Item #: SCP-4233 (Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.)
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4233 must be kept within site-██ within the effective radius of SCP-4649 on top of a 1 x 1 x 1 m slab of solid plastic. In case of SCP-4649-a failure to contain any instances of SCP-4233-a, site security must be trained with at least 2 types of melee weapons (A polearm of choice and one-handed sword and shield), and an armour melee weapons made with preferably single pieces of material, or as little parts as possible if improper to handle, of the highest quality must be maintained and upgraded if technology advanced. Mobile Task Force zeta 006-3 “Gutenberg” stationed outside site-██ in case of SCP-4233-a breach.
A5-size paper must be filled at all times. 8 modified power outlets for SCP-4233 is installed on site, each with separate power lines. With connectivity checked daily and after each SCP-4233-a outbreak. Socket of SCP-4233 must not be unplugged for more than 15 mins. 7 Power generators of different power sources (Gasoline, Coal, Wind, Water wheel, Solar panel, Solar mirror, Man) capable of generating 600W power each are to be placed at a distance no closer than 1km but no further than 2km away from SCP-4233. Up to 20 D-class can be assigned to power up SCP-4233 generators in case of emergency.
Walls of no lower than two hundred (200) m in height and twenty (20) m in thickness built at two (2) km perimeter from SCP-4233. Due to nature of SCP-4233, no building is to be built to cover it. A simple tent has to be maintained to prevent water from entering the sockets causing power failure. In case of storm with outbreak of Keter class SCP-4233-a, SRBM stationed at nearby site can be utilized to fire solid rounds at SCP-4233-a.
Site administrative office must dedicate two (2) computers sending printing task of file-4233.png to keep SCP-4233 occupied by print jobs at all times other than approved testing jobs via Wifi. All other on site computers are all erased of the M402dne compatible drivers and reinstallation required site-██ administration approval. All procurement of on site printers are to be made excluding the brand ██ as an option.
Computer and Wifi router has to have own battery power and power generator.
A6 printing paper has to be placed in paper tray 1 and 2 and refilled immediately when running out and SCP-4233 automatically switched to using the other tray for printing.
Toner cartridges certified by company ██ must be in stock for replacement after every outbreak.
In case of any system failure, including but not limited to damage of power infrastructure and/or malfunction of any electronic equipment, for more than 20 minutes will be considered a containment breach, all site-██ personnel must prepare for appearance of at least 2 class-5 identity or above while prioritising recovery of power source.
150mm artillery positioned at 1 2 km from SCP-4233 at all times prepared to fire at all instances of SCP-4233-a. Following Addendum 2, as site-██ moved to location of SCP-4649, SCP-4649-a will be taking care of most of the instances of SCP-4233-a, in case of SCP-4649-a failure and artillery is to be fired at all instances of SCP-4233-a moving beyond 1 km perimeter.
Description: SCP-4233 physical properties resembles an ██ brand monochrome laser jet printer of the model M402dne, but is only about 50% in size (200 x 180 x 108 mm) and Fifty (50) times in mass (429 kg). Front panel brand name intact, with the model labelled on SCP-4233 as LaserJet Pro M4[3 illegible characters]ne, which is not produced by the ██ company. The location where the s/n is labelled on a regular M402dne model is illegible with random scratch lines no more than one (1) mircometre apart and deep.
The plugs on two (2) of the power cords of SCP-4233 are smaller versions of the relative standard plugs of the UK standard BS1363 and the Europe standard CEE7/7. The third power cord has what appears to be a smaller version of IEC 60320 C13 connector on both sides. Building new power cords with any plugs (even with the reproduction of the plugs of SCP-4233) do not work on SCP-4233 until the relative original plug is damaged. At which the next cord with the same dimensions and shape plugged into SCP-4233 will begin to work, but no other reproduction will, thus only a maximum of three (3) working cords can be maintained at all times. One (1) replacement cord for each type of the same dimensions are placed nearby in case of damage, while cord tags have to be attached to the working cords so as to not mix up the cords. New reproduction cords are placed next to generator building 1km away to prevent being affected by SCP-4233 anomaly. Cutting the working cord and replacing the plugs with standard one does not work.
SCP-4233 has Wifi enabled and can receive printing tasks via Wifi. All A4 printing jobs will be interpreted as using the A6 paper filled in the trays, while prompting the user to insert paper of other sizes if using a different setting. All paper settings used must be calculated as half in size in format. Testing done in other paper size must be approved by site administration, with paper prepared beforehand to avoid delay in printing task. All printing tasks not depicting animatable object(s) (For example, a picture of a simple rock or text message describing simple rock) will receive an error message of code 79 and ignored by SCP-4233. Depictions of machines are only accepted if they can move around (e.g. depiction of a printer will result in error while depiction of a car will be accepted). All depiction of ships and sea creatures will result in instances of SCP-4233-a treating the ground as liquid (i.e. submarine depictions submerging underground) and depictions of spacecrafts will result in instances of SCP-4233-a flying through the sky apparently without being affected by gravity and air. A detail list of testing can be found below.
Regular printing with SCP-4233 will produce a 3D animated object (designated as SCP-4233-a) and extremely aggressive to other animate objects. Printing file-4233.png will result in a humanoid (here on referred to as SCP-4233-a1) approximately one hundred and eighty (180) cm being animated, which can be quickly neutralized on sight.
