Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is to be kept inside an enclosure of standard size for humanoid specimen which shall be closed at all times. The walls are to be reinforced with ten (10) centimeters thick lead or other heavy metal (containment procedures revised after the incident logged in addendum XXX-1). No security personnel is to be posted outside of the enclosure at night, see addendum XXX-1. The entity is to be monitored remotely via camera recording as well as recordings made using thermal imaging.
Foundation personnel ARE NOT to interact with SCP-XXX more than TWO (2) times EACH WEEK, see addendum XXX-2.
Description: SCP-XXX is a humanoid creature approximately 180 centimeters tall, its height is an approximation as the creature is often observed hunched forward. Black in appearance with distinctive shiny eyes when observed in pitch black; SCP-XXX has ,except for the eyes, undistinguishable facial features. It is often observed being engulfed in a black veil which make it difficult to spot on camera, thermal imaging is therefore used in unison with regular imaging to study its behavior and anomalous properties. When SCP-XXX is not “cloaked” it can be seen as extremely thin in build with long and thin limbs ending in claws about the size of human fingers.
SCP-XXX anomalous nature become apparent when encountering humans during the night, sometimes starting from sundown.
SCP-XXX will hunt humans as soon as they are in total darkness. Most of the times, the entity will wait for the human target to fall asleep, when the target is sleeping SCP-XXX will proceed to touch the human by whatever mean. Upon touching the human, SCP-XXX will instantly disappear; through experiences with D-class personnel, it has been established that the entity enter the victim’s dream upon physical contact. The dream differed for each D-class subject but they all experienced vivid nightmares.
It has been theorized that SCP-XXX feeds on fears as all interactions with the entity and D-class personnel led to extreme fear induced by vivid nightmares. It is still unclear if SCP-XXX hunt humans in need of sustenance through producing nightmares, since the start of containment after the incident logged in addendum XXX-1, SCP-XXX was contained at all time with very few interactions with D-class personnel. Because of those few interactions, it has been theorized that SCP-XXX does not need sustenance, it is however, still debatable.
Addendum XXX-1
██/██/20██ 14:35
SCP-XXX just arrived in containment, it is enclosed in a regular holding tank. We know that SCP-XXX is active at sundown but much is still unknown; we assumed standard containment procedures with armed guards outside of the tank. We will begin testing with D-class personnel in the coming days.
██/██/20██ 21:52
Cameras malfunctioned from 21:49 in SCP-XXX’s enclosure, security personnel was dispatched inside to visually identify and acknowledge the presence of SCP-XXX in its tank. Upon entering the cell, the security team lost radio contact with teams outside the tank, a second team was then ordered to enter the cell but could not comply as SCP-XXX was seen exiting its holding area by phasing through the front door. The second team managed to stop SCP-XXX at the end of the corridor [REDACTED] inside a small room that used to be an elevator shaft but was decommissioned as it was made out of heavy metals, precisely made out of an alloy of lead and zinc. When the entity arrived in said room it was not able to phase through walls again, this phenomena was logged and the containment procedures changed to show this phenomena. After SCP-XXX was successfully re-contained, the first security team was found unconscious, sweating, breathing heavily and seemed to be in a state of rapid eye movement sleep. After a week of quarantine they were deemed fit for duty.
Addendum XXX-2
D-8227 and D-8257 entered SCP-XXX enclosure to begin testing on the entity’s ability to generate fear. Subjects D-8227 and D-8257 will thereafter be mentioned as subject A and B respectively.
Subject A entered first, it was his first time with SCP-XXX, subject B was his third time this week and seemed visibly agitated. SCP-XXX interacted with subject A for around twenty (20) minutes before waking up sweating profusely and with an erratic heartbeat, clocking at 160 beat per minute, subject A was visibly distress and could not calm down for the interview scheduled after interaction with SCP-XXX. One week later subject A was interviewed to obtain information on SCP-XXX abilities, subject A could not recall anything that happened during the interaction.
Subject B was reluctant in interacting with SCP-XXX, he was dragged inside by security personnel which immediately vacated the area after locking the door. Contrary to subject A, subject B seemed distressed in its sleep, after the twenty (20) minutes mark, subject B woke up drenched in sweat and with a heartbeat of 175 which lead to a massive heart failure, the medical personnel could not bring subject B back.
New testing protocols have, since then, be developed to avoid stressing subjects’ hearts.
