Item #: SCP-5555
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: It is currently considered likely that SCP-5555's ability to propagate has been neutralised due to the efforts of Foundation personnel. Due to the fact that testing this neutralisation would necessitate a potential containment breach the containment of SCP-5555 will continue as before with a reduced operational priority.
Despite this partial neutralisation existing Iterations of SCP-5555 continue to display anomalous properties. Handling protocols have not been changed since the partial neutralisation of SCP-5555, and must be adhered to in totality.
One hundred Iterations1 of SCP-5555 are to be kept by the Foundation at all times. Each iteration must be separated from all other iterations. The exact manner of this seperation is non-critical but it is recommended that Iterations are not kept within the same room as, or within twenty metres of, one another. The method of Iteration storage is also non-critical, so long as each iteration can be checked regularly for signs of damage. The frequency of checking is left to the discretion of the Site managers responsible for storing SCP-5555 Iterations, and should depend on the manner of the Iteration's storage and the medium on which it is stored.
Damaged Iterations are to be replaced as a low priority containment task. An Iteration can be considered damaged if any part of the medium containing SCP-5555 (for example the ink used to print it or the negative space used to carve it into stone) has been removed or supplemented to. The producing of additional Iterations for purposes other than containment of SCP-5555 is currently forbidden.
If an Iteration is damaged then an additional instance is to be created and distributed. If at any time there are fewer than fifty Iterations then the printing of additional Iterations is to be considered a low priority task.
If there are ever fewer than ten Iterations in Foundation custody then investigation must be taken to determine if SCP-5555 is still capable of propagating and therefore if it has breached containment. If SCP-5555 demonstrates an ability to propagate it can be considered to have breached containment. If this is the case additional Iterations are to be produced until one hundred Iterations are in Fountation custody and then distributed, and SCP-5555's containment practices are to be upgraded to medium priority tasks.
Handling of SCP-5555 is to preferably be performed by individuals who have passed through the Observation Sequence2, or individuals given towards an optimistic disposition. Individuals prone to depression or of a military background are not to handle SCP-5555 Iterations unless absolutely necessary.
SCP-5555 Iterations are not to be viewed outside of testing by individuals who have not passed through the Observation Sequence, or who have shown an Outreach response on completing the observation sequence. SCP-5555 may be safely viewed on electronic screens, provided the refresh rate of these screens is below 2300 Hz.
SCP-5555-ERZATZ, a symbol designed to be similar in appearance to SCP-5555 without exhibiting its anomalous properties, is to be disseminated for viewing on request in order to aid identification in the field. SCP-5555-ERZATZ may be viewed at any time and in any way safely.
Addendeum 5555-END
SCP-5555 is currently considered to be a comprehensively understood item following incident 5555-4. Requests for testing on SCP-5555 will now be automatically rejected without extreme reason.
Description:
SCP-5555 is a symbol capable of appearing seemingly at random around the world, with a predisposition for major population centres. There appear to always be a minimum of ten Iterations of SCP-5555 present on the world at any given time, with additional Iterations appearing spontaneously if the number drops below 10. SCP-5555 can be replicated by photograph or relief rubbing, but cannot be replicated by hand due to the precision of the motions required to do so. SCP-5555 can be stored on any medium, including stone, paper, an all metals including telekill alloy.
As of 3/5/2009 efforts by Foundation personnel may have successfully neutralised this propagating ability (with an approximately 90% probability of success). Despite this the SCP-5555 research team recommends that practices continue assuming the propagating ability of SCP-5555 has not been neutralised.
When observed SCP-5555 induces feelings of extreme dread in observers, as well as short-term amnesticisation, paralysis and desire for self-termination. SCP is also capable of removing observers from existence via physical contact, causing complete quantum annihilation in those who voluntarily touch SCP-5555.
On observing SCP-5555 an observer will begin to move through the 4 step observation sequence. Individuals who complete the sequence will not be able to enter the sequence again, excluding those who are prevented from completing an Outreach Response. No non-sentient life can enter the Observation Sequence, and nor can any life which lacks a grasping appendage3, or the ability to perceive SCP-55554. It is unknown if anomalous creatures can function as observers of SCP-5555 SCP-5555 functions as normal when observed by anomalous entities provided they meet the previously listed requirements.
