A discarded piece of shell off of a mature SCP-XXXX instance.
Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-XXXX’s size, as well as invulnerability to standard weaponry, SCP-XXXX cannot be contained. SCP-XXXX’s shipping routes are to be redirected by use of shucked clams. SCP-XXXX is to be lead away from populated areas, undersea infrastructure, and commercial shipping routes.
Description: SCP-XXXX refers to 17 instances of Loxorhynchus crispatus (decorator crab) currently inhabiting the Atlantic, Northern Pacific, and Southern Ocean. SCP-XXXX collects standard cargo-shipping containers from ports, using them to construct a shell much like a non-anomalous Loxorhynchus crispatus. SCP-XXXX instances’ shells are impenetrable by standard ballistic weaponry. Furthermore, SCP-XXXX are approximately 46 times larger than a non-anomalous Loxorhynchus crispatus. SCP-XXXX instances' containers have been found to contain a variety of items, ranging from children’s books to Stinger surface-to-air missiles. SCP-XXXX instances travel on different routes, though each has been found to deposit their “shells” on aquatic areas rich in biodiversity, typically coral reefs.
SCP-XXXX instances pose no hostility towards any noncommercial vessels, frequently readjusting their shipping routes so as to not disturb small fishing vessels. However, SCP-XXXX instances have been found to ram shipping vessels to collect their cargo-shipping containers on 42 different occasions, resulting in 115 casualties. Rarely, SCP-XXXX instances “shed” their containers similar to a crustacean’s shell molting process. Contents of “shed” containers are attached below.
Container Contents: Approximately 27,000 rubber bath toys, including yellow ducks, red beavers, green frogs, and blue turtles.
Location: Approximately 121 kilometres south-southwest off the coast of Anchorage, Alaska. Container displayed claw marks on the doors, causing contents of the container to be deposited into ocean currents.
Container Contents: Copies of Dr. Seuss books, including “Oh, The Places You’ll Go,” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”
Location: Approximately 500 kilometres south of Oman. Shipping container included an engraving, displaying ‘MOL C—mfor-‘. A nearby shipwreck displayed claw marks, as well as hull stress patterns consistent with crushing from above.
Container Contents: 498 packs of ‘Black Dragon’ brand fireworks. Approximately 3 puncture holes were located in the top of the container. The cause of these holes is as of yet unknown, due to the durability of SCP-XXXX’s shell.
Location: Approximately 40 kilometres west of Madagascar.
Container Contents: Approximately 21 barrels of biohazardous waste, all empty.
Location: 217 kilometres off the coast of Canberra. Footprints and claw drag marks suggest SCP-XXXX trailed the ship past the Great Barrier Reef.
Container Contents: 12 empty containers. No contents nearby. Serial numbers correspond to a ship transporting aquatic animals to the Oakland Zoo, in preparation for a new ‘Wonders of The Deep’ exhibit.
Location: Approximately 42 kilometres west-northwest of Monterey, California.
Container Contents: 1 heavily damaged M42 ‘Duster’ anti-aircraft tank, assorted weaponry including helmets, assault rifles, and ration packs.
Location: Approximately 432 kilometres south-southeast of Kyoto. The method by which SCP-XXXX instances are obtaining biohazardous material and weaponry is as of yet unknown. SCP-XXXX’s motives are yet to be determined.
