Professor Camphor

The Miracle Rabbit

Item #: SCP-5859 (A-C)

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5859 can freely roam the facility should it desire to, but otherwise must stay in its enclosure during emergency lockdowns for its safety. Enclosure must be made highly accurate to the temperate woodland climate which it initially inhabited. Subject is allowed off facility grounds only while escorted by special authorized personnel given clearance to handle the subject in proper.

All personnel are allowed within SCP-5859’s holding enclosure, but only if they are not assigned to other tasks at the time, or if they are on break. Subject is to be played with when bored and spoken to in calmly and in a non-threatening manner.

Description: SCP-5859 is a rabbit-like creature. Bearing a set of antlers with a hard texture which looks and feels akin to wood, with a similar texture on its belly which acts as a protective cover to the subject’s vitals. It has an enlarged tail which connects to a mane below the creature’s neck. Its fur is light greenish in hue with the tail being a darker green with a texture feeling like that of freshly grown grass. All of which is soft to the touch. The subject also notably has vibrant, piercing purple eyes, with patterns and markings along its body of the same color. These subjects can be both male or female and require one another to reproduce. The females give birth to speckled eggs rather than live young as opposed to most mammals.

The subjects diet aligns with that of the typical rabbit. Leafy greens and most vegetables, though in many instances has also seen actively looking out fruits and seems to delight in eating man-made sweets.

SCP-5859’s temperament is best described as gentle and affectionate. Appearing to be most comfortable either being in direct contact or within eyesight of humans. When left to itself the creature actively seeks out people as well as other subjects that exhibit signs of physical or mental fatigue and stress. Proceeding to soothe and even heal those they focus in on.

The extent of the injury depends on the length of time it requires for the healing process to take full effect. Anywhere between a few minutes for minor bruises and injuries, to up to a full 24 hours for near fatal wounds. This mending also seems to treat and relieve feelings and effects of depression with a 95% rate of success across ███ separate tests. The healing does not seem to have any effect on subjects already or recently deceased, however. SCP-5859 seems to show outward signs of sadness and mourning when in the presence of those recently deceased.

SCP-5859 has displayed ability to be able to create its own form of organic plant matter which it is able to manipulate. The current extent to the limitations of these powers are not currently known. The recorded forms it has been documented doing are creating vines it sprouts from its tail which the subject is able to move and manipulate in a similar manner to a tentacle, and being able to shoot projectiles in the form of sharp leaves it uses when ordered to or is in a state of fear. These leaves while potentially dangerous to humans after a single Class-D test the subject was decided on still being classified as safe, as the creature shows extreme reluctance towards hostility against humans.

After extensive testing SCP-5859 seems to comprehend human speech and will respond to commands, but only from those who the subject has spent a certain amount of quality time with. SCP-5859 also undergoes two drastic states of metamorphosis as they age. Going through this process within a matter of fifteen to twenty seconds. Dubbed as SCP-5859 A through C, respectively. What causes the metamorphosis is still not currently known, although a common theory among those who have handled SCP-5859 is that it may have something to do with the amount of time spent around people.

SCP-5859-A; ‘Shrubunny’

Dubbed affectionately by the personnel who first worked with the subject as “Shrub Bunny”, or “Shrubunny”. The subject is initially small, standing 1’2” feet (0.3556 meters) in height while on its hind legs. Weighing in roughly 14 pounds (6.35 kilograms), with the light green fur covering most its body growing 3/4ths of an inch in length, and the tail and mane’s grassy-like features being about double its normal fur.

The horns on its head resemble recently planted shrubs in the subject’s present state. Occasional growths in the form of vivid green leaves sprout along these small antlers. These growths can be removed by hand and doing so does not seem to bring the subject any discomfort.

SCP-5859-B; ‘Jackaleap’

Undergoing its first stage of metamorphosis, SCP-5859-B grows to be double the size of SCP-5859-A. To 2’4” feet (0.7112 meters) and 24 pounds (12.7 kilograms).
The horns on its head now have grown as well, now resembling more matured shrub branches covered in a leafy foliage. The leaves give off a lavender smelling fragrance that evokes calmness to those willingly in the subject’s presence. Leaves can be removed but deteriorate within two to four hours afterward. The pronounced features of the horns more closely resemble those of creatures depicted in various world mythos as a jackalope.