Observation Sequence:
Phase 1, Connection (duration c.30s): Approximately three seconds after first viewing SCP-5555 an observer will be affected by a migraine usually described as "mild". This has been determined to be a neural link being established between SCP-555, the observer, and a third location currently unknown.
Phase 2, Paralysis (duration c.10s): SCP-5555 induces complete bodily paralysis in the observer, affecting all muscle groups. Brain scans performed during this time show no activity in parts of the brain responsible for muscle control.
Phase 3, Despair (duration variable, avg.5mins): After ten seconds Phase 3 will begin. Due to total bodily paralysis the beginning of phase 3 is impossible to determine externally and can only be detected by scanning of brain activity. During phase three the observer's brain activity transitions to show an extreme state of despair, as well as activity concurrent with telepathic communication. This Phase lasts for an average of five minutes before transitioning into Phase 4. Phase 3 is the phase most variable in length, varying from twelve seconds to over two hours in one case. Shorter Phase 3 durations overwhelmingly correspond with Outreach responses, while the longest Phase 3 durations have been recorded with non-human Observers5.
Phase 4, Response (duration c.12s): The subject's paralysis ends over a three-second period and returns control to them. At this point the Observer will randomly enter one of four response states, with the following average distribution:
- Despair response (33%):The observer begins weeping uncontrollably, wailing in a way associated with extreme grief, speaking various phrases related to existentialist dread, or showing some other external sign of severe despair.
- Catatonic Response: (30%) The observer refuses to move or act in any way.
- Outreach Response (13%)The observer is compelled to reach out and touch the SCP-5555 Iteration if possible. If the subject is restrained and unable to do this then they will move on to Phase 5, but are not considered to have completed the Observation Sequence and can enter the sequence again. Subjects capable of making physical contact with SCP-5555 are annihilated via quantum disentanglement.
- Extreme Despair Response (24%)The observer attempts to self terminate. If the subject is restrained and unable to do this then they will move on to Phase 5, but will not be eligible for entering the Observation Sequence again.
Phase 4 does not vary in length, and always lasts for the same duration (approximately twelve seconds) unless the Observer interrupts the Phase with an Outreach or Extreme Despair response.
Phase 5, Amnestiscisation: Any surviving Observers will be amnesticised by SCP-5555 and return to a neutral emotional state, losing all memory of the time between the end of Phase 1 and the moment of amnesticisation.
The response proportions are not fixed across all observers and have been recorded as varying depending on the recorded background of the observer. A sample is presented below.
| Background | Distribution of Responses (Despair/Catatonic/Outreach/Extreme) |
| Military professional | 22/16/55/7 |
| Law Enforcement | 29/19/31/21 |
| Organised Crime (Violent) | 43/21/23/13 |
| Organised Crime (Nonviolent) | 36/27/4/33 |
| Altruism6 | 25/0/50/25 |
| Religious (Nonanomalous) | 19/35/25/24 |
Experimentation with SCP-5555 began on 5/1/1972 and proceeded to 2/4/1984, during which the SCP-5555 research team was supplied with a large number of D-Class as part of the ETDP7 intiative, resulting in extremely granular data gathering. It has been determined that individuals with violent, religious or altruistic backgrounds are significantly more likely to perform an Outreach response, and that individuals with violent backgrounds are less likely to have Extreme Despair responses. The reason for this is currently unknown classified.
Experimentation on SCP-5555 is no longer permitted as of 2/4/1984 as no further hypotheses have been found for testing. [RESCINDED DUE TO INCIDENT INC-5555-4]

Addendum
From the Desk of Dr James Sturbanks
Greetings.
Since the second closing of SCP-5555 testing I have received numerous requests for information from those not lucky enough to be cleared for viewing. It's difficult to see why at first- it's a rune which kills people, or makes them kill themselves. We have hundreds of such objects. 5555 is not special. But then again too many of you have been here too long, we didn't amnesticise some of you when we should have, and you keep asking me the same damn questions about it.
