Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in an anomaly containment locker at Site-64, accessible to researchers with level 4 clearance at the discretion of Dr. Colter. During testing, instances are to be studied in the Anomalous Electronics Labs. Any newly obtained instances must have a constant energy supply to ensure the battery does not lose power.

Foundation personnel and field agents working near SCP-XXXX origination sites are to maintain the appearance of local gym members and should wear the attire appropriate for a gym member. Any persons discovered utilizing or in possession of an SCP-XXXX instance should be monitored by Epsilon-6 "Village Idiots" and taken under Foundation custody. Once under Foundation care, individuals are to be told that the model of LitFit watch they currently own is faulty, and should be supplied with a standard non anomalous LitFit brand watch.

Description: SCP-XXXX instances are standard size LitFit brand health and fitness watches that are unknowingly purchased and sold by fitness groups near Portland, Oregon, which through currently unknown means, can identify and locate individuals within 150 meters of SCP-XXXX that have negative self images or character traits considered negative by a majority of society.

The anomalous watches are sentient, and are drawn toward individuals with agreeable and cheerful personalities and a selfless nature. The watches generally gravitate toward individuals with a strong work ethic and moral compass, though what is considered strong by the watches is subjective.

When an individual with negative physical or mental health enters SCP-XXXX's 150 meter range, the watch will mark the individual on it's GPS map and alert the user with a brief notification. This notification will explain a major negative aspect of the marked individuals life and recommend that the user befriend the marked individual and assist them in improving the negative aspects of their lives. After the user and marked individual have engage in conversation for more than 5 minutes, there is a 90% likelihood of a friendship starting between the two people. Over the course of the next 8-12 weeks, the marked individual's current personal well being will be documented by the SCP-XXXX instance and reported back to the user. After 14 weeks, the marked individual is 95% likely to have made substantial improvements in their lives whether socially, mentally, physically, spiritually, or professionally. For 3-4 weeks after the marked individuals improvement, SCP-XXXX enters a dormant state and is entirely non-anomalous, capable of the same functions as a standard LitFit watch.

Due to the average SCP-XXXX user's outdoor physical activity, it is possible for users to befriend up to 15 marked individuals each year, with at least 12 of those individuals maintaining their improved lifestyle for more than 10 years.

Discovery: The first SCP-XXXX instance was discovered by Agent Alyssa Olsen on July 22, 2007, while she was off duty, exercising in a Swole Goal gym chain. Agent Olsen initially discovered SCP-XXXX after speaking with another female gym member running on the treadmill. The watch marked Agent Olsen and the woman approached her. The woman asked Agent Olsen about her negative self image and Agent Olsen responded to her, saying that she could have guessed that about anybody. The woman objected to that claim, stating that her watch informed her. The woman believed SCP-XXXX's anomalous ability was a recent software update that located other LitFit owners in the area. After Agent Olsen explained that she did not in fact own any LitFit brand products, the woman grew confused, but persisted in trying to converse with Agent Olsen.

After a brief conversation, Agent Olsen asked the woman where she had purchased her LitFit. The woman said that she has purchased it directly from the gym's store. Agent Olsen purchased an model identical model and updated the software to the most recent patch. After 10 minutes, Agent Olsen was unable to identify and features of the watch that allowed her to identify other users or their mental state. She was also unable to find any other people with a LitFit with similar capabilities. Agent Olsen immediately contacted Site-64 director Edgar Holman, and requested additional agents to assist her in containing SCP-XXXX.

Agent Charles arrived 25 minutes later, wearing the uniform of a LitFit employee. Agent Charles convinced the woman to return her watch in exchange for the latest model, explaining that the features of her watch were actually scripting errors in the programming.

After arriving at Site-64, SCP-XXXX was immediately brought to the Anomalous Electronics Labs for study. Agent Olsen removed her LitFit and explained the differences her and Charles noticed. Once she set aside her watch, the researchers attempted to power on SCP-XXXX but were unsuccessful. SCP-XXXX's screen remained black, and affter 90 minutes, Researcher Haylan hypothesized that the watch would only power on if it detects the heartbeat of it's original user. The next morning, Agent Olsen and Agent Charles arrived at the home of SCP-XXXX's original user. The hypothesis was proven correct after the woman succeeded in powering on SCP-XXXX after properly securing it around her wrist.
