Item number: SCP-5045

Object Class: Keter

Containment procedures: Due to it's nature it is impossible to successfully contain SCP-5045, knowledge of SCP-5045 must be heavily restricted and only available to level 4 researchers and above; doing thus will prevent hysteria and chaos within both Foundation and non-Foundation personnel. All information containing and mentioning SCP-5045 is to be located in If a SCP-5045 entity is located by foundation deep cosmic probes, with a relative vector to earth, governments must use foundation perma-frost chambers to move the population of earth to the nearest exo-planet, post arrival everyone under level 4 clearance level must be administered Class I amnestics, political boundaries re-written, and history altered to suit the needs of the current exo-planet.

Messier 82 galaxy

Description: As of launch of the Deep Space Probe Satellite: Charlie Theta on ██/██/19██, numerous anomalous events were observed within the Messier 82 galaxy. It seemed as if planets and other large astronomical bodies were crumbling under themselves, for reasons hitherto unknown. Using SCP-████ it was made possible to instantaneously appear at these extraterrestrial locations, allowing for successful observation and experimentation of SCP-5045. SCP-5045 is a long worm-like entity, with a length of approximately 1016 km length and 500 km width. The exoskeleton is similar on a molecular level to the hide of SCP-682, relations between these two entities are undergoing investigation. SCP - 5045 has been observed to be using a currently unknown method of propulsion to attach to the crust of planets. Maximum recorded speed of 0.8 C. After attachment, SCP-5045 will use it's mandibles to burrow into the planet's core, and begin consuming the core. This will result in a period of catastrophical tectonic instability, which effects include, but are not limited to:

  • Volcanos
  • Earthquakes
  • █████
  • Tsunamis
  • Sinkholes

For a period of between five (5) hours to six (6) months, the movement of SCP-5045 will create gravitational instability, as a result of loss of the After the consumption of the core, the worm wears the crust of a planet as a shell, similarly to a crustacean - Dardanus calidus1. Post core consumption, the celestial body will suffer from anomalous gravitational properties such as weightlessness and/or gravity wells, manifesting in locations, hypothetically, with relation to movement of SCP-5045, however these relations are yet to be confirmed. Mobile Task Force Beta-7 ("The Maz Hatters") equipped with video recorders, LOS oxygen suits2 and various weaponry to further analyize this anomaly (See logs). Increased levels of aggression towards SCP-5045 results in SCP-5045 in releasing various gasses through the crust of the celestial object, increasing in lethality as more attempts to pass through its exo-skeleton is made.

  1. No gasses released
  2. After approximately 2 minutes of external damage: NOx gasses released
  3. After approximately 5 minutes of external damage: Hydrogen azide
  4. After approximately 10 minutes of external damage: Ethylene oxide
  5. After approximately 15 minutes of continuous damage: Stibine
  6. After approximately 30 minutes of continuous damage: █████

Scanning the planet confirmed the presence of these gasses over the entire atmosphere of the celestial body. After consumption of the entire planet,SCP-5045 goes into a state of dormancy, in which it resides for a very large period of time, depending on the amount it consumed: the more mass consumption, the longer the state of dormancy. This state may last anywhere from 2 years to an estimate of more than 500. Any damage done to SCP-5045 will end the state of dormancy and cause it to release gasses listed above. After approximately 1 hour of continual damage, SCP-5054 consume the crust of the celestial body, hence destroying it. If dormancy is exited naturally, then SCP-5045 will exit the shell of the celestial body and locate the next target for it's feast. Currently there are 58 SCP-5045 labelled respectively from SCP-5045-1 to 58, however, luckily, SCP-5045 are not observed to reproduce.