Yes, we did wrap up testing in 1984. Yes, we did resume in 2009. Yes, 5555 is connected to the Bloody Sunday incident. Yes, OPMAD coordinated the censorship of this document.
It's not often the Office for the Prevention of Mutiny And Desertion comes out of the woodwork. They're involved in the censorship of more SCPs than anyone can really say, but they only step in when a neat little [REDACTED] or [DATA EXPUNGED] can prevent our boys switching to another side, or dipping out entirely. In practice this means they censor the existence of three things: hedonistic paradises which a lucky Foundation staffer could use to escape our scary little world, horrifying O5-approved activities which can make anyone but the most staunch staffers break ranks for the Insurgency, or the suffering of an innocent which we're not ending because we don't know how (sometimes those last two are the same thing).
My clearance is level 4 and I was on the 5555 team. I've looked over the documents I signed and what OPMAD made me keep quiet about, and they only leave me a little window to talk. I can't say much, but I can promise you is that 5555 is none of the things I just said, and that your life won't get better if you know what it does.
I'll say no more on this subject, and my spam filter has been set up to send everything from a level
3 or below with "5555" in it straight to my recycling bin. Don't pursue 5555- you won't suffer for it, but it's just not worth it.

OPMAD CENSORSHIP REQUIREMENTS
By the verdict of the Office for the Prevention of Mutiny And Desertion, alterations are to be made to the SCP-5555 documentation with the following goals:
- Present SCP-5555 as a "deadlier, nastier, more lethal" object than research has suggested.
- Remove all mention of the translocation abilities of SCP-5555.
- Remove all mention of the location known as "The Fringe".
- Remove all mention of the group known as "The Silent Legion".
- Restrict all information regarding INC-SCP-5555-4 aka "Bloody Sunday".
- Restrict all information regarding SCP-5555 sub-items 1, 2, 3, and 4.
In addition an investigaton is to be conducted into the performance of GRU-P agent Artyom Elkin.
As ever it remains critical that the containment procedures for SCP-5555 are not compromised.
Loyalty without worry is bravery without fear.
In light of the verdict of OPMAD the following changes have been made to the SCP-5555 documentation. Removed text is detailed in red.
Update UPD-5555-4
On 8/3/2009 an individual since termed equipped with as then unidentified equipment appeared inside Site 19's primary testing chamber and attempted to escape the Site. What followed has become locally known as the "Bloody Sunday" incident amongst Foundation personnel, becoming the fourth most lethal containment breach in Site-19's history by number of Foundation fatalities.
03:21:23 SCP-5555-1 spontaneously appears in the primary testing chamber of Site-19 wearing SCP-5555-2. Four Foundation technicians and twelve Foundation security guards, as well as eight D-Class personnel are in attendance. A test is currently being undertaken on SCP-3551-N.
03:21:27 A technician sounds the all-purpose alarm, most likely technician Berkley. The Primary Testing Chamber enters lockdown mode to prevent escape of SCP-3551-N. Security personnel order D-Class and SCP-3551-N to move away from SCP-5555-1. SCP-5555-1 is instructed not to move.
03:21:40 SCP-5555-1 produces SCP-5555-3 from its back, in violation of instructions. Security personnel begin to fire on SCP-5555-1. SCP-5555-1 retaliates with SCP-5555-3.
03:21:45 All guards have been terminated. SCP-5555-1 has not been injured and SCP-5555-2 has not been breached. SCP-3551-N begins to enter its "predatory phase" and circle SCP-5555-1. SCP-5555-1 attempts to speak with SCP-3551-N.
03:21:58 SCP-3551-N ends its "predatory" phase and enters its "engagement" phase. SCP-3551-N attacks SCP-5555-1. SCP-3551-N is neutralised.
03:21:56 Technician Knowles instructs D-class to attack SCP-5555-1 while it is busy neutralising SCP-3551-N. This instruction is ignored. SCP-5555-1 begins terminating the remaining Foundation personnel.