SCP-5859-B also seems to gain increased physical strength and endurance. Now able to move at speeds of ██ miles per hour (██.█ kph) and leap both forward and upward great distances. These factors combined with the more defined antlers lead to 5859-B being referred to as “Jackaleap” by personnel.

SCP-5859-C; ‘Zengrove’

Undergoing a second metamorphosis SCP-5859-C becomes substantially larger than its prior two stages. While standing bipedal the creature is nearly six feet in height and weighs in at about as much as an average human male of the same height.

The horns on its head have continued to grow into a loop which joins at the top. The near-perfect round wood-like antler ring measuring two feet across. Across the forward and back facing sides the antlers are adorned with a series of unknown markings seemingly carved into the substance, however no signs in its prior two states indicated such.

By far the most drastic change that occurs within the subject in this final state of metamorphosis is a drastic increase in physical strength. Control over the subject’s ability to manipulate the plant matter which it can spawn have also increased. Vines which the prior two forms to SCP-5859 are now substantially more durable, and individually seem to be capable of bending reinforced steel and even breaking through solid stone walls with enough effort.

In addition to it is increase in physical power the mental capacities of SCP-5859-C also seem to have been increased. The subject utilizes what is being dubbed as a form of psychokinesis to allow itself to lift and move objects around with its mind so long as the objects remain within the creature’s line of sight.

The subject has only displayed these traits during controlled tests and does not seem to show a want or desire to use these traits for means of its own. SCP-5859-C has brought to light the potential destructive capabilities the creature is capable of and has been considered being moved to the Euclid classification but was still deemed safe due to retaining its gentle demeanor and reluctance towards harming humans.

Addendum: SCP-5859-A-1: Introduced in its initial form to SCP-999 while both SCPs could freely roam the facility. 5859-A took to SCP-999 very quickly. They then proceeded to play with each other in a faculty rec room. The interaction lasted 43 minutes before onlooking staff were asked to get back to work. Both SCP’s were brought back to their respectful containment rooms. Both of which fell asleep shortly thereafter in exhaustion from their play time.

Given the similarities between SCP-5859 and SCP-999 in terms of their behaviors, personalities, and abilities, both subjects are given time with one another on a regular basis.

Addendum: SCP-5859-A-2: Introduced by accident during a containment breach of SCP-076 “Able”. Upon emerging, 5859-A made straight for 076’s containment.

SCP-076 upon locking eyes with the subject seemed to come under a state of sedation within a few seconds. 076’s demeanor turned docile as they picked up the subject after it’s continued, unfearful approach.

Attempt to separate 076 from 5859-A resulted in 076 returning to a relentless state. Dropping the subject and proceeding to kill three staff before being brought down by suppressive fire. 5859-A still in the room expressed outward sorrow before moving closer to 076’s stone cube component. Looking at it intently for a few seconds before being escorted willingly back to its containment habitat.

Conclusion from this series of events has led to cement what knowledge is known about SCP-5859’s ability to have a sense of sentience, as well as the capability of feeling, reading, and even soothing the emotions of those it interacts with.

Addendum: SCP-5859-A-3: [DATA EXPUNGED]

Addendum: SCP-5859-B-1: Subject is utilized by personnel to soothe agents of task force [REDACTED] after they were impacted and traumatized by SCP-4423.

The soldiers of the task force spent the following night all near SCP-5859-B in a medical ward at site [REDACTED], each in a separate bed as they recovered. All three agents slept soundly for 10 hours before awaking. Each of them seemingly back to normal with no PTSD or nightmares to speak of within the following week.

Instance of practical use of SCP-5859 has proved to be an asset to the SCP Foundation and its personnel as both an efficient mender of physical and mental wounds through means more effective than modern medicine. Samples combined from the leaves of SCP-5859’s and SCP-999’s gelatinous substances together with intent to create medicines to much success.

Addendum: SCP-5859-C-1: Introduced by accident during a containment breach of SCP-682 “Hard-To-Destroy-Reptile”. As the alarm was sounded, the subject immediately made for 682’s containment area while still in form SCP-5859-B.

The subject’s usual means of diffusing conflict had no visible effects on SCP-682. Attempting to subdue the protect agent ███████ was killed in the process. Agent ██████ had spent a fair deal of time with the subject prior to this. The subject immediately thereafter underwent its metamorphosis into SCP-5859-C while still in the chamber with SCP-682 which seemed to watch the transformation.

