Item #: SCP-4871
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4871 is to be held on an antique table in a furnished chamber at Site 12 and kept away from any other SCPs of a violent nature. Access is available to Clearance 1 personnel. Personnel are not permitted to bring weapons into the chamber.
Description: SCP-4871 is a high-quality wooden chessboard with a wooden drawer on each side. A full set of chess pieces are assembled in the correct position for play. When approached, one of SCP-4871’s drawers open with a note found inside. If the individual who approached has never interacted with SCP-4871, it will use the written note to outstretch a request to play chess. If this request is accepted (either verbally or by making the first move), SCP-4871’s pieces move on their own on its turn. When pieces are captured they explode into dust too fine to be detected. When a pawn is promoted, it explodes into fine dust and the desired piece forms out of nothing. When its opponent attempts to make an illegal move, the piece drifts back to its earlier location. When one player achieves checkmate, every piece explodes and pieces reappear in their starting locations. SCP-4871 is of comparable skill to a Chess Grandmaster, but can be beaten (see Experiment-4871-01). It is fully sapient and, when engaged with conversation, politely communicates by closing its drawer and reopening with a new note. It is unknown how it makes these notes (see Experiment-4871-03). It is amicable and helpful, but is made anxious by the presence of weapons and violent SCPs. It recognizes individuals, even when they disguise themselves.
Experiment-4871-01: Chess Grandmaster K███████ was brought to SCP-4871’s location and deceived into thinking he was playing a high-level AI. Their match was the only known instance of SCP-4871 losing a match.
Experiment-4871-02: Dr. W████ pocketed a pawn and left the facility. When he checked his pocket later, the piece had vanished. An attempt to repeat the experiment prompted SCP-4871 to display a note reading “Please stop doing that.”.
Experiment-4871-03: A small camera was placed in one of SCP-4871’s drawers. When it closed, the camera exploded into a fine dust. SCP-4871 apologized for destroying the camera.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in a padded holding cell. Access is available to Clearance 4 personnel. Personnel must submit themselves to a full body search before entering the padded cell. No weapons, sharp objects, blunt objects, or anything else that could cause harm are to be allowed into the cell. Any personnel showing signs of increased aggression towards themselves, others, or SCP-XXXX are to be tranquilized and removed immediately.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an orange Himalayan salt lamp about 4’’ wide and 6’’ tall. It emits a soft light along with a subtle humming sound. It doesn’t seem to need any power source, internal or external, to emit light.
Those exposed to SCP-XXXX over long periods of time become aggressive towards SCP-XXXX, eventually screaming at SCP-XXXX as if it were a person and attempting to damage it in through any means possible.
If SCP-XXXX is attacked, damage corresponding to the method of attack is dealt to the attacker. All known instances of these attacks left no markings of SCP-XXXX. Use of blunt force, sharp objects, ballistic weapons, and other methods of direct attack give wounds to the attacker resembling wounds that their weapon of choice would inflict. Use of extreme heat causes the attacker to burst into flame. Use of explosives cause [DATA EXPUNGED]. Use of chemical weapons have no effect.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered in a log cabin in ████████. The bodies of █████ ███████, █████ ███████, and ████████ ██████ were found with fatal gunshot wounds. A Winchester Model 70 with three missing rounds was found near the bodies.
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Any devices infected with SCP-virus are to be confiscated by the SCP Foundation and destroyed using microwave radiation. Any individuals showing signs of SCP-virus-1 are to be taken into custody and held under surveillance. Once the subject shows no signs of SCP-virus-1, they are to be administered amnestics and released. Dependent on the length of their detention, a cover story may be generated prior to their release.
If an individual begins to show signs of SCP-virus-2, they are to be terminated immediately. Any bodies are to be incinerated. Under no conditions are staff permitted to make direct contact with an individual, living or dead, who at any point showed signs of SCP-virus-2.
Description: SCP-virus describes a computer virus. The virus’ source is unknown. Every device infected has been a personal computer. There have been instances of computers with no internet connection becoming infected. Interestingly, the virus seems to exclusively infect computers primarily used by females. There have been no instances of devices not located in North America or South America being infected. This ignores VPNs.
When a device is infected with SCP-virus, it begins to produce a red substance with an unknown composition. The substance appears as liquid and has no known freezing or boiling point. When further tests are attempted, the substance dematerializes. In one instance Dr. [black boxes] was touching the substance as it dematerialized. A part of Dr. [black boxes]’s finger was dematerialized. Dr. [black boxes] has reported no further effects.
Individuals who make direct contact with an infected device begin to show signs of SCP-virus-1, a unique sickness characterized by a low fever, the rapid changing of one’s eye colors, and sleepwalking, especially towards areas, people, or objects that show anomalous traits. The effects of SCP-virus-1 have been observed to last between one day and three months. There have been no observed permanent effects of SCP-virus-1.
Individuals infected with SCP-virus-1 who sleepwalk towards and successfully reach close proximity with an anomalous object have been observed to develop SCP-virus-2, a mutation defined by [DATA EXPUNGED]. SCP-virus-2 appears to spread through direct contact. Any instances of SCP-virus-2 should be considered extremely dangerous.
