(Above) A photo of SCP-4xxx on top of a white piece of the white piece of paper used for its testing.

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4xxx is to be kept in a glass box with small holes in the top, in case it can breathe. It is only to be removed during tests. The box should be a cube with 1 foot as the length, width, and height. This is to give it room in case it is completely sentient, as we have not proven this yet. The only thing allowed in the box is a small notepad of sticky notes, to see if it can write anything. The box is to be stored in a locked room that only approved personnel may enter. It must stay in the room, and testing will be conducted in this room.

SCP-4xxx takes the appearance of a standard black flair pen, but without any logo. It has a black tip with a black body. Its shape is similar to that of a cone but with a flat end instead of a point. the cap is similarly shaped, but it is hollow to fit over the tip. It has a silver-colored metal clip attached to it. It was originally purchased in a pack of 4 of these pens.

Description:

When used, the ink color it puts out is completely random with each stroke. The other three pens are completely normal. The standard known colors (after being put through tests) so far are (names currently not given): green (#008000), blue (#0700ce), red (#ff0000), and black (#000000). The unconventional known colors are: white (#ffffff), cyan (#00ddcc), yellow (#fbfd00), pink (#fb00fd), and red-orange (#fd6600). Each test continues to produce different results, as SCP-4xxx could have access to the entire color spectrum. This could include gray, but the results on this have not come in yet. The second wave of testing is occurring as I write this.

SCP-4xxx shows no signs of speech, motion, or breathing. However, it could be capable of thought and choice, as it might have the ability to choose which color it puts out. The only piece of evidence against this is the seemingly random choice of color, which could also suggest an inability to choose. It shows no signs of hostility whatsoever.
