Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 1 meter long steel case fitted with a standard electronic lock. It may only be taken out of containment for testing purposes or with express permission from the Head Researcher of Site-██. Any personnel handling SCP-XXXX are not to engage in direct skin contact with it, unless as part of testing procedures.
In the event of manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1 outside of a testing environment, any and all demands or pleas made by SCP-XXXX-1 are to be rejected. Security forces are to be called in to escort the afflicted for immediate administration of class D amnestics. Allowing the manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1 is grounds for immediate demotion unless the responsible party was deemed under suitably extraneous circumstances by the Site Director.
Description: SCP-XXXX currently takes the form of a █████ brand 16 inch combat machete. The object has no anomalous physical properties when undisturbed, being identical to other machetes produced by █████. █████ and all other brands that have appeared on SCP-XXXX have been investigated, and no causes for suspicion have been found.
Anomalous properties manifest when the object comes into contact with bare human skin. Immediately upon contact, the object will shape itself to a steel cylinder with the same length of the previous form and a diameter of 5 centimeters. This is temporary, and there are no known means to keep SCP-XXXX in this state. After approximately 10 seconds, SCP-XXXX will form itself into a metallic close combat weapon that coincides with the most prominent culture in the subject's ancestry. The metal itself is identical to carbon steel and has no anomalous properties.
Following the transformation of SCP-XXXX, the subject will cease all brain activity for approximately 30 seconds, though the rest of their bodily activity is unaffected. During this time, removing SCP-XXXX from bare skin contact with the afflicted will cause the rest of their bodily functions to cease, resulting in immediate death.
After this process finishes, the subject's brain will begin functioning identically to brain activity when in a coma. In this state, SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to manifest. SCP-XXXX-1 is an entity that transfers itself from SCP-XXXX into the body of it's wielder, having full muscular control while their host is effectively comatose. Removing SCP-XXXX from the wielder in this state has no effect beyond angering SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 is perpetually extremely agitated, and seems to have memory of all it's past manifestations. When asked who they are, SCP-XXXX-1 claims to have no name, and states they only exist to “Prove superiority in fair combat.” The entity refuses any and all attempts to interview it further by repeating “Who among you will face me?” in an increasingly aggressive way until a “challenger” steps forward. If it's call to fight is refused, it takes an average of about 30 minutes for SCP-XXXX-1 to resort to physical violence. It will attempt to attack any living thing in it's vicinity with SCP-XXXX, screaming “You are a cowardly people” every few seconds. SCP-XXXX-1's language and accent is entirely dependent on the language last heard in the vicinity of SCP-XXXX before SCP-XXXX-1's manifestation.
If the challenge is accepted , all other living things in the vicinity of SCP-XXXX-1 and it's challenger will be unable to intervene, compelled by some force to simply watch the events unfold. Speech is not hindered, and vocal opposition to the combat can be voiced, but currently no means exist for a bystander to prevent the combat from taking place. The challenger may at any point withdraw from the combat, and is not seen to become anomalous in any way. If the challenger flees, SCP-XXXX-1 immediately flies into a rage and attempts to mutilate them while ignoring all other beings in the area.
If they don't, the challenger will then be prompted by SCP-XXXX-1 to “Take up their arms” at which point a weapon identical to SCP-XXXX's current form will slowly rise from the ground beneath the challenger's feet, appearing to pass through the floor from an undetermined location. Once picked up, SCP-XXXX-1 will begin combat, fighting in whatever style is suitable for their weapon. SCP-XXXX-1 is observed to be skilled in all martial arts it has fought with, though the physical condition of it's host body is not improved whatsoever.
The outcome and specific events during the combat vary, with the only common outcomes being what happens upon SCP-XXXX-1's victory or defeat. The entity only claims victory when it's opponent is too wounded to continue fighting, at which point it will exclaim “You were worthy” or “You were not worthy” based upon the perceived challenge from it's opponent. If they are considered unworthy, SCP-XXXX-1 will kill their challenger before repeating it's process of asking for another. If they are considered worthy, or if they defeat SCP-XXXX-1 in combat, it will take SCP-XXXX and stab their host's throat with it before reentering SCP-XXXX. It is theorized a death in this combat is the only way SCP-XXXX-1 is capable of returning to the object. Upon the death of one of the participants, all bystanders are once again free to act.
Class D amnestics can rid the host of SCP-XXXX-1 with a 92% success rate. Despite this, SCP-XXXX-1 still manifests even after being disallowed from reentering SCP-XXXX. It has been observed however, that when combats take place and SCP-XXXX-1 is allowed to reenter SCP-XXXX, the next manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1 shows a slight increase in [REDACTED]. This leads us to believe it is a [REDACTED], which potentially has applications in █████████ and ███████████ should we ever determine how to replicate the effect.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in ██████, Nepal taking the form of a kukri. The Foundation was made aware of it's existence when a rumor about a violent cult wielding shape shifting weapons was confirmed by a short video of a combat between a manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1 overpowering and killing a resident of blank before killing it's host, then SCP-XXXX being picked up by another resident who in turn became another manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1. The town has since been treated with class A amnestics and all video has been confiscated, with the deaths being attributed to a rampage killing.
