Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Because of SCP XXXX’s size and location, it is near impossible to contain or neutralise, although, specialised satellites and drones have been developed developed to monitor its activity, or to report any disruptions to its orbit. Similar technology has so been created to observe SCP XXXX-1.
Personnel tasked with the research or observation of both SCPs are to be rotated out for two months of psychological counselling after one month on site.

Description: At first glance, SCP XXXX appears to be a rocky white planet, spanning an approximate diameter of 8,000 kilometres in total. It is thought to be composed of a solid silicate crust, which accounts for roughly 17% (680 Kilometres) of its radius. SCP XXXX appears to have no alterations or notable craters on its surface.
Estimated to be 5 light years from our solar system, it’s orbiting its star, Mitera 8. It is the only planet in its orbit, and does not have a moon.

The planet was first recorded by NASA on the 14th of May, 199█, in which its counterpart, SCP XXXX-1 had not been detected yet, however, was monitored for its unusual changes in orbit.
On the 4th of July, 200█, video feed from a satellite observed more abnormal activity originating from SCP-XXXX while it passed in front of Mitera 8. The light from the star shone through SCP XXXX, and the entire planet became translucent. This revealed the shape of a large biological formation inside, suspended in an orange-red liquid. This event marked the discovery of SCP XXXX-1, where it was visible for a further 15 hours.

SCP XXXX-1 is believed to be an organic being during what is theorised as its embryonic period, with SCP XXXX serving as an egg like structure.
Researchers specialised in the study of oviparous animals have reported it features an unusual structure, theorising that SCP XXXX does not contain a vitelline membrane, but instead the interior is though to be solely composed of [DATA REDACTED], which is believed to hold the same purpose as a regular egg yolk.

Addenum: Events where SCP XXXX-1 becomes visible have been timed to occur every 5-6 years, although the sighting has only been noted within the last decade following development in satellite technology. The last sighting was recorded as of 8th of April, 201█, a month after three specialist satellites were deployed to monitor SCP XXXX-1.

Following the original sighting of SCP XXXX-1, any recorded data on it was expunged from NASA’s records and placed into the foundation’s custody. All employees who were responsible for the planet’s initial discovery were then [DATA REDACTED] at a later date.

Addenum: Five of the first ten foundation employees who studied SCP-XXXX and its counterpart were found to have adverse alterations to their psychological state. They all become hyperfixed on SCP-XXXX-1, with one even claiming that it was “an eldritch tumor of the universe, bound to eventutally ███████ all life.” All five employees were also found to be in posession of sketches of (what is believed to depict) SCP-XXXX-1. They are all accompanied by various captions such as “he is watching”, “he lives in the rock”, and “destruction is inevitable”.

Out of all of the researchers, one shortly committed suicide, and three were given a psychological evaluation and deemed mentally unfit to work. The remaining researcher is undergoing therapy, but remains working at the foundation. Nevertheless, the of events has constituted in the O5 council implementing the rotation of the employees working on the project, which has so far proved successful. It has been noted that the early stages of SCP-XXXX-1’s effects are reversable through psychological therapy.

Researcher E. ████ was one of the few who grew intensely paranoid over the short time he spent studying SCP-XXXX-1. He was one of the first assigned to this project, and his paranoia proved irreversible. Below is a transmission from his interview, recorded shortly before he was discharged from the foundation.

Date October 17, 201█.

Interviewed: [Researcher E. ████.]

Interviewer: [Doctor D. ██████.]

Interview notes: This interview took place the same day Researcher E█████ ████ was found eratically searching the lab at 3:14 AM.

<Begin log, AM>
Doctor D. ██████: [Ah, hello E█████. Please take a seat.. Now. How are you doing?]
Researcher E. ████: Says nothing, and just stares at Doctor ██████//.
Doctor D. ██████: [I’m afraid that you need to answer me, so that we can assign you to the apropriate help-]
Researcher E. ████: [Help? I can’t be helped. None of us can.]
Doctor D. ██████: [Could you elaborate on that?]
Researcher E. ████: [Do you not understand? What is there to elaborate on? Our inevitable destruction? Brought upon us by the wrath of [DATA REDACTED] himself? What else do you want me to say!?”_
Doctor D. ██████: [I suppose you mean SCP-XXXX-1. We found your sketches of.. ‘him’.]
Foreword: Doctor D. ██████ then takes out some of the sketches that were found. Researcher E. ████ begins to appear even more distressed now, and starts shouting in protest.//
Researcher E. ██████: [Please- don’t! Not now! You.. You don’t know what you’ve done! Keep it away!”]
Foreword: Researcher E. ████ then went unconscious, which was believed to be caused by his intense stress.//
<End Log, AM>
Closing Statement: [Researcher E. ████ was deemed mentally unfit for work and was discharged from the foundation. He has been administered Class C amnestics.]

The drawings recovered from their posession all crudely depict SCP XXXX-1 (or so believed to).
SCP XXXX-1 has been drawn having a slender, body shape, similar to that of a greyhound, with pertruding ribs and long, slim legs. Its face is highly likened to a canid skull, with a hooked nose, and multiple reptile-like eyes of varying sizes appearing on its head, neck, and sometimes its back. SCP XXXX-1 also appears to have a long attenae that pertrudes from its forehead, akin to what an angler fish’s lure.
Some drawings depict the subject having long tentacles draped from its open mouth. They appear to be coated in a viscous, slimy substance which probably serves as its saliva. Another notable feature shown in full-body drawings is its clawed frontal feet, but its back legs to cloven.

All of the sketches have been collected, and an overall description of SCP XXXX-1 has been created by The Foundation, using features seen across all of the drawings to build an artist rendering of what SCP XXXX-1 may look like. It has been hypothesised that if this was its true physical form, then it would be tightly curled up inside the planet due to its comex forms. Researchers are still skeptical, however, as current technology can only track movements of SCP XXXX-1 under the surface and monitor detect abnormalities and there is no telling of its true physical appearance.

Researcher P██ █████ was the only researcher of the five to not undergo complete deterioration of his psychological state. As he was transferred onto this project much later than the others, his symptoms were picked up much quicker by senior researchers.

In interviews, he reported experiencing vivid hallucinations of SCP-XXXX-1, who spoke to him in an unknown language. He also experienced becoming fixated by the project, sudden bouts of tremors, and sleepwalking. P██’s trauma proved useful to the foundation, as he was able to confirm the accuracy of artist renditions depicting SCP-XXXX-1.

[Notes]: Two months after the submission of this file, the O5 Council have administered Researcher █████ with Class-G amnestics.
