PROJECT: Void was a project dedicated to creating a memetic agent capable of removing hallucinations from schizophrenia. The PROJECT was started by Dr. Atlas, and resulted in the creation of the memetic agent Void, named because of its ability to make certain objects disappear. Preliminary research shows that it works by altering the occipital lobe, the temporal lobe, and the left frontal lobe of the brain.1 It is unclear how Dr. Atlas developed Void. It is unclear who else worked on PROJECT: Void. Methods of transmission seem to be through hearing speech from afflicted people. While Void was successful in blocking hallucinations, it also appeared to develop sentience, and proceeded to block and alter more than just hallucinations. As a result, eliminating all instances of Void were necessary. Antimemetic agents spread seemed to have no effect on Void. Suppression of Void with other methods was impossible due to Void’s ability to control sight and hearing. In the end, containment through conventional methods was too difficult, so SCP-[x] had to be used. Approximately 94% of the world’s population had been infected before the O5 council decided to use SCP-[x], technology capable of transcribing information in real life into a digital form, as virtual information. It seemed that to transcribe information, a description of anything real was put in, and any description that matched in the real world would be suddenly removed from the world and transcribed into the digital world, rather than simply being duplicated. This digital world was deemed SCP-[x]-1. In a desperate last attempt to control Void, the O5 voted to transcribe the entirety of the infected human populace into virtual information, including themselves. It was tested and proved that virtual consciousness could not be affected by a real mental manifestation of any memetic instance due to the incompatibility of this memetic agent and its reliance on brain structure, and the remaining human populace would be able to remain free of Void. Furthur preliminary research was requested to see if it was possible Void could be transcribed by accident. It was proved that transcribing descriptions of a result of a memetic agent, such as a hallucination from a memetic agent, would transcribe a virtual version of that memetic agent embed within the afflicted person. The vote was tied with a 7:7 vote, with O5 members 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 12, and 13 advocating for a transcription, and the remaining members voting against transcription. An O5 member passed away through unknown circumstances after a few days of the vote. O5-1 called another vote on this matter due to its urgency, and the vote passed 7:6, with O5-14 switching position on the vote. The O5 council elected to transcribe all people into the digital world, along with anything else necessary to remove from the remaining populace. Void was not to be transcribed. In doing so, all memetic instances of Void would be erase, as this memetic instance cannot exist without a suitable host. All of the infected human population was transcribed, including the O5 council, and all living SCP anomalies were transcribed as well, along with their containment grounds and procedures due to the large amount of Foundation personnel infected with SCP-[x]. This incident was labeled Incident: CodeRed, and a copy of the information and procedures was sent into the virtual world’s Foundation archive. The uninfected populace was given access to SCP-2000 to repopulate the world through written instructions. Real world inhabitants can observe information in the digital world with no consequence. To describe it best, it is like a one way mirror into the digital world that nothing but information can pass through. Due to the nature of SCP-[x]-1, all information created within SCP-[x]-1 can be accessed by people in the real world. Memetic agents, cognitohazards, and other anomalies can pass through into information located within SCP-[x]-1, but information with said anomalies cannot transmit anomalies into the real world. After investigation, it was determined that coordinates could be altered in order to send SCP instances, and people, to specific locations. In the digital world, Code Room Green was where all non-harmful SCPs were sent, and when necessary, people.
Here's the truth. It's only fair for you to know.
Addendum 1: Until recently, SCP-[x] was given the placeholder of the SCP-[x] page present in the digital world. Lead Researcher David Burk had decided that it was necessary for everyone in the digital world to be given access to the real SCP-[x], and be alerted of the current circumstances of the real world. Due to his unauthorized actions, he will be terminated within 30 days of this report.
