Item #: SCP-XXXX [Codename: Babble Rock]
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a secure storage locker at Site-19. Access requires minimum clearance level 3.
Testing with SCP-XXXX requires approval from level 4 personnel. Transport and handling of SCP-XXXX must follow standard procedures for bio-hazardous material to prevent any physical contact with the entity. Physical contact with and handling of SCP-XXXX should be done exclusively by Class D personnel.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a sedimentary lake rock with a rudimentary face painted on. Extensive material scans and analysis using [EXPUNGED] technology reveal the rock material to be functionally impervious, and merely a shell that accounts for less than 10% of the entity's total mass. The remainder of SCP-XXXX seems to be composed of unknown, and currently unidentifiable, material.
SCP-XXXX is alleged to be sentient, but this cannot currently be confirmed.
If SCP-XXXX comes in physical contact with a sentient species it appears to initiate a quick "linking" reaction, similar to synthesis or a synchronization process, for a few seconds. During this period the "host" will enter a catatonic state and remain unresponsive.
While containment of SCP-XXXX is trivial, attempts to study and understand it have proven problematic due to it's esoteric nature.
