Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a cardboard box detailing its anomalous effects and rules of use. The box is to be kept in the games cabinet in the rec room at site 134. Any personnel wishing to use SCP-XXXX recreationally must first submit a request to schedule a practice round of the intended game to confirm that the personnel will not trigger SCP-XXXX's hazardous effects.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a die forged out of a rough metal. Analysis has shown that the metal is an alloy of brass and steel. Each side has a number of indentations in a standard d6 arrangement. Rolling SCP-XXXX in the place of a standard d6 causes an entity known as SCP-XXXX-A to materialize.
SCP-XXXX-A takes the form of a man in his early thirties with a large, bushy beard, and wears a pullover hoodie, an unmarked white baseball cap, khaki pants, and █████ brand slip-on shoes. SCP-XXXX-A refers to itself as Player Zero, and will participate in the game that SCP-XXXX was used in, claiming the role best suited for its title. If the normal player maximum is already met, SCP-XXXX-A will create its own pieces for use in play. It has also shown to create replacements for missing pieces.
SCP-XXXX-A has shown to be typically amicable by nature and, if games end especially amicably, will assist with packing away the game supplies. SCP-XXXX-A will then dematerialize along with any pieces it has created, if any. SCP-XXXX-A has shown an aversion to games not involving a standard d6, politely declining and dematerializing.
SCP-XXXX-A is semi-corporeal and can only interact with a set list of objects. The objects it can interact with are as follows:
- Any shared dice. If the game being played requires each player to have a die, then SCP-XXXX-A will claim SCP-XXXX as its own.
- Any shared decks.
- Any pieces assigned to SCP-XXXX-A. Other players are not able to interact with pieces created by SCP-XXXX-A.
- Other participating players in the case of a fury event.
The aforementioned fury event takes place when a majority of the other participating players treat the game competitively and play intensely and aggressively. When this occurs, SCP-XXXX-A will also behave more intensely and aggressively. SCP-XXXX-A can be calmed if the majority of the participating players relax and play casually again, at which point SCP-XXXX-A will revert to its normal demeanor.
If SCP-XXXX-A is not calmed before the end of the game, its hazardous second effect will occur. SCP-XXXX-A will pull out a switchblade and proceed to slit the throat of the winner. If SCP-XXXX-A wins while a fury event is active, it will kill every other participating player. SCP-XXXX-A will then dematerialize without packing away the game's materials, leaving the survivors or observers to clear the game and corpse(s). SCP-XXXX-A will then be in its aggressive state for the next twenty four hours or until another game is played where it is calmed.
SCP-XXXX was recovered from a local thrift store in ████████, IA. and was labeled as a "dice for the friendless." When questioned about the origins of the die, staff told the investigation team that it was donated to them donated to them fifteen times, the latter fourteen being from the local police. SCP-XXXX was evidently purchased all fourteen times, the buyers and their families being found dead in their homes with board games left out. SCP-XXXX was then collected under the guise of being collectors searching for rare, one-of-a-kind dice. All evidence that the die had ever been in the store was also removed, with the excuse of not wanting the store to have to deal with questions about SCP-XXXX in the future.
Addendum:
The list of games SCP-XXXX-A has participated in since containment are as follows:
- Monopoly, maximum player count not met. SCP-XXXX-A took the role of the banker. SCP-XXXX-A appeared to not be able initiate a fury event, as it was not actively participating in the game.
- Monopoly, maximum player count met. SCP-XXXX-A created a die piece for itself.
- Dungeons and Dragons, Fifth edition. SCP-XXXX-A took the role of the dungeon master. It has also shown to know all premade D&D campaigns for all editions.
All personnel wishing to play a game that is not listed must document the game and relevant conditions.
