SCP-5770 - The Festival of Florence

This was my first article, but not my first idea. I fell into the trap of 'the-thing-that-does-a-thing' and started writing an article about a Sharpie that when you write an adjective on something it becomes that. For example, I write indestructible on myself with the marker and I become indestructible. Not a very good idea, eh?

Back to 5770, my first idea was that it would just be this festival where people died inspired by the punishments of Inferno by Dante. Not very interesting. It wasn't until I spoke with a few members of the Butterfly Squad for the article to become a pseudo-metaphor for the Foundation. The Inferno references remained and it still my favorite part of the article.

It was an extremely long article once upon a time, almost 12,000 words at one point. What happened was I wrote an Aud/Vis log for every day that the festival would have taken place. I was told multiple times that it was too long and I cut it down immensely. I also put waaaay too much symbolism/references into this thing:

The Festival started the same year Dante died.
The -1 and -2 entities' names are derived from the meaning of Virgil and Dante, the main characters of Inferno.
Most, if not, all of the last names of the people killed during 5770 have some meaning/connection to the Christian/Abrahamic God.
MTF Zeta-66 is 666, 'Guardian Angels' is self-explanatory.
Frozen-Over is also self-explanatory.
Battalion-36 "Colossians" and Battalion-21 "Romans" are direct references to bible verses that speak about sin and hypocrisy. Foreshadowing…
Pasqua is 'Easter' in Italian, Easter is when Jesus was reborn in the Christian faith, referencing Pasqua's rebirth. It's also a reference to my last name which is derived from Pasqua.
The whole article is a reference to my Italian heritage but no one would have gotten that without knowing me in real life.
The number 7 is sprinkled throughout the article.

And I've probably missed some.

It's not the best article and it has many flaws. I will eventually go back and rewrite a lot of it someday, but, the core narrative is good though and I'm proud of it, but definite work is needed.
