Item #: SCP-5179
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5179 is to be contained in a locked room no less than 5 meters on all sides. All 54 instances of SCP-5179 are to be placed in clear visibility under a security camera at all times, the feed of which is to be checked hourly for any changes. 1 regular deck of playing cards must be placed in a seperate room nearby SCP-5179 at approximately 10 meters away, and be monitored similarly. This deck is to be incinierated and replaced weekly. No other playing cards, a partial set or a complete one, are allowed to be within 25 meters of SCP-5179 or the secondary deck.
Any instance of SCP-5179-1 is to be incinierated too.
Twice Weekly, one D-class personell is to be sent into the room with SCP-5179 . After one hour, two site staff members with a Psychic Resistance Score (PRS) of 3 or higher are to retreive the body for disposal.
Twice weekly, a site staff member with a Psychic Resistance Score of 3 or higher and has read this document is to apply ██ml of fresh blood via eyedropper medical tool to each instance of SCP-5179. They are to be wearing thick leather gloves throughout the whole procedure, which must be applied in such a way that they cannot remove them alone.
Testing with SCP-5179 is only to be done under the approval of the site administrator. The secondary deck is to be kept within the 5-10 meter radius at all times.
Description: SCP-5179 is a deck of playing cards with three anomolus effects.
Effect 1: The edges of each instance of SCP-5179 are exceedingly sharp, and appear to be made of a 1mm thick section of Iron. These edges rust naturally over the course of a week. However, application of fresh blood that contains iron will restore the edges to their original state.
If any edge is fully degraded or are damaged, the iron edge will vanish and reappear on the matching card in the nearest complete deck of playing cards. If one card makes the transfer, the others will follow over the course of ██ minutes regardless of their state of quality.
The edges themselves have been theorised to be sharp enough to cut through any solid material, however the weak structure of the playing card itself results in the card often being damaged before the matieral being cut is, and as such will cause immediate transferral to another deck.
Effect 2: Any human that comes into close proximity with SCP-5179 will feel a strong urge to play a card game with the deck. Humans with a PRS of 3 or higher are able to resist these effects if they are made aware of them beforehand. The game itself is not specific, and will rely on the subject's knowledge of card games. If they do not know any card games, they are likley to instead stack the cards in a pyramid. This urge seems to increase in intensity when the edges are rusted.
SCP-5179 seems to block any awareness of pain or the fact that the victim is being injured at all by SCP-5179 until the game is complete. Note that SCP-5179 does not seem to encourage injury, merely that it's an inevitable consequense of handling them.
Survivors of SCP-5179 encounters tend to develop an intense fear of any cards for any game. This is non-anomolous, but SCP-5179 does seem to override it.
Effect 3: Any previous instance of SCP-5179 (hearby referred to as an instance of SCP-5179-1) will cause anyone that touches it to be aware of SCP-5179's location, and feel an overpowering urge to play a game with it. At least ██ people have been identified as going insane from being unable to actually achieve this task. Amnestics have proven unable to remove the urge, however a single touch of SCP-5179 will remove SCP-5179-1's effect and replace it with its own. The victim may them be forcibly removed with no ill effects.
Discovery: SCP-5179 was found in a casino in █████, Australia, after what initially appeared to be a mass suicide. However, when reports were made of investigators inexplicably sitting down at a table among the bodies to play card games, the SCP foundation took over. It is assumed 3██ instances of SCP-5179-1 have existed before retreival, 2██ of which were burned.