03:22:03 SCP-5555-1 finishes terminating all Foundation personnel in the chamber, ignoring the presence of the D-class attempting to subdue it. SCP-5555-1 begins melting an exit hole into the chamber bulkhead.
03:22:08 SCP-5555-1 finished producing an exit hole and leaves the chamber.
03:22:45 SCP-5555-1 appears to confer with the D-class personnel present before following them west towards D-wing. Foundation security teams are still putting Site-19 into lockdown during this time.
03:24:09 SCP-5555-1 proceeds through the heavy containment sector towards D-wing, using SCP-5555-3 to breach the containment of SCP objects found on the way. Released objects are told to "go cause havoc". Objects which are aggressive towards SCP-5555-1 or the D-class accompanying it are neutralised.
03:28:06 Second engagement by Foundation personnel. SCP-5555-1 is engaged by three members of Site Security. All members are terminated without damaging SCP-5555-1. SCP-5555-1 has breached containment on four SCP objects.
03:34:31 Second engagement by Foundation personnel. SCP-5555-1 is engaged by eight members of Site Security, who attempt to employ hand grenades in order to breach SCP-5555-2. One hand grenade is detonated while pressed against SCP-5555-3. No effect is recorded. All members are terminated without damaging SCP-5555-1. SCP-5555-1 has breached containment on eight SCP objects.
03:42:31 Third engagement by Foundation personnel. SCP-5555-1 is engaged by seven members of Site Security, who attempt to collapse the relevant tunnel sections onto SCP-5555-1. SCP-5555-1 is successfuly buried in rubble, along with two members of Site Security and one member of D-class personnel. SCP-5555-1 has breached containment on fourteen SCP objects.
03:48:40 SCP-5555-1 uses SCP-5555-3 to escape the rubble and continues with its D-class followers along a different path in order to circumvent the rubble blocking the way to D-wing. SCP-5555-2 has not been breached. SCP-5555-1 has breached containment on fourteen SCP objects. Two additional objects have also breached containment due to "breach cascade".
04:08:21 Fourth engagement by Foundation personnel. SCP-5555-1 enters D-wing and the central D-wing access hall. This location has been chosen as a point of defence by the remainin forty one Site Security members, and has been entrenched with use of explosives and experimental weaponry.
04:08:22 Foundation security staff open fire with hand and heavy weapons. Both surviving D-class are terminated in the crossfire. Visibility of SCP-5555-1 is obscured by the visual detritus produced by bullet impacts.
04:11:32 Foundation security staff cease fire in order to inspect impact of weaponry. SCP-5555-2 has not been breached.
04:11:33 SCP-5555-1 begins to terminate
After terminating SCP-████11 SCP-5555-1 proceeded to Site-19's D-wing12. At this point SCP-5555-1 appeared to lose its way before entering B-wing and engaging in combat with the guards and contained entities therein, resulting in the neutralising of ██ SCP objects and the deaths of ██ guards.
Conventional firearms and defences proved incapable of slowing SCP-5555-1, and SCP-4342 was instead released in a CECB in order to terminate SCP-5555-1.
Following INC-5555-4 SCP-5555-1 was taken for dissection and determined to be D-64758, a D-Class previously assigned to the study of SCP-5555 in 1977. This identification was performed with purely visual methods, via identification of the face and distinguishing tattoos of D-64578, as the genetic data of D-64758 was found to not be consistent with that of human biology. Identifying scars of D-64758 were also not present on SCP-5555-1.
