx and used to dissuade any civilian craft nearing the area from entering.

Description: SCP-xxxx is a sphere of unknown material, approximately 1.0 km in diameter, located in the Northern Pacific Ocean (█████° N, █████° E). The midpoint of SCP-xxxx is 223 m below sea level. The bottom intersects with a sunken mountain, presumed to have been a volcano at one point.

The material that SCP-xxxx is made of is undetectable except by physical contact. All forms of radiation (including radio waves, infrared light, and visible light) bend around it, rendering it invisible to sensors. It also exhibits hydrophobic properties and is a nearly perfect thermal insulator. SCP-xxxx was discovered during a routine investigation of a flagged topographical anomaly1 showing an abnormally smooth sphere cut out of the top of a sunken mountain formation.

Contained within SCP-xxxx is an 0.67 km2 volcanic island. Entry to this island is allowed only through an 847 m Foundation-made vertical tunnel leading upwards through the mountain formation at the base of SCP-xxxx. No light passes through SCP-xxxx, so the interior is pitch black. Temperatures on the island are dangerously low, ranging from -190°C to -200°C, making exploration and investigation extremely difficult. Because SCP-xxxx blocks radio signals, autonomous and remote explorations must be mounted from the base established below SCP-xxxx. These explorations have revealed no living plant or animal life on the island.

The temperature drops with proximity to a concrete bunker located near the center of the island, which is suspected to be at least partially underground. The door to the bunker is shut and frozen solid. The style of the bunker is similar to World War 2 era designs of the ████████ army, implying prior occupation. No military records indicate knowledge of the island or interest in its location.

Addendum xxxx-1: On ██/██/████, an exploratory breach of the bunker door was approved. A remote-control drone equipped with a cutting laser was used to create a viewing hole in the door of the bunker. Photos taken show that the entry door leads to an airlock which is entirely filled with ice, indicating temperatures of lower than -215°F. The interior door of the airlock is slightly ajar, and a black, clawed hand with three elongated fingers can be seen wrapped around it from the other side. Plans for further exploratory cutting are awaiting administrative approval.
