Hypothesis:
If we could input a medication into SCP 049’s life that would calm him then SCP 049 will no longer feel the general sense of “pestilence” among other occupants.
Background Information:
SCP 049 is an euclid classified SCP. SCP 049 Describes a certain population of people as pestilent. SCP 049 describes them even though they are not. This could be an origin of chronic psychosis, schizophrenia, ect. We will first need to figure out what mental illness SCP 049 has by studying him. This will then be followed by thorough psychological testing. After this I want us to use a cocktail of medications to see if there are any ways to alter this state of mental illness. Once you have found the proper working medication we may have found a way to classify SCP 049 as “Safe”. I would like future, and current psychologists to be involved in this experiment as it is their specialty.
Experiment Resources:
Medications used for a variety of mental illnesses are as follows and can all be used: Sertraline, Fluoxetine, Escitalopram, Citalopram, Paroxetine, Venlafaxine, Milnacipran, Duloxetine, Maprotiline, Mirtazapine, Mefloquine.
During The Experiment:
Be sure to use all medications listed above. If none work in placing SCP 049 back into a natural habitat we may need to use more medications and that finding should be listed below.
RESULTS EXPERIMENT A: Performed by Biology Joe
Hypothesis: If we use the medication Mefloquine on SCP 049 then he will become more fearful and voluntarily go back into his cell. This is part of PROJECT SERENE.
Procedure: 2 Security was used for the containment and security of the procedure. They ensured 2 guns were pointed on SCP 049 during the entire experiment. They assisted me as I instituted the medication to SCP 049. A 500 mL syringe of Mefloquine was injected into SCP 049. In total only about 250 mL or 250 mg of Mefloquine was outputted. The medicine was successfully injected into the skin overlying the patella of SCP 049 and no complications arose. No leakages occur. SCP 049 was cooperative during the experiment. No one was harmed during the experiment.
Findings: SCP 049 became non verbal after injection of the Mefloquine. From my evaluation SCP 049 became isolated in the corner of his cell. He made no noise after the medication was injected. I offered SCP 049 the opportunity to exit his cell and he stayed in the back corner of his cell. (This was done with safety and security as 2 Guns remained pointed at SCP 049.) My findings are indicative that Mefloquine made SCP 049 want to remain in his cell and not exit. He wanted to stay in a comfortable zone which in this case was his cell. To me this is enough evidence to say he was scared.
Recapitulation: As being a part of Project Serene this is to be set as an example of what is to be performed and accepted. This was a different example of inducing emotion though. In the test we struck fear upon SCP 049 rather than calmness. These different effects have been reported to make SCP 049 want to return to his cell. Any questions regarding Project Serene can be sent to me. As seen in the findings it is regarded that this medication can be used to help keep SCP 049 in his Containment Chamber. This test shows no evidence that SCP 049 would like to go back to his cell voluntarily if he had already escaped.
// INCONCLUSIVE RESULT//
RESULTS EXPERIMENT B:
Hypothesis: If we use the medication Sertraline on SCP 049 then he will become more happier than usual with the mood enhancement drug, could also possibly make him calmer than his usual state. This is part of PROJECT SERENE.
Procedure: 2 Security was used for the containment and security of the procedure. They ensured 2 guns were pointed on SCP 049 during the entire experiment. They assisted me as I instituted the medication to SCP 049. a 500mL syringe was used to inject the medicine Sertraline. The medicine was successfully injected into the skin overlying the patella of SCP 049 and no complications arose. No one was harmed during the experiment.
Findings: 2 minutes after the Sertraline was injected into SCP-049 he became non verbal and motionless. 049 stood in the same place completely motionless when asked questions on how he was feeling. This showed me enough evidence to say that 049 was either extremely petrified and scared or the medicine calmed him to a point where he didn't want to move.
Recapitulation: This test could be seen as a failure with no response from 049 but we would need further testing in PROJECT SERENE. From what we did find out this medicine can put 049 in a state where he doesn't move at all.