Although SCP-5555-1 was visually identified as human from an external view, dissection revealed the following changes to its internal organs.
| Organ | Change |
| Heart | 80% increase in size compared to expected size for a male of SCP-5555-1's height and weight |
| Kidneys | Missing entirely |
| Liver | 50% increase in size, internal membranes would indicate that it had taken on the function of the kidneys |
| Medulla Oblongata | changed to the point of not being recognisable. Included smaller secondary mass of brain tissue of unknown purpose. |
| Stomach | removed entirely |
| Skeleton (excluding ribs and skull) | replaced with composite bone/gelatin lattice which increased flexural elasticity by 385% without compromising strength |
| Rib Cage | Fused into a single "rib plate". Rib plate was made of a semi-natural composite constructed seemingly artificially and then mounted to the torso. Additional ribs made of the same flexible material as the rest of the skeleton connected the sides of the rib plate to the spinal cord. |
| Skull | replaced with a non-biological polymer which resisted all attempts to damage it following removal, necessitating the use of SCP-063 to break through the external layer. |
| Brain | Brain was found to contain additional lobes of unknown function, as well as a large amount of electronic implants which appeared to have replaced 14% of the total brain volume. |
| Bowels, Bladder and Anus | Completely removed |
| Genitalia | All ability to perform excretory functions removed. |
| Unknown Flesh Organ (Abdominal) | An additional organ not normally found on humans, occupying the area previously taken up by the bladder and bowels. |
| Unknown Crystalline Organ (Mandible) | An additional organ not normally found on humans, occupying the inner mandible area. Organ flesh interlaced with translucent orange crystal. |
| Unknown Crystalline Organ (Torso) | An additional organ not normally found on humans, located in the upper torso below the heart. Exploded on application of SCP-4342 and became lost. |
The equipment carried by SCP-5555-1 were categorised seperately as SCP-5555-2 and SCP-5555-3 and stored seperately.
SCP-5555 was at this point reopened for testing.
UPD-5555-6
Following incident INC-5555-4 it was determined that no fewer than eighty D-Class personnel had reacted with an Outreach response during testing13 . In order to prevent another incident like INC-5555-4 the original SCP-5555 team was reconvened and ordered to construct a more scrutinous test in light of the following information:
- SCP-5555 does not terminate all Observers who have an Outreach response.
- The conditions SCP-5555 subjects Outreach Observers to are survivable for extended periods of time.
- Survivors of SCP-5555 must not become hostile to the Foundation as they are in possession of extremely powerful equipment.
- The return of further SCP-5555 test subjects is considered to be extremely dangerous and the chance of this must be determined.
The assembled scientists proposed expedition EXP-5555-1, an expedition into SCP-5555 to be undertaken by Foundation staff. EXP-5555-1 was announced by MTF central command as a voluntary mission into completely unknown situations with extreme chance of death, but only a small chance of a fate considered worse than death. A large benefits package was also announced, including a substantial Widows and Orphans fund to be provided on the probable case of an expedition member failing to return.
EXP-5555-1 attracted twelve volunteers from various Foundation positions, many of whom were either in extreme financial distress or who had been given lethal diagnoses of various kinds. All volunteers were provided with the standard Foundation field operations equipment, supplies for one year of operation and one personal camera before assembling in experimentation chamber G for exposure to SCP-5555 on 12/8/2009. Ten volunteers had Outreach responses and were taken from view by SCP-5555.

Experimentation chamber G was then checked on an hourly basis for the return of one or more members of the expedition. After five years without any emergences this was downgraded to a daily check.
UPD-5555-7
On 9/3/2019 at 23:44 local time Pvt. Dylan Matthews, formerly of MTF Psi-7, returned to Experimentation chamber G, appearing by spontaneous manifestation at his point of departure in 2009. Pvt. Matthews was unarmed, wearing a version of SCP-5555-3, and carrying the memory cards of the ten cameras which had been sent with EXP-5555-1. Pvt. Matthews was given the provisional designation SCP-5555-4 and taken to a quarantine cell to prevent any possibility of contamination.
Three of the ten memory cards were found to be corrupted or too badly damaged to be analysed. Four were found to be empty. The remaining three were analysed by isolated computer systems to screen for infohazardous materials. Of the footage

Notes: SCP-5555-4 has been in Foundation custody for three hours at this point while the images provided were reviewed. During this time SCP-5555-4 has refused to respond to its new designation, and has been slow to respond to its previous name.
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. Sturbanks: Alright then, let's get this ball rolling. We'll start with your name. Identify yourself, if you would.
