Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8765-A1 is to be enclosed within Area 74, disguised externally as a chemical warehouse owned by the British government. Entering SCP-8765-A1 is not to be allowed under any circumstances, except for the reinforcing of Area 74-A with personnel or supplies. At all times when SCP-8765-A1 is not being opened for this purpose it is to be held shut with three reinforced osmium bulkheads wighing no less than fifty tons each, positioned in such a way that SCP-8765-A1 is obstructed from opening by their placement. At no point is SCP-8765-A1 to be opened from within SCP-8765.

Addendum: Bulkhead doors have proven insufficient. Bulkheads will remain in place to disincentivise the use of SCP-8765-A1 from within SCP-8765, but are not to be expected to prevent the motion of SCP-8765-D or the occurrence of a Pandora Event.

A detachment of VMTF1 Omega-2 "Dead Men Walking" is to remain within SCP-8765. The living quarters, storage facilities and other buildings which facilitate the stationing of MTF Omega-2 are collectively referred to as Area 74-A. The detachment of MTF Omega-2 within SCP-8765 is to remain at ten individuals at all times in order to maintain a significant enough Foundation presence within SCP-8765 that political clout can be exerted on matters relating to SCP-8765. At no point are members of MTF Omega-2 to open SCP-8765-A1 from inside SCP-8765, or attempt to leave SCP-8765 by any method.

Members of MTF Omega-2 are to utilise SCP-8765-C once every week in order to communicate with Area 74. Following a Usinsk event members of MTF Omega-2 are to attempt communication with Foundation personnel at the earliest possible time in order to establish the extent of the damage caused by the Usinsk event to Area 74-A and what supplies will be needed to repair this damage.

In the event of a previously unopened SCP-8765-A instance opening from the outside a non-combative approach is to be taken towards any individuals who enter SCP-8765. These individuals are to be escorted to a quarantine facility within Area 74-A established for this purpose in order to prevent the spread of disease.

In the event of hostile action being taken by newcomers to SCP-8765 these newcomers are to be neutralised as quickly as possible, following which a vote will be taken between the inhabitants of SCP-8765 to determine whether or not a Pandora event will be induced. Members of MTF Omega-2 are to acquiesce to this result of this vote, regardless of personal opinion on the matter.

No physical contact is to be made with SCP-8765-D, regardless of how it is perceived at any given moment.

A small-scale, one hundred megaton nuclear warhead is to be maintained within Area 74-A at all times, connected to a short-range proximity sensor attached to the interior handle of SCP-8765-A1. This warhead is to detonate as soon as the proximity sensor is triggered by the presence of a potential user.

Addendum: The use of the Area 74-A warhead has proven insufficient at preventing Pandora events due to the nature of Usinsk events. The use of the Area 74-A warhead has therefore been discontinued, as it poses a needless risk to the safety of Area 74-A.

Description: SCP-8765 refers to an extradimensional space, accessed through SCP-8765-A instances. The explored area of SCP-8765 is known as SCP-8765-B, which contains SCP-8765-C and SCP-8765-D.

SCP-8765-A1

SCP-8765-A1 is a door set into the wall of a small warehouse in the countryside on the outskirts of Bristol, England. SCP-8765-A1 is the only known SCP-8765-A instance present within baseline reality.

No known sensory equipment can percieve SCP-8765-A1, returning only a continuation of the wall in which it is set. A consistent description of SCP-8765-A1 cannot be gathered, with the surface of the door varying in material depending on the observer. Wood is the most common material percieved to be used, but other materials including steel, copper, stone, obsidian and bone have been recorded at different times. It is believed that this is caused by SCP-8765 being subject to "consensus reality"2.

When opened from the outside3 SCP-8765-A1 shows only a perfectly black void. This void, unlike SCP-8765-A1, can be detected by sensory equipment and has been found to emit no radiation of any kind as the void blocks all travel of energy or matter from SCP-8765-B to baseline reality.