Setting up fire at paper outlet failed to burn anything coming out of SCP-4233, not even depictions of items that are usually flammable. When SCP-4233-a is neutralized, it will turn back to a piece of paper and start burning with a very dim (only visible by the naked eye at night without any other light source other than the back light of the LCD screen of SCP-4233) white light. Sensors registered very high amount of infrared radiation indicating a temperature of fifty (50) Mega-Kelvin for approximately one (1) microsecond.
Unauthorised printing task from an unknown source will be performed at random times (ranging from 3 to 7 days, never longer than 7 days, presumably meeting a deadline for serial publication) by SCP-4233. If authorised printing tasks stops, SCP-4233 will be dedicated to printing tasks from said source. All attempts in jamming of and tracing Wifi signal in question failed. All sensors beyond 1km perimeter failed to pick up any signal, while signal picked up within 1km perimeter showed equal strength in all directions, disregarding any terrain effects. A regular M402dne printer is placed at 850m from SCP-4233, modified to print the signal’s task without printing authorised printing tasks.
Said tasks often contain very well drawn and detailed fictional items and entities in 14 to 22 pages. Satellite image confirmed printing is an unknown science fantasy space opera manga style comic series in an unknown language similar to a mixture of Chinese, Japanese and English. Linguists succeeded in translating said language, recovered image with translation can be found in recreational area of site-██. Comic has been shown to editors of various publication houses for identification purposes, while none recognized the comic, all tried to bargain for contracting the artist. Comic plot is very poorly written, just cliches after cliches, but art is extremely good and most importantly, meets publication schedule on time.
If both paper tray runs out, SCP-4233 will draw paper from a non-existent “Tray 3”, in which case paper coming out of SCP-4233 will double in size for each printout (A4, then A2, then A0 and continued) rendering larger and larger SCP-4233-a being produced.
If power or toner runs out, or a toner uncertified by the company ██ is installed, SCP-4233 will switch to “Sleep mode” for 20 mins, in which toner can be replaced and power can be restored. Failure to do so will result in SCP-4233 switching to “Safe mode”, where “Tray 3” will be drawn from and a “Test printing” performed. Previous printouts mostly include Euclid and Keter class SCPs along with other anomaly not yet identified fitted in A0 size paper.
If SCP-4233 is damaged, it will switch to “Safe mode” after 5 minutes of damage. Replacement of outer casing can switch SCP-4233 to “Self checking mode” with a short burst of 2 to 8 A6 printouts of blank paper before turning back to normal printing tasks. No known instances of internal parts being replaced, but ██ certified parts that is produced according to measurements from SCP-4233 are placed in site-██ building in case of need.
Any mechanical or electrical object within a radius of approximately eight hundred (800) metres of SCP-4233 or SCP-4233-a not in direct contact with it will become highly vulnerable to malfunction, with a failure rate of approximately one hundred (100) times of normal. For example, the axis of the wheel will come off, a bolt will come loose, capacitor will short circuit, bullet will be jammed, etc. SCP-4233 is not affected by this and has been printing for over ██ years since acquired by the foundation.
The Foundation first came into contact with SCP-4233 after a report received from agent monitoring technical support logs. ██ technical support received a complaint about receiving an overweight package from the company that broke his back while trying to pick it up from the ground. Complainant did not order any printer recently. Recovery team dispatched to caller’s location, residence in ███ Baker Street, London, disguised as ██ employers and upon identifying the anomaly, removed message from ██ logs. Box of SCP-4233 is similar to M402dne model box, only 50% smaller in size and model number all with the same 3 characters being illegible as on SCP-4233 front panel, regardless of size of characters. The box was opened and resealed before delivery, checking with the ██ company delivery record shows no such item. SCP-4233 was delivered to that location by mistake, the address on the delivery note is ████ Baker Street, a block away from the recovery location. Another delivery note behind the current address showed a non-existent address of ████ ████████, Etretat, UK, but a location with same name does exist in France. A note inside an envelope was found inside the box, with words “Make no more excuses, meet your submission deadlines!” No sender or receiver information on letter. Box, envelope and note found to be without anomalous properties. SCP-4233 did not start printing until about 2 weeks after retrieval, at which point it was stored as a regular anomalous item in site-42 storage due to its unusual size and mass.
Site Security can have scheduled training against SCP-4233-a1 to be familiarize with SCP-4233-a properties.
Addendum: 1. Following Incident-4233-5, any D-class capable of fending off outbreak of SCP-4233-a may warrant promotion to site security with limited access (without allowance to leave site-██), all applications can be sent to Site Administration for review.
2. With the discovery of SCP-4649, it was discovered through testing of several captured SCP-4233-a that even though SCP-4233-a are 3-dimensional, they still retain the property as a 2-dimensional object under the light of SCP-4649 and SCP-4233-a will choose to attack SCP-4649-a generated as their own “anti-shadow”. This greatly eased the containment of SCP-4233-a due to SCP-4649-a indestructible nature (one cannot destroy one’s shadow) within the perimeter of SCP-4649. SCP-4233 is thus relocated next to SCP-4649 with site-██ moved along with it and buildings rebuilt.
