Item #: SCP-5071

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures
SCP-5071 must be contained in a 5m x 5m x 5m opaque box at ALL times, unless in transit. When in transit, it must NOT be in view of anyone in or outside of the vehicle. We suggest a 1m x 1m opaque box. It is vital that whatever it is stored in, no one can see in or out of the container. This is absolutely critical.
When attempting to communicate with SCP-5071, authorised personnel may enter the containment, though ONLY if all present staff are blindfolded.
Description:
SCP-5071a is a 30cm x 50 cm portrait painting of a clown, thought to be painted around 1983. Whilst harmless by itself, anyone viewing it is sent insane within minutes. The affected claim to be possessed by the painting, referencing to a “brother” painting that was made along with SCP-5071a as part of a set. They claim to know where it is, stating that the paintings must be reunited or a terrible fate would befall the owner of both paintings. SCP-5071b is the name we have given to this brother painting.

Those possessed by the painting stop at nothing to find the brother painting. If, under any circumstances, anyone is possessed by SCP-5071a, initiate a full lockdown. No one should enter or leave the premises. The possessed who manage to escape the premises have never been found.

Addendum:
In 1997, Agent [REDACTED] decided to attempt to locate the brother painting, hoping it would stop the possessions and allow SCP-5071 to be studied further. He found nothing of monumental significance, yet in the [REDACTED] town of [REDACTED] he found many people who spoke of the painting. It has been ordered to suspend all similar missions until further notice.
