Item: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Uncontained
Special Containment Procedures:
Three separate research teams have been created to investigate the possible nature of SCP-XXXX's effect, and means of reversing it, or adjusting anomaly-detection technology to compensate for its presence. Teams are to share any useful findings with the other two teams, but should remain focused on testing their assigned hypothesis.
If a method of containing or reversing the effects of SCP-XXXX is found, it is to be proposed to the O5 council for review immediately, and enacted as soon as possible if deemed reasonable.
Description:
The designation "SCP-XXXX" currently refers to an unknown event that occurred on ██/██/2015, which resulted in the sudden malfunction of ██% the Foundation's techniques for detecting non-specific anomalous properties.
All man-made objects which were assembled or modified after ██/██/2015, as well as all living humans since that date are consistently detected as presumably false-positives by generally anomalous object detection methods.
Three possible scenarios have been theorized to be the cause of SCP-XXXX:
- On ██/██/2015, a powerful anomaly systematically damaged all equipment capable of detecting generally anomalous potential. (Scenario XXXX-R-1)
- An unknown, persistent anomalous effect has become widespread as of ██/██/2015, and is affecting the majority of living humans and objects they manufacture in an unknown process. (Scenario XXXX-R-2)
- An unknown RK-class reality restructuring event occurred on ██/██/2015, which shifted baseline reality such that human existence or intelligence is out of place, or would not have naturally occurred. (Scenario XXXX-R-3)
Research into SCP-XXXX is ongoing. Research Teams have assembled a collection of notes:
Object Analyzed | Proposed Classification | Notes |
---|---|---|
D-32924 (Male, 19) | Euclid | Subject placed under guard until it could be determined they did not possess anomalous properties. |
D-48237 (Female, 33) | Euclid | |
D-21344 (Male, 58) | Euclid | Euclid classification deemed to be solely the result of SCP-XXXX. Class-D subjects returned to D-block. |
SCP-105 | Euclid | Apparently, humanity is considered more difficult to contain than SCP-105's properties. |
SCP-████ | Keter | SCP-████'s actual object class is Euclid. It's possible what we're seeing is the "anomalous" properties of a human combined with SCP-████'s properties adding up to something considered even more difficult to contain. |
Dr. ███ | Euclid | |
Dr. ███'s clipboard | Safe | |
Coffee machine in Site 22 break room | Non-anomalous | Manufactured before ██/██/2015. |
Researcher ██████'s smartphone | Keter | The phone itself was made before ██/██/2015. Strange. |
Junior Researcher █████'s smartphone | Non-anomalous | The phone had not received a software update since before ██/██/2015. After updating, testing yielded identical results to Researcher ██████'s smartphone. |
On-site warhead 22-█ | Safe | |
SCP-2472 | Keter (No change in predictions observed from other tests) | I'm not ruling out the possibility that these anomalies are connected. |
SCP-XXXX's Documentation | [REDACTED] | [REDACTED BY ORDER OF O5 COUNCIL] |
[REDACTED] | Safe | Researcher ██████ has been reprimanded. |
Author's note (Spoiler): The conclusion I'm eventually going to lead readers to with the Research teams' notes is that an End-of-the-world scenario was going to occur, but a benevolent/thaumiel entity, or possibly the Foundation itself, stopped it, but, to do this, had to do something anomalous to humanity. Essentially, a combination of scenarios 2 and 3, which might only be apparent if someone reads all 3 teams' notes.
