SCP-XXXX before being brought to the facility.
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the dangerous nature of SCP-XXXX, the object is to be contained in a floorless holding cell located at Site-23 in a Medium Containment Zone. No physical contact made to SCP-XXXX outside of testing where only Class-D personnel may approach it. SCP-XXXX is to be watered by an automatic sprinkler system daily. No sunlight is needed (read Description).
Description: SCP-XXXX resembles a common Quercus lyrata or an Overcup Oak. Man-made objects within a range of 0.25 meters of SCP-XXXX will begin transforming into various forms of fauna. The speed at which this transformation takes place varies depending on the mass of the object, with larger objects taking longer to change. Human subjects within this range will express feelings of relaxation and be compelled to lay back on SCP-XXXX.
When any human comes into contact with SCP-XXXX, they slowly start becoming covered with thick vines and many flora organisms blossom. Once fully covered, the vines detach from SCP-XXXX and the person can no longer move or be moved and no longer exhibits signs of life. After approximately 24 hours, the victim and their flora exoskeleton decompose completely, leaving no trace. SCP-XXXX does not have the same effect on other biological organisms.
When extracting SCP-XXXX, personnel observed that the SCP wasn't damaged and no branches fell off. After SCP-XXXX was transported to Site-23, tests to damage SCP-XXXX were performed including burning, chopping, and trimming the branches. All tests have resulted in failure. SCP-XXXX has been concluded indestructible.
When placed within a structure that obstructs its view of the sky, SCP-XXXX 'projects' the image of a sky and grassy field on all nearby surfaces. This projection includes an image of the Sun that produces sufficient solar radiation to permit photosynthesis to occur. Tests attempting to walk past the walls into the “outside” have all failed, as the Class-D ends up running into the wall.
Experiment Log-XXXX-01:
Experiment Log 16/01/03 (YY/MM/DD)
Recorded by Dr. James Flint
<Begin Log>
Dr. Flint: Test-01-XXXX. Doctor J. Flint. Begin.
Dr. Flint: D-3453 please enter the containment chamber and wait by the door for further
instructions.D-3453: Uhh, okay.
Distant sounds of crunching leaves.
D-3453: So what now, it is just a tree.
Dr. Flint: Just tell us how you feel after being close to the object.
D-3453: I feel kind of relaxed, I guess?
Dr. Flint: Please specify this “relaxed” feeling you are experiencing.
D-3453: Well, the tree makes me feel calm and stress-free. I just want to sit down and sleep.
Dr. Flint: Do you feel anything else or is anything physically happening to your person?
D-3453: No, I’m just sleepy and relaxed. It's really nice.
Dr. Flint: Alright, D-3453. Please make direct contact with the SCP.
D-3453: It feels like a normal tree… Bark and all.
Dr. Flint: Don't take your hand off just yet.
D-3453: Wait, why is there something growing around my hand? It looks like vines!
Dr. Flint: Try moving your hand. See if you can break free.
D-3453: I can't move it! It's completely surrounded!
Sounds of distant struggling.
Dr. Flint: Stay calm, D-3453. Try to get your hand unstuck.
D-3453: What do you think I'm doing?!
Dr. Flint: That isn't remaining calm, D-3453.
D-3453: It's traveling up my arm! HELP!!
Dr. Flint: We can't do anything to help. Entering the chamber would be too dangerous.
Sounds of distant struggling begin to fade.
Dr. Flint: D-3453, can you hear me?
D-3453: …
Dr. Flint: Class-D, please respond by making a noise if you can hear me.
D-3453: …
Dr. Flint: The Class-D is presumed to be suffocating or already dead. Shame. End the log.
<End Log>
Notes: The Class-D victim and the flora exoskeleton decomposed after about 24 hours passed. No signs of the Class-D were found.
Addendum-XXXX-01: ORIGIN No data.
Addendum-XXXX-02: DISCOVERY SCP-XXXX was discovered in the state of Oklahoma when an adult male, 24 years of age, sat up against the SCP to relax during a hike. Their friend, who was walking with them, saw the SCP's effect start to take place. The victim tried to move but was unable to get up. After they were fully encased, the friend contacted authorities and word got to the Foundation.
When the Foundation extraction team arrived at the scene, there were local police officers closing off the area and interrogating the victim's friend. They were all memory wiped and escorted from the scene.
Attempts to move the victim ended unsuccessfully. The flora-based exoskeleton formed around the victim rooted itself far deep underground and could not be uprooted. The victim and the exoskeleton both decomposed, leaving no trace of anything unordinary happening.
Mobile Task Force Theta-4 successfully uprooted SCP-XXXX and transported it to Site-23 for analysis and testing. Transportation required multiple vehicles to keep switching out, as they kept turning into flora from contact.
Addendum-XXXX-03: ADDITIONAL NOTES
Future tests to be conducted:
- Attempting to destroy or damage SCP-XXXX All attempts have failed.
- Attempting to enter the "outside" Fail.
- Having a non-human organism interact with SCP-XXXX No effect.
- Having a Class-D make contact with the fallen leaves No effect.
- Having a Class-D make contact with SCP-XXXX then back away The same effect occurs; the subject still gets encapsulated.
- Having a Class-D make contact with SCP-XXX then creating a large distance from it
- Climbing SCP-XXXX
- Throwing objects at SCP-XXXX
All new information relating to the origin of SCP-XXXX is to be reported to lead researcher Dr. James Flint and is to be classified immediately.