SCP-022-1-2: Dylan. Dylan… Matthews.
Dr. Sturbanks: And your middle name? Rank? Foundation identification number?
SCP-5555-4: It's been a while. It was… Charlie. I was a private. My number was… 4424… 98916?
Dr. Sturbanks: … [writing notes] eight nine. Understood. Would you prefer Dylan or Private Matthews?
SCP-5555-4: I'd prefer Seglen.
Dr. Sturbanks: Seglen?
SCP-5555-4: My name is Seglen, yes. I've been called Seglen since I left.
Dr. Sturbanks: Since you left… Understood. Tell me, what's on the far side?
SCP-5555-4: [SCP-5555-4 does not respond.]
Dr. Sturbanks: Seglen we can return to this later if you'd-
SCP-5555-4: The war.
Dr. Sturbanks: The war?
SCP-5555-4: Yes, the war! The war at ___. Are you so blind you can't see it?
Dr. Sturbanks: I can see only what you've shown me. They are surprising images. [Dr. Sturbanks presents IMG-5555-6] This appears to depict a Sarkic entity of some kind, would that be right?
SCP-5555-4: It's a legionary.
Dr. Sturbanks: … Of which Legion?
SCP-5555-4: The Silent Legion, of course.
Dr. Sturbanks: Understood, understood. [Dr. Sturbanks presents IMG-5555-9] Now this image appears to show a member of the cult of Mekhane. Now I'd assume this is an enemy of the 'legionary' from before?
SCP-5555-4: What are you, stupid? No. He's a legionary.
Dr. Sturbanks: Of this Silent Legion? Not a cultist? A mekhanist?
SCP-5555-4: There are no gods in ___.
Dr. Sturbanks: So he's allied with the Sarkic entity?
SCP-5555-4: Of course he is! [At this point SCP-5555-4 is becoming visibly agitated] We're all legionaries over there! You think your baggage matters? You think anything you've seen or done here matters? You're a blinkered fool living in your safe little world! [SCP-5555-4 slams his fist on the table, causing significant damage].
Dr. Sturbanks: Pri- Seglen, while I'm sure you have seen some traumatising things in this '_', we are all on the same side here. You were given a choice to enter SCP-5555, and you took the extremely commendable decision of doing so. We're all working towards the same thing here, we're all Foundaton-
SCP-5555-4: You think there's a choice? You think there's any choice to any of this? There can't ever be a choice once you've seen what the rune wants to show you. Everything here is pointless, it's all piss in the wind, it's all people stubbing their toes in Moscow! [SCP-5555-4 stands up] I've had enough of this. Send me back to the cell until you have somebody with a brain I can talk to [SCP-5555-4 heads to the exit of the interview room and begins to hammer on the door].
Dr. Sturbanks: I'm not sure I follow. Mister Seglen it's apparent that you've become infected in some way. You may return to your cell if you wish, but these interviews will only continue.
SCP-5555-4: [The door opens and SCP-5555-4 is escorted away. He then reenters briefly to shout at Dr. Sturbanks] And another thing. I'm not Foundation! I'm a member of the Silent Legion!
Dr. Sturbanks: … I recommend an additional scan for memetic influences on SCP-5555-4.
SCP-5555-4 was subjected to repeated scans for memetic influence. No influences were found.

Dr. Sturbanks: Good evening, Seglen. I'm told you're now willing to speak to me?
SCP-022-1-2: *Nods.* I'm… I'm sorry, doctor. You don't have to call me that. I know how it works here. I'm 5555-4.
Dr. Sturbanks: If you're sure. Now, 5555-4, I have a list of questions here. I'm going to ask you them until I'm done, but if I make you uncomfortable you can just say so and we'll stop. You're still one of us, one of our boys in blue. We're all very grateful for what you-
SCP-022-1-2: I know what you're doing.
Dr. Sturbanks: I'm doing something?
SCP-022-1-2: Doctor I was research before. I know I'm an SCP now, and I know you don't really give a shit if an SCP is comfortable. I said I wasn't Foundation anymore, and that scared you. You had to use a mining laser to break my skin last month, and you're worried I'm going to start acting like that D boy who burned his way out of 19. I'm not. I'm… I'm loyal. To the Foundation, I mean.
