The Night Mare is a large and aggressive entity that is yet to be completely understood or contained by the foundation. It is therefore highly advised that operatives who encounter the entity without proper supervision or equipment, leave its immediate area and contact their superiors so proper precautions can be made.
Observations of The Night Mare describe the entity as resembling an abnormally large Shire horse, estimated to be around 2.5 meters high (8.2 ft) and an estimated weight of nearly 2,000 kg (over 4,000 lbs), both of which exceed the height and weight of the largest horse ever recorded. The Night Mare is described by first hand accounts to be covered in short black hair, having a long tale and mane, solid red eyes that emit rays of light, and appears to radiate a type of dark colored mist. The Night Mare has been observed running at speeds upwards of 1,700 kph (over 1,000 mph), putting it faster than most recorded animals and land vehicles. One incident however accounted that The Night Mare had the ability to keep pace with a Dassault Mirage 2000 fighter jet which are known to reach speeds of 2,338 kph (1,453 mph).
As of 3/14/20XX, there have been a total of 457 confirmed sightings of The Night Mare, mostly originating from Western Europe and North America (excluding Central America and Mexico). All claimed sightings have occurred at night, primarily in isolated areas with limited witnesses.The oldest known reference to The Night Mare has been dated to the 9th Century CE, in which a Catholic monk named Alfrid Berger accounted a possible sighting of the entity.

Proceeding accounts of The Night Mare, describe the entity of having a taste for human flesh. An unconfirmed 200+ deaths have been attributed to The Night Mare, most involving the victims being partially eaten or crushed. However, approximately 18 cases have claimed The Night Mare has kidnapped several victims before suddenly disappearing.
Containment of The Night Mare has been debated. Although not yet confirmed, it is believed that The Night Mare has the ability to open gateways to another dimension at will. Professor Redacted has stated that The Night Mare can be followed using a special tracker detectable across realities, but it is unfortunately still being tested. Until the full properties of The Night Mare can be understood, containment is unlikely. Neutralization has also been proposed, but field reports have stated that most conventional weapons have no effect on The Night Mare. Staff Sgt. Marcus Couture who lead a squad of 11 operatives, reported that The Night Mare managed to deflect 2,000 rounds from a 50. caliber heavy machine gun, Sgt. Couture later claimed that the only weapon that appeared to affect the entity was an FIM-92 Stinger missile launcher, which only seemed to temporarily stun The Night Mare.
