Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5143 does not need to be fed and does not need water. It is to be kept in a containment unit with enough space for it to move around, which depends on the size of the object and how many are housed together, if there are multiple instances.

Description: SCP-5143 is an artificial bird that varies in color and size between instances. The largest occurrence recorded had a wingspan of 7.62cm, while the smallest had a wingspan of 4.36cm. SCP-5143 instances are typically comprised of EVA material and acrylic paint. However, SCP-5143 manifestations have also been recorded as being comprised of buttons, burlap, and feathers from multiple avian species. Instances of SCP-5143 are sentient, seen moving and even blinking, though they possess no internal organs nor vital systems. They are functionally immortal, continuing to be active even after being without food or water for months. They will "die", however, if damaged by an outside force. Most occurrences of SCP-5143 are unable to open its mouth; however, all so far can vocalize in the form of sounds similar to those of the common finch. There have been no examples of aggression from SCP-5143 thus far, and it is considered to be completely safe to interact with. The item is rather social and expresses what seems to be joy and curiosity when approached by faculty.