SCP-682 was then lifted from the ground suspended in midair outlined in a glowing violet light while flailing about attempting to break free of its restraints. It was noted during this instance small icons which appeared on the subject’s antlers after transforming were glowing the same purple, believed to be a display of how SCP-5859-C utilizes psychokinesis.
After throwing SCP-682 hard to the ground the reptile lunged forward in a rage towards the subject. The subject then proceeded to unleash 6 large vines out from the tail on its back where it then proceeded to assault SCP-682 from all sides by slamming them into various parts of its body in repetition with four of them. Utilizing the other two to bind around to force and hold SCP-682’s jaw firmly closed.

At this point reinforcements arrived who with the continued aid of SCP-5859-C managed to incapacitate SCP-682 before getting the creature properly contained. The subject afterward showed signs of fatigue and was returned to its containment habitat to rest.

In days which followed, Professor ███████ whom had been the chief of research behind SCP-5859 since being brought to the foundation expressed in light of all that had been learned of the subject, that if there were a potential to find and breed more of SCP-5859 their many utilities could prove invaluable to the SCP Foundation’s goals.

Addendum: SCP-5859-C-2: On [REDACTED] in February of [REDACTED] staff went to check on the subject which had previously been in its habitat overnight found two lone eggs the size of footballs in the middle of the floor. Security surveillance footage shows no means of how the eggs appeared. With the current subject having been male and bearing close resemblance to a mammal scientists were unable to provide a conclusive answer.

Both eggs were placed in high priority care and protection during the incubation process, which took [REDACTED] days. Upon hatching both eggs contained an SCP-5859-A, one male and the other female.

Plans to breed SCP-5859 proposed previously by Professor ███████ are now underway. Currently [REDACTED] total are in captivity. [REDACTED] of which are being used and trained by various SCP staff and agents.

Addendum: SCP-5859-009: Subject was one of the eggs hatched and brought in to MTF – Alpha-9 “Last Hope”. Trained to be brought along for and assist in operations and provide morale to other humanoid SCP’s the task force utilizes.

Task Force Alpha-9 sent a 3-Man team along with their SCP-5859-A to [INFORMATION WITHHELD] in █████ ████ as part of the subject’s field exercises with the team as to help with a preservation security of SCP-4043-C territory. Upon arrival, the subject seemed to express great delight in the surrounding nature untouched by human influence.

Running ahead of its team off the assigned direction despite calls for the subject to return, the creature continued to lead the team through wilderness until coming to a small open field nestled between a cliff with a waterfall above forming a clear pool and stream below.

SCP-5859 had stopped by this point ceased running standing in the middle of the open field as it looked up to the sky as if seeing something. Agent [REDACTED] makes mention aloud to his team the location was invoking a sense of serenity and peace in him in a manner like how direct contact with SCP-5859 works. The team agrees as their camera feed temporarily cuts out. When the feed returns the team express in bewilderment that SCP-5859 had undergone metamorphosis that skipped over its middle evolution ‘5859-B’ and instead had become ‘5859-C’. The mission was called off as the subject returned with to site [REDACTED].

Exact details are not yet identified, but it is theorized that SCP-5859 in all its forms has some manner of connection to SCP-4043. Given the latent emotional empath and psychic abilities the subject possesses, it may be possible that it has some means of being able to hear or understand what SCP-4043-C desires.

Addendum: 5859-017: December [REDACTED]. Subject was one of the eggs hatched and brought in to MTF Lambda-12 “Pest Control”. Trained specifically for combat against anomalies.

Task Force Lambada-12 deployed a team of three along with an SCP-5859-C to a patrol of Northern Ireland in the UK to do a routine check for Euclid-class SCP-4310 with intentions for extermination.

Three separate specimen of SCP-4310 were rooted out and exterminated with no injury or casualty to the three operatives. SCP-4310’s primary mechanism to draw in prey; its ability to create pheromones that draw in creatures worked to helped to make quick work of finding the targets in thanks to SCP-5859-C’s sense of smell, and it’s psychic ability to lift and remove the threats from the ground to levitate them. In which the team capitalized on this to successfully eliminate the targets with firearms.
