Item#: SCP-4008
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4008 is to be kept in a 12 by 12 m human containment cell with a table, two chairs, some paper, and crayons. Everyday at 13:00, one D-Class person is to enter SCP-4008's containment cell and, using SCP-4008-1, will play a game of chess with SCP-4008-2. While SCP-4008-1 is able to be contained fairly easily, SCP-4008-2 is unable to be contained in a single cell, and is therefore allowed to move freely throughout the facility.
Description: SCP-4008 is the collective designation of two interrelated anomalous phenomena:
SCP-4008-1 is a 6.5 by 6.5 cm wooden folding chess-set. Typically, chess-sets like SCP-4008-1 usually include checkers pieces however, SCP-4008-1 does not include said pieces. While SCP-4008-1 doesn't seem to hold any anomalous properties on its own, any building containing SCP-4008-1, will inevitably have an instance of SCP-4008-2.
SCP-4008-2 is a completely invisible entity that can appear anywhere at anytime. SCP-4008-2 does however, seem to cause a slight feeling of dread to anyone within its vicinity. Around 13:00, SCP-4008-2 will appear to become agitated, first knocking things into the floor, then moving on to throwing chairs and flipping tables. However, playing a game of chess with it seems to prevent this. Unfortunately, if at any point, it seems as though SCP-4008-2 is losing, multiple containment breaches will occur. Multiple tests have been conducted regarding this matter. These experiments were conducted by Dr. M████.
Experiment Log #1
- The D-Class person entered SCP-4008's cell at 13:00. He then sat down at the table on the side closest to the exit. The chair on the other side moved away from the table, but then back, signifying SCP-4008-2 had sat in it. A white pawn was moved by SCP-4008-2 and the game had begun.
- After about 15 minutes, the D-Class person lost the game and the experiment ended
Experiment Log #2
- The D-Class person entered SCP-4008's cell at 13:00. He then sat down at the table on the side closest to the exit. The chair on the other side moved away from the table, but then back, signifying SCP-4008-2 had sat in it. A white pawn was moved by SCP-4008-2 and the game had begun.
- After about 23 minutes, it seemed as though SCP-4008-2 was losing, after which the chair SCP-4008-2 was sitting in moved away from the table, but was not pushed back in. A containment breach of all Safe-Class SCPs occurred and the experiment ended.
The breach was quickly dealt with and was brought under control.
Experiment Log #3
- The D-Class person entered SCP-4008's cell at 13:00. He then sat down at the table on the side closest to the exit. The chair on the other side moved away from the table, but then back, signifying SCP-4008-2 had sat in it. A white pawn was moved by SCP-4008-2 and the game had begun.
- After about 13 and a half minutes, it seemed as though SCP-4008-2 and the D-Class person were at a draw, after which the chair SCP-4008-2 was sitting in was pushed away from the table and was pushed back in. A containment breach of all Safe-Class SCPs occurred, but the experiment continued. SCP-4008-2 seemed to have then returned to its seat.
- After about 10 minutes, the D-Class person had lost the game and the experiment ended.
Experiment Log #4
- The D-Class person entered SCP-4008's cell at 13:00. He then sat down at the table on the side closest to the exit. The chair on the other side moved away from the table, but then back, signifying SCP-4008-2 had sat in it. A white pawn was moved by SCP-4008-2 and the game had begun.
- After only 5 minutes, SCP-4008-2's king was in check, after which the chair SCP-4008-2 was sitting in was thrown to the back of the cell. A containment breach of all Safe-Class SCPs occurred, but the experiment continued. SCP-4008-2 seemed to have then returned to its seat.
- After about 50 minutes, SCP-4008-2 still seemed to be losing, after which the chair SCP-4008-2 was sitting in was pushed away from the table. A containment breach of all Euclid-Class SCPs had occurred and the experiment ended.
The breach was quickly dealt with and brought under control.
Addendum
As of right now, all further experiments involving SCP-4008 have terminated for security reasons.