Travel through the void is possible therefore only from baseline reality to SCP-8765-B, with any object or individual who enters the void being transported into SCP-8765-B without incident. From SCP-8765-B baseline reality can be viewed through SCP-8765-A1 without complication.

Addendum: It is has been reliably observed that the travel blocking ability of SCP-8765-A instances ceases to apply during Pandora events. The reason for this is currently under investigation.

SCP-8765-B

SCP-8765-B is a large circular hall. Along the walls of this hall are a large number of doors, of which SCP-8765-A1 is one, collectively termed SCP-8765-A instances.

Like the surface of SCP-8765-A1 the size of and material used to construct SCP-8765-B cannot be accurately determined, but is invariable large enough to contain the estimated number of SCP-8765-A instances, which is approximately ten times larger than the number of SCP-8765-A instances which have been opened.

Each SCP-8765-A instance is connected to a seperate instance of reality or "parallel universe". Exploration of these universes is impossible due to the nature of SCP-8765-A instances, and visual inspection is impossible without triggering a Pandora event.

Currently SCP-8765-B is inhabited by no fewer than sixty two fifty three individuals, who originate from the universes accessed via six SCP-8765-A instances. Contact with these universes has been established seperately since the discovery of SCP-87654, and collectively has lead to the formation of the Pandora Treaty, by which all involved universes are committed to the containment of SCP-8765.

Universe Organisation Number of Individuals Notes

9l96-fE2ξ-D The Howlers of the Black Moon 10 The HBM uses an unfamiliar naming system and identifies anomalous objects as 'Darkside Aberrations', but is otherwise extremely similar to the Foundation of baseline reality.
09q0-l62ξ-T The SCP Foundation 10 A T-category universe, the inhabitants of 09q0-l62ξ-T require specialist breathing equipment to function in baseline reality. This equipment is not required within SCP-8765-B.
4l81-fE2ξ-D None 2 A pair of civillians currently trapped within SCP-8765-B.
9l08-fH7ξ-D The Reformed Insurgents 10 An iteration of the Chaos Insurgency, they have shown no inclination to induce Pandora events and are extremely willing to contribute to the garrison of SCP-8765-B.
9l91-fJ7ξ-D The Astrolabe Institute 10 Self-described as "a scientist-run Public Media & Containment Company dedicated to Containment of the Anomalous", the Astrolabe Institute does not attempt to maintain a veil in its own universe and can draw on a large number of volunteers to house within SCP-8765-B.
95KK-fE2ξ-D The Global Occult Coalition 10 1 Includes former Foundation members following a merger of the GOC and SCP Foundation Universe subject to Pandora event.

Once an individual has entered SCP-8765-B it is impossible for that individual to leave SCP-8765 without triggering a Pandora event in the destination universe. Other forms of multiversal travel5 conducted from SCP-8765-B also cause Pandora events in their destination universe.

SCP-8765-C

SCP-8765-C is a device located at the geographic center of SCP-8765-B. It is constructed of an unknown material with a glossy white finish. This material has been determined to be immeasurably hard, unaffected by temperature and not able to conduct sound waves. As SCP-8765-C cannot thefrefore be damaged it is unable to be removed for testing.

The method of SCP-8765-C's function is currently unknown, but it appears to have two purposes. The first purpose of SCP-8765-C is as a communication device, capable of broadcasting via an unknown medium which can be interpreted by any known information receiver anywhere in any tested universe6. The second function is as a device similar to a Scranton Reality Anchor (SRA), but which produces an otherwise unprecedented level of reality in its immediate environs7.

The area immediately surrounding SCP-8765-C is consistently constructed from the same material as SCP-8765-C. This area does not change as the perception of SCP-8765-B changes.

