Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe.

Special Containment Procedures: The artifact is to be stored in a standard aluminum 'truck box' toolbox at █████-██ with a heavy-duty steel lock. Due to the nature of the device it is to be used only by D-Class personnel with authorization from on-site research staff. The SCP is to be returned to the toolbox after use.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a rechargeable battery-operated █████ brand power drill. The battery has become permanently attached to the drill; through anomalous means. The chuck is also jammed, a 3/8th In. [.95 Cm.] drill bit inserted into and permanently in place. Any attempts to remove the battery or the drill bit have met with failure. Despite not being able to remove the battery for recharging, it still functions at seemingly full charge.

When the SCP is used to drill into a surface, it functions seemingly as any drill would and creates a hole, removing strands of excess material to hollow out said surface. In a window of approximately ten [ten] minutes and three [3] hours, a metallic growth [henceforth SCP-XXXX-2] begins in the hole. The time of starting and the time it takes to "grow" varies by the depth of the hole drilled. As the metallic structure "grows" it applies "threads" to the hole as though to grip and continue growing forth. Once complete, SCP-XXXX-2 is identical to a basic Phillips-head screw of the length matching the depth of the hole it formed in. It can be removed as a regular screw would, and upon analysis, contains primarily [above 90%] of a low grade steel. It can also be reused like a regular screw, barring any damage upon removal.

In addition, as SCP-XXXX-2 grows, so too does another "screw" grow, known as SCP-XXXX-3, that grows in the host that used SCP-XXXX originally. It begins at the most superficial available surface on the individual that used the drill. Usually this is the skin, but there have been cases of SCP-XXXX-3 growing on/into the subject's eye or other more pertinent surfaces as well. It should also be noted that the growth of SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3 are different. XXXX-2 begins at the lowermost segment of the drilled hole. In the case of XXXX-3, it starts as a small silvery "rash," that itself "screws" into the flesh of the subject to the same depth of the hole drilled, before "bulging" up into a flat head screw; another notable difference. Composition between the two [2] remain the same.