Results Experiment C: If we use the medication Fluoxetine on SCP 049 then he will become more fearful and voluntarily go back into his cell. This is part of PROJECT SERENE.
Procedure: 3 Security was used for the containment and security of the procedure. They ensured 2 guns were pointed on SCP 049 during the entire experiment. They assisted me as I instituted the medication to SCP 049. a 500mL syringe was used to inject the medicine Fluoxetine. The medicine was successfully injected into the skin overlying the humeral head of SCP 049 and no complications arose. No one was harmed during the experiment.
Findings: 2 minutes after the Fluoxetine was injected to the skin overlying SCP-049’s humeral head he stated to be more relaxed and tired. SCP 049 stated that he was just as happy as he was prior to the experiment being started. This showed me inconclusive information once again because of the fact that an indirect correlation was made with calmness, and happiness.
Recapitulation: This test could be seen as a failure because of the fact that we didn’t gather enough information to develop a good enough conclusion to make us confident that we have found a new way to recontain SCP 049.

Results Experiment D: Using the drug Escitalopram we hope that 049 will enter a calm state and or a happier state caring less about healing in this drugged state. This test is part of PROJECT SERENE.
Procedure: Two FE members were used for the containment and the security for the test. The FE members made sure to keep their guns on SCP-049 During the experiment. The two FE assisted me as I administered the drug Escitalopram into SCP-049. The medicine was successfully injected into 049 with a 500mL syringe. No complications arose, no one was hurt, no one died during the experiment.
Findings: Two minutes after the drug was administered I interviewed 049 to see how he was feeling. 049 reported feeling more calm than usual. When 049 was given full control to do what he wanted 049 didn't attack me or the guards he just walked around. When questioned about the plague 049 still kept it his highest priority to heal it but when given the chance to heal me or the guards 049 didn't and just stood there. With all this evidence it can be said that 049 was an extremely calm state of mind to the point where he didnt feel the need to heal others from the plague, note he didn't fear the guards and his guns.
Recapitulation: This test could be considered a failure with 049 still fearing the peastilance. With what we did learn 049 can be put in a docile calm state with this drug being more compliant and not urging so hard to heal the pestilence.

Results Experiment E: If we use the medication Citalopram on SCP 049 then he will become happier than usual with the mood enhancement drug, could also possibly make him calmer than his usual state to the point where he forgets about curing the great pestilence. This is part of PROJECT SERENE.
Procedure: Two Security officers were used for the containment and security of this procedure. They assisted me as I injected 049 with Citalopram, a 500mL syringe was used to inject the medicine. No one was harmed during the experiment. ( A D Class personal was promised to make 049 comply )
Findings: 2 minutes after the injection of citalopram 049 didn't change and acted exactly the same, asking him questions on how he felt he responded with “The same.” When asked about his desire to heal the great Pestilence he replied with “Ah doctor it is still my top priority to heal those who need it, You understand don't you?” This showed me that the drug was ineffective towards scp 049 with me even giving him a little more to see if I just gave him too little but nothing happened.
Recapitulation: I believe this test to be a failure with SCP-049 not changing at all with him still wanting to cure everyone.

RESULTS FAILURE
Results Experiment F: If we use the Medication Paroxetine on SCP 049 this will hopefully calm him to the point where he forgets about the great pestilence and he stops his quest to cure it for a short time. PROJECT SERENE
Procedure: 2 security were used for security and containment of this procedure, they ensured that guns pointed at 049 at all times to ensure he doesn't “cure us” The two security assisted me administering the drug to SCP-049(DRUG WAS INJECTED WITH 500mL syringe) No FO personal was harmed during this test. One dclass was given to 049 for his compliance.
Findings: 2 minutes after the drug was administered 049 reported feeling more calm than usual. When questioned 049 stated that the pestilence is still his highest priority. I asked SCP-049 if me and the two guards did not have the peasalince and he reported “You my doctor don't have it, but those two security are riddled with the pestilence.” Later into the interview 049 whispered to me that the guard had his gun on safety the whole time and could have cured him and caused a breach but chose not too.
Recapitulation: In this test 049 explained to me about a bond that we have connected with all this testing and that he wishes to see me again. This drug did calm him down but not enough for him to forget about the pestilence sadly.