SCP-8765-D

SCP-8765-D is an object of indeterminate size, shape and nature, with traits determined by consensus reality. No part of SCP-8765-D can be detected by automated sensors except for its hume level, which is deduced from its surroundings. Common choices of form include:

  • A human torso and head, suffering extreme burns and missing multiple limbs.
  • A human dressed in a way the observer percieves as "noble", with significant damage to the torso area.
  • A large, gelatinous mass damaged "to the point of crippling injury"8.
  • A dead human lacking any facial features except for the mouth.
  • A series of small black spheres in a larger dark miasma.

Regardless of form SCP-8765-D's position remains the same, seated at the base of SCP-8765-C. SCP-8765-D is an extremely powerful unreality node, and forms the single least "real" object currently known by the Foundation, with an immeasurably low Hume level9. Physical contact with SCP-8765-D has not been attempted results in the individual making the contact being killed over the course of an eight second period. No consistent method of death has been detected thus far.

Pandora Event

A Pandora event is an event which occurs whenever an exit from SCP-8765-B is opened from within SCP-8765-B. SCP-8765-D will begin to move towards this exit10, which will prove impossible to close from within SCP-8765-B. This travel takes exactly 32.51 seconds, regardless of the distance between the exit and SCP-8765-D's starting position.

When SCP-8765-D attempts to enter the universe on the far side of the exit that universe will begin to undergo rapid and severe reality degradation. Shortly after SCP-8755-D passes across the threshold of the SCP-8765-A instance this degradation will cause the total destruction of the destination universe. No subsequent attempts to enter or contact the destination universe have been successful.

Following the destruction of the destination universe the relevant SCP-8765-A instance (if there is one) will be removed and replaced with a different instance. SCP-8765-D will then return to its resting position at the base of SCP-8765-C.

Usinsk Event

Periodically SCP-8765-D will begin to make a loud sound11. This is the first sign that SCP-8765-D is about to induce an Usinsk event. An Usinsk event is a large-scale illusion experienced by all individuals within SCP-8765-B (henceforth the 'subjects') simultaneously. During an Usinsk event the subjects will believe themselves to be within a fictional scenario with constructed pasts and identities which fit this scenario. The scenarios vary wildly in nature, but always feature a large door and SCP-8765-D itself. The door will always be presented as a barrier to progress in some way, while SCP-8765-D will be secreted somewhere within the scenario as a ruling figure.
If SCP-8765-D is found within the scenario by an individual who acknowledges it as SCP-8765-D then the scenario collapses and the subjects return to 8765-B. If the door is opened before this happens then the door will be revealed to have been an instance of SCP-8765-A, and a Pandora event will be induced.

Discovery

SCP-8765-A1 was originally discovered via Foundation liaisons within the british secret service, who brought attention to the SCP-8765-A1 after noticing the presence of the void behind the door. As no data could be gathered from beyond the void a agent Daniels of MTF Omega-212 was brought to SCP-8765-A1 to perform an expedition. The operative was fitted with a wireless transmitting camera, as well as a wired camera. Both camera feeds were lost immediately after the operative entered the void, with no information being gathered from beyond the doorway.

Approximately five and a half minutes later13 the following message was recieved at the inter-universal communication point at Site 120.

<Pitcher> Message begins. Pitcher14 has been previously identified as Head Researcher Camila Luis, a Foundation doctor of universe 9s83-fE2ξ-D. A siren can be heard in the background throughout the transmission.Hello, this is universe 9s83-fE2ξ-D calling universe 8d57-fE2ξ-D. We are pitcher. I repeat, this is universe 9s83-fE2ξ-D calling universe 8d57-fE2ξ-D, we are pitch-

<Catcher> The catcher of this message is Camila Luis, Assistant Researcher at Site 120. This is universe 8d57-fE2ξ-D, we are recieving you. We are catcher.

<Pitcher> Hello there catcher! We appear to be having a small problem with our Cant counters.

<Catcher> … You want to request a calibration?

<Pitcher> No, I don't think we need that. They're, uh, they're all breaking down.

<Catcher> All of them?

