<Begin Log, Day 1>
Captain █████: Mission Report. Day 1:
Perimeter of clearing is 50m by 50m. Temperature is 20°C. We entered the house at 1600, and found a group of people. It was odd, they invited us in, and introduced us to everyone. There's about 10 people living here, and they seem oddly happy.
However, they gave us a list of rules that we have to follow. I told the squad to humor them for now while we are investigating. We don't want any conflict.

<Begin Log, Day 2>
Captain █████: Mission Report. Day 2:
These people have a small garden in one room which grows just enough to feed them all. They were thankful when we showed them some of our supplies. Some of them hadn't eaten meat in years. They lead us into a room to set up camp, where there is plenty of place for us to sleep.
Today, I ordered Agent ███ to go outside and retake measurements, and the people living here would not let him. They said that they never leave the house. That it is too dangerous. I'm not uncaring. I understand that they have been trapped here for a long time. We don't know how long we will have to stay here, so I'm currently ranking having good relations with this people a high priority. We can live without knowing what temperature it is today.

<Begin Log, Day 3>
Captain █████: Mission Report. Day 3:
Things are weird here. This house is huge and yet the people living here try to occupy as few rooms at a time as possible. There is always someone in an adjacent room, and very little privacy.
The squad is starting to get anxious, there is very little we can do to investigate while following these rules. We'll lay low for a few more days, then we have to do something.

<Begin Log, Day 5>
Captain █████: Whispering:Mission Report. Day 5:
The time is 0400, and y'know what, I think I understand these rules now. Listen…
[Loud Footsteps Above]
I don't know what it is, but its on the floor above us. Everyone's on edge now. It won't stop walking around. It hasn't left that room either. I think that's why they keep the door locked. But they wont tell me what it actually is.

<Begin Log, Day 8>
Captain █████: Mission Report. Day: 8:
I've been sending my squad out to routinely check the house and the outside. Its against the rules, but I have a job to do. The temperature hasn't changed. At all. And there is no wind. The sky has been covered with clouds this whole time. Its like time doesn't move in this place. I haven't even been here a week and I want to leave.

<Begin Log, Day ██>
Female Voice: Captain. We know what you've been doing. We have these rules for a reason okay? You have to stop now. There is no way out. I'm sorry, but the moment you walked into this clearing this became your life.
Captain █████: Alicia, listen. I came here knowing what I was getting into, I thought this through. And I knew the risk, but I also know that I would rather die trying to rescue everyone from this place, than rot away in silence. My squad agrees with me.
Male Voice: We've accepted our fate, captain! Things could be better, but they could certainly be worse. Living a quiet life here is not the worst thing.
<Guns cock>
Male Voice: Woah! Can you get your guys to chill out!
Captain █████: Stand down, men! Listen, everyone. I understand.
Male Voice: Stop saying that you understand! If you understood you would just follow te rules!
Agent ████: Hey, hey back up!
<Unintelligible arguing>
<Loud creaking>
<Silence>
<Loud footsteps above>
Agent ███: Was that-
Male Voice: You should have followed the rules.
<Silence for 6 seconds>
<Agent ███ screams>
<Gunfire>

<Begin Log, Day ██>
Captain █████: It wasn't what we thought. It wasn't what we thought, at all! It took ███! It opened a door! I don't know how it did that! If it had something to do with us breaking the rules, or it just figured it out!
<Heavy breathing>
Captain █████: Okay, okay. There was an argument, they figured out that my squad hadn't been listening to them. And suddenly we heard a loud creak, like a door opening. I didn't think it was possible. They were so sure that it could be stopped that way.
The door to the room we were in opened. We opened fire, but there wasn't anything really there. Just a small tendril looking thing. It-it grabbed him, and pulled him away. We followed him, up 2 floors. And it pulled him into the room. When we went in there- oh god.
I had been in that room before, and it wasn't how it was supposed to be. It was like a cave, a giant cave. There was a massive pit at the bottom. Inside were- god. I could just see 2 giant eyes, like a snake's eyes. And its mouth. It was massive. Full of sharp teeth. Th-the creature. Its huge.
It just [EXPUNGED] him. Our bullets couldn't even touch it. We ran. Agent ████ and I holed up in this room. Everyone else got separated. I could swear I could hear it laughing. Oh god. I don't know why. Why now? Was it because of us? I don't know…
[END LOG]
<Begin Log, Day ██>
Captain █████: We have enough supplies to last us here for a few more days. Most of the supplies were in the other room. It hasn't tried to get into our room, but I've heard footsteps. Its still out there.
This whole time I've been thinking about the rules. I understand them now. It can appear in any room, but it can't seem to leave that room. It becomes like a portal to- I guess it's world? That massive cave, with it at the bottom. Now it can reach out with those tendrils, it can pull people in.
There was just one rule that I didn't understand, the last one, about the sun. But I think I do now. Last night it got dark. No no, not dark. Like, darker than dark. Like an idiot, I looked out the window. I guess the clearing itself is a place it can turn into a portal. It saw me. I know it did. It looked in the window, and it laughed. Then the lights came back. It knows where we are now, I have to make a break for it. I have to run into the forest. Maybe if I just sprint as fast as I can, I can make it out. God! I should've just listened!
[END LOG]
<Begin Log, Day ██>
Captain █████: No! God! I ran! I swear I did! Its hopeless! I can't-
<Heavy breathing>
Captain █████: Listen. Listen to me. I'll tell you what happened. As soon as I got a chance, I ran. I followed all the rules and made my way through the house. I knocked twice hard and waited for a response. If there was none, I went. I honestly don't know what would've happened if there was one. I guess I just got lucky, ha ha. Um, ████ didn't want to come with me. He stayed behind.
I made it outside, and I went to the forest. After I caught my breath, I made a break for it. I ran as fast as I could. I could see the tendrils, trying to grab at me, but I ran faster. I heard it, that creature. It heard it screaming. In rage. I even lit a flare, and dropped it, to try and distract it. But the trees wouldn't burn.
Then I saw it. Light at the end. I ran and ran ready to see world again, and when I jumped out of the forest, do you know what I found?! I was back in the clearing! I looped around! How is that possible?!
<Cries>
Captain █████: I was on the other side of the house. It just looped. I'm stuck. Listen. When you enter that clearing, you are already dead. There is no way out. Please. In the name of me and my squad. Never let anyone else in here ever again. I don't care if they're D-Class, just let this place die. I don't know if burning it would end this, but I think its worth a shot. This will be my last log.
[END LOG]