Results Experiment G: Using the Medication Venlafaxine 049 would calm down and will stop feeling the sense of the “pestilence” among others. PART OF PROJECT SERENE
Procedure: Two Security officers were used for the security of this test, they kept their guns pointed at SCP-049. The security guards helped me administer the medicine[500mL SYRINGE USED] to 049. No one died, no one was harmed. SCP-049 WAS PROMISED A DCLASS IF HE COMPLIED-DCLASS WAS NOT GIVEN AT THE END OF THE TEST
Findings: 2 minutes after the medicine was administered I started giving 049 an interview to see how he was feeling. Asking 049 how he felt he reported feeling the same but became more agitated as the interview went on. I explained the medicine to 049 and in response he yelled and said “I'm no idiot, I'm a man of science and you think I wouldn't know what you injected me with!” I apologized and continued asking questions. I asked him if the great pestilence was still his top priority SCP-049 responded with “OF COURSE IT'S THE BIGGEST DANGER!” After this question I stopped the interview and told 049 that he will not be getting a dclass for his attitude during this experiment, SCP 049 then stood still for a minute and then fled to the corner crouching and becoming unresponsive.
Recapitulation: This test was a failure for the medicine giving the opposite effects of calming him, istead this medicine made SCP-049 more prone to mood swings with him starting calm, then angry, then sad and becoming unresponsive in a corner.

Results Experiment H: Using the Medication duloxetine 049 would calm down and will stop feeling the sense of “pestilence” among others. PART OF PROJECT SERENE
Procedure: 2 Security officers and one FE officer were used for the guards of this test. They ensured a gun was pointed at 049 at all times. No one died, no one was harmed. The security helped me administer the medicine duloxetine into 049. 049 WAS PROMISED DCLASS-DCLASS WAS GIVEN AT END OF TEST
Findings: two minutes after the medicine was administered I interviewed 049 to see if he felt any different. I started off by asking 049 if he knew anything about duloxetine and he responded with “Well doctor, i am pretty acquainted with Duloxetine, and i don't feel the need of an anti-depressants, But anyways doctor it doesn't work on me.” Asking the doctor if all antidepressants have no effects on him and he said “Well I don't know about that.” That was the final question as 049 didn't do anything out of the ordinary and reported feeling the same. A dclass was given to 049 and the test concluded.
Recapitulation: The drug duloxetine has no effects on SCP-049. 049 did say that he doesn't know if all antidepressants have no effects on him so we can still continue testing them on him.

RESULTS EXPERIMENT I: Using the medication Mirtazapine this could possibly calm 049 to the point where he won't try to cure people from the pestilence. PART OF PROJECT SERENE
Procedure: Two security officers were used for the guards of this test to make sure no one was hurt or terminated. The two security officers kept their guns on 049 and helped me administer the medicine mirtazapine. No one was harmed, no one died. 049 WAS GIVEN A DCLASS AND WAS GIVEN COFFEE AT THE END OF THE TEST
Findings: 2 minutes after the medicine was injected into SCP-049 he began to look extremely tired. After the injection I began asking questions to SCP-049 to see how he was feeling. Asking 049 any questions seemed useless as for every answer he would mumble so you couldn't make out what he said(POSSIBLY GOT EXTREMELY CALM FROM THE DRUG). 10 minutes after the medicine was injected SCP-049 collapsed, having a medic on stand by he checked if 049 was ok and told me that he had just passed out asleep, extremely strange because 049 never rests nor sleeps. 5 minutes later SCP-049 woke up still tired but didn't mumble as much, Asking 049 how he felt he responded “I feel strange doctor.” I asked SCP-049 if he could still sense the pestilence in these two security(PREVIOUSLY STATED THEY REAKED OF THE PESTILENCE) SCP-049 responded with “Doctor this is a first for me, I can't feel the pestilence at all.” After hearing this you would think that SCP-049 would be extremely worried being unable to feel the pestilence but the drug may have counter acted that as he stayed calm the entire time. 4 minutes later 049 collapsed from tiredness again and as the medic woke him up, the drug seemed to wear off and 049 came back to his usual state feeling awake and telling the officers that he can heal them. The test concluded and SCP 049 was given coffee as a special request and a D-class for his testing.