<Pitcher> All of them. I think we're experiencing a total… a total reality failure. Yes, yes I think that's true.

<Catcher> Oh god, are you sure?

<Pitcher> I'm, uh… haha, yes, yes pretty sure.

<Catcher> Could… can you tell us why?

<Pitcher> Nobody has said yet. There's not been anything from Site-01, or anything like that. It's just… just me. Me and the wormhole generators, and they're all going haywire since a few minutes ago.

<Catcher> Can you- Oh, I'm sorry he's… hang on, I'm… Control over the microphone switches to Head Researcher Michael Parks Hello, Pitcher? Pitcher yes can you confirm that this is a total failure and not a hardware malfunction?

<Pitcher> The… The hills outside are flowing. They're flowing through the walls.

<Catcher> Pitcher can you confirm that, a landscape breakdown within five minutes of initiation?

<Pitcher> The microphone is dropped to the floor. I want my mother.

<Catcher> Pitcher? Pitcher can you confirm the total breakdown?

<Pitcher> … I want my mother…

Signal degenerates into static.

A Foundation-wide alert Vicinus15 alert was sounded, prompting a lockdown of all interuniversal and interdimensional studies. SCP-8765-A1 was, as a suspected interdimensional anomaly, closed at this time.

Approximately nineteen minutes after the issuing of the Vicinus alert a second transmission was recieved at Site 120. Transmission follows.

<Pitcher> Hello? Hello is this on?

<Catcher> Is that you, Camila? Is that 9s-

<Pitcher> Static. -ucking isn't! Listen to me, I'm an operative for a very special government agency. I need you to find- what country are you in?

<Catcher> ███████.

<Pitcher> Alright. I need you to call the FBI, tell them to get special liaison Enrico Hardy from the UIU. Tell them he needs to contact the Foundation. He'll know what-

<Catcher> Pitcher, this is Site 120. We are the Foundation.

<Pitcher> … 120 is the inter-universe one isn't it?

<Catcher> Yes, this is the inter-universe communication unit for universe 8d57-fE2ξ-D. Who are you?

<Pitcher> … Does the Black Moon Howl?

<Catcher> Only at blue stars.

<Pitcher> I'm a member of MTF Omega-2, agent number 54092. I'm in another dimension or something. A room full of doors.

<Catcher> How did you contact this unit?

<Pitcher> Look, I went into a door, I entered a big room full of doors, saw this… Device that I'm using to talk to you, saw the mutilated corpse on the floor, and tried to go home.

<Catcher> And then?

<Pitcher> I opened the doorway home, but there was nobody on the other side. The corpse started to claw its way to the door and I ran through, but I couldn't find my way out of this stupid British warehouse. I ran back into the door room and just kind of dodged to the side when the corpse went through.

<Catcher> …. go on.

<Pitcher> The whole… the warehouse on the other side started to melt. It turned all wavy and it hurt to look at and then the door vanished.

<Catcher> …

<Pitcher> I went to this device and I told it I wanted to call my home universe. I think it just went for the weakest point of entry.

<Catcher> …

<Pitcher> Hello?

<Catcher> I think you may have got the wrong door.

Usinsk Event Log

Format:

Event number:

General Description:

Result:

Notes:

Event number: E-8765-1

8765-D position: Mrs Lucy Daniels

8765-A position: The door to Agent Michael Daniels' Bedroom

General Description: Agent Daniels awakes in his own bed in baseline reality, his expedition into SCP-8765 having been a dream. There are no recorded discrepancies with the room, or in the view which can be seen from the window. He arises, uses the lavatory and shaves in his ensuite bathroom before returning to his bedroom in order to leave and procure breakfast.
It is at this point that Agent Daniels attempts conversation with his wife. When she does not reply he attempts to engage in conversation again, enquiring if she is of good health. Agent Daniels then realises that his wife is sick, which prompts him to remember that she died of lung cancer three years ago, which in turn causes him to join MTF Omega-2 and enter the expedition to SCP-8765. This realisation allows Agent Daniels to percieve SCP-8765-D and end the event.