Dr. Sturbanks: So you're one of us?
SCP-022-1-2: No, I'm… *5555-4's speech descends to a mutter.*
Dr. Sturbanks: 5555-4? Dylan? Seglen?
SCP-022-1-2: I've… *5555-4 takes a deep breath* I'm defecting. No, that's not the word, I'm leaving. I can't care about this any more. It's all too quiet. I've been pushing myself since I've been gone, they've always been around the corner, and now I see them in every shadow. They're *everywhere*, and I keep thinking they'll jump at me, but they won't. They can't. They're nothing here, not until they push themselves and then it's not worth their effort. The strings spin off in every direction and they can't keep up.
Dr. Sturbanks: 5555-4, you've lost me.
SCP-022-1-2: 5555-4 takes another deep breath. The symbol is… you remember those posters? From the war? A nazi boot stomping on a church or, or a jewish guy stabbing a nazi in the back?
Dr. Sturbanks: I'm not quite that old, but I know what you're talking about. Propaganda, recruitment.
SCP-022-1-2: 5555 is that. When you watch it it shows you the Fringe. It's a… a battle, a battle that consumes an entire universe. I can't describe what we're fighting because there aren't… there aren't words, but I… I, uh…
*There is a long pause. SCP-5555-4 starts crying, softly.*
Dr. Sturbanks: Seglen, you were right about us not being particularly worried about how SCPs feel, but there's no point pushing on with an interview if you're-
SCP-022-1-2: I fought! *5555-4 is having difficulty speaking as it is still sobbing*. I fought and I died! I've died thousands of times, in… in millions of ways! They give you a cannon which can cut through concrete like air and it's *worthless*.
SILENT LEGION EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Greetings inhabitants of 8d57-fE2ξ-D.
You have accidentally imprisoned a member of the Silent Legion! We understand that mistakes like this happen- maybe they caused some collateral damage on your world, maybe you're just in the practice of apprehending things you don't understand. We have taken the liberty of extracting this legionary from your custody. Appropriate documentation has been logged with the Office of Multiversal Incidents regarding this action
According to our records you identify yourself as THE SCP FOUNDATION. We are strongly/moderately pleased/displeased with your actions, and would describe our current relations across all iterations of THE SCP FOUNDATION as extremely/strongly/weakly positive/negative. Further punitive action will/will not be taken at this time, and we are looking forward to working with you in the/working to actively shorten your future.
[[=]]FROM THE DESK OF LEGIATUS LEGIONIS ARTYOM ELKIN[[/=]]
If you are reading this then you're an iteration of the SCP Foundation who for whatever reason has made contact with the Legion. I'll keep this short, but the preamble I feel you deserve is this; I was Foundation once. I know what it's like. I know it's tempting to fuck with whatever you find. There are always those scientists who don't know when to step back. I'm hoping you're not with them.
As I'm sure you know the symbol you have (it tends to end up in series five, normally around the 4700 mark) is a recruitment tool. You also likely know it takes people to "the Fringe", a universe on the edge of everything.
That's not exactly true. It's not wrong, but it's not true either.
Everything the Legion does has to do with infinity. An infinite multiverse or branching and spreading realities, forever growing throughout the cosmos. These combined universes, as well as their pocket dimensions and over-realms and all other sorts of realities, make up everything. They are everything, and beyond them is nothing.
Beyond that nothing is the enemy. It is impossible to describe them because the words to do so cannot exist, and it takes centuries of training to attempt to fathom what they truly are. The simple version is that they are the third point in a system of opposites. There is everything, there is nothing, and then there is the enemy, which is to nothing as nothing is to everything. There is love and there is hate and there is the enemy who is as to hate as hate is to love. There is creation and there is destruction and there is the enemy.
They are not vast, they are beyond nothing, and from that beyond they come to existence, impossible and hateful. They hound the edges of existence, turning countless universes into impossible war zones.
