"Biased Magnet"

Item #: SCP-4977

Object Class: Keter

Threat Level: Red

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4977 is currently held in a bronze container lined with N52 Neodymium Magnets with a combination of the north and south poles facing inward, in order to counteract SCP-4977 anomalous properties. Due to the magnetic lining, SCP-4977 is constantly suspended in its container, making no contact with any surfaces. The magnets lining the container of SCP-4977 are to be replaced monthly weekly (See Addendum 4977.2) as of 08/04/2014, and SCP-4977 moved to a secondary container of the same design, while repairs are made to the primary container. Should SCP-4977 breach containment, Dr.█████ is to be notified, and the subsequent mobilization of MTF Chi-14 "Orsted's Disciples" and retrieval operations are to begin. If SCP-4977 is to reach Earth's core, it will likely result in a WK-Class scenario.

Description: SCP-4977 is a cylindrical quazi-magnetic object attracted to the core of the Earth, rather than the north or south poles, SCP-4977 is repelled by both magnetic poles. SCP-4977 is approximately 0.84 meters in diameter, and 0.31 meters in height. SCP-4977 is currently held at Armed Reliquary and Containment Area-02. SCP-4977 is composed of 38% Copper, 21% Porcelain, 19% Nickel, 8% Human Muscle Tissue,[REDACTED].

If SCP-4977 is removed from its container, and not immediately placed in the secondary container, the item will begin burrowing through the ground towards Earth's core at the rate of 1m/s.

Addendum 4977.1 SCP-4977 was brought to foundation knowledge shortly after the Guangzhou Sinkhole when members of the Guangzhou Fire Department reported a meter wide hole under the rubble. Closes Mobile Task Forces were dispatched. Eventually, the item was recovered and Class-B amnestics were administered to all civilians. After the event a disinformation campaign was launched that covers up the incident as being caused by the nearby construction of a subway.

Addendum 4977.2 On 08/04/2014, SCP-4977 broke through its primary container and began burrowing towards the core at the rate of 4.3m/s. After the item reached approximately 9.82km below Earth's surface, when MTF Chi-14 was able to re-contain SCP-4977. Upon examination of the primary holding cell, it was revealed that all magnets had lost their magnetism, and that multiple magnets were shattered. The resulting sinkhole caused by the breach severely damaged Area-02's foundation, and resulted in complete power failure, which subsequently resulted in SCP-122 to be in an unpowered state. The multiple breaches at Area-02 caused the death of over █ foundation personal.