Result: The Usinsk event ends.

Notes: The first known Usinsk event, and the only known Usinsk event in which no subject recieved an altered identity.

Event number: E-8765-53

8765-D position: Unknown. Hypothesised to be the Captain of the Cantebury Hope.

8765-A position: The escape door from the light starship Cantebury Hope.

General Description: The subjects of the Pandora event believe themselves to be the crew of the light starship Cantebury Hope16, who are attempting to escape their vessel following a catastrophic failure of the main thrust relay. An estimated twenty foreign entities are also on board the Canterbury Hope, and performing various combative and sabotage actions over the course of the scenario.
Aproximately one third of the subjects enter combat with the invading forces, who are revealed to be cybernetically enhanced humans utilising advanced solid-shot weaponry. Despite not being trained in zero-gravity combat the subjects are successful in stalling the enemy long enough for their allies to open the escape hatch with the intention of venting the ship and thereby sending the attackers into space.

Result: An unknown universe is exposed as an exit. A Pandora event is induced.

Notes: The targeted universe has not been identified, but had covered its SCP-8765-A instance with an osmium bulkhead. This bulkhead was not effective in stopping SCP-8765-D's progress, who continued through it as if it were not present. Special containment procedures have been amended to reflect this.

Event number: E-8765-68

8765-D position: Unknown

8765-A position: SCP-2317

General Description: All fifty-three subjects appear in SCP-2317-Prime. The legs of the subjects are shackled with bronze manacles, which are in turn connected to further shackles on their hands and the shackles of the other subjects. All subjects are wearing ragged cloth robes and perceive themselves to be sacrifices to an undisclosed entity. Other individuals, who are not subjects, are present wearing fine red robes or plate armor made of bronze. All non-subject individuals are either performing or protecting the performance of a ritual of an undetermined nature.

Approximately seven minutes into this ritual the ground of SCP-2317-Prime buckles and SCP-2317-K emerges from SCP-2317-H. The earth tremors caused by SCP-2317-K cause the non-subjects to lose their footing and leave the subjects unguarded. The subjects begin to hurry towards SCP-2317 and open it as quickly as possible.

Result: Universe 95KK-fE2ξ-D is exposed as an exit. A Pandora event is induced.

Notes: Following the collapse of the Usinsk event the ten natives of 95KK-fE2ξ-D present within SCP-8765-B attempt to slow the progress of SCP-8765-D while other inhabitants of SCP-8765-B warn universe 95KK-fE2ξ-D. This effort is unsuccessful, and SCP-8765-D ignores the gunfire of the surrounding operatives as it makes its way towards universe 95KK-fE2ξ-D.

At this point agent Healeu makes direct, physical contact with SCP-8765-D in an effort to halt its advance. This distracts SCP-8765-D, which causes agent Healeu to be reduced to a gaseous form through unknown means. This process takes approximately eight seconds, during which Healeu is aware and conscious and SCP-8765 does not continue its movement. Another eight agents from 95KK-fE2ξ-D also make contact with SCP-8765 successively, halting it for a combined seventy two seconds.

SCP-8765-D then proceeds onwards towards 95KK-fE2ξ-D. It does not enter 95KK-fE2ξ-D however, as twenty seconds before its predicted arrival 95KK-fE2ξ-D undergoes massive reality breakdown and ceases to exist. This is the first time SCP-8765-D has failed to reach its destination, and the first time reality breakdown has occurred without SCP-8765-D entering the target universe.

If you're critting this I need to add in more events, but the last one is the plot important one.

Addendum: External Investigation

Following event E-8765-68 the collective universes of the Pandora Treaty voted 5 to 1 to bring in external expertise in order to better understand SCP-8765. To this end the Foundation of universe 9l81-fE2ξ-D contacted the Office of Multiversal Incidents, who agreed to investigate the anomaly.
