NOTICE: Due to an error at its discovery, an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 was previously deemed the source of this anomaly. The document has now been updated with the appropriate information, however the original containment procedures, description, and test logs have been kept for documentation purposes, with the original anomaly renamed to SCP-XXXX-1a.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
XXXX Instances: When an instance of SCP-XXXX is discovered, it is to be reported to MTF Epsilon-6, who is then to recover it. Recovery should be executed with remote-controlled field drones in order to minimize risk to personnel. The field drones will be sent in with sedated mice for XXXX to inhabit. Once XXXX has attached itself to a mouse, it will be brought back to the facility and flash frozen. The frozen mice will be stored in a freezer in the facility's storage unit.
Non-Human XXXX-1 Instances:When a wild XXXX-1 instance is found, field drones carrying food laced with sedatives will be sent in. Once the instance is unconscious it can be brought to the nearest facility and flash frozen. Depending on the size of the specimen, it can either be kept in storage for future research, or disposed of via incineration.
Human XXXX-1 Instances: If a human XXXX-1 instance is discovered, they should be sedated or given a high dosage of anxiety medication before being taken into foundation custody. They can be kept in standard humanoid containment cells, and allowed out under the supervision of guards if they can pass a psychiatric evaluation for anxiety.
If they cannot pass the psych evaluation, they will be put in consistent therapy sessions and, if necessary, prescribed medication to alleviate their symptoms. They will only be permitted to leave their cell with the permission of the lead researcher, and must be blindfolded and accompanied by 2 guards the entire time. No physical contact is to occur without approval from a level 3 researcher.
SCP-XXXX-1a is to be kept in a standard humanoid containment cell and must attend therapy sessions twice a week with Dr. Wilkinson. It has been prescribed 40mg paroxetine to take once per day in the morning. Attending staff are required to ensure that said pills are ingested. It may also carry up to two 5mg alprazolam pills in case of panic attacks.
When outside of its containment cell it must wear a blindfold at all times, and anyone interacting with it is not to come into physical contact with it without permission from the lead researcher.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is an arthropod roughly 2mm in length with the ability to disintegrate solid or liquid materials and organisms that it is aware of the location of by separating the material at the molecular level (See addendum X for known exceptions). There is currently no method to reverse this effect.
When in the wild, SCP-XXXX will search for a mammalian organism and attempt to attach itself to the creature’s brain, typically by crawling in through the ears or nose while the creature is asleep, creating an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Once attached, it seems to have access to most of the host’s senses. However, it currently only uses its connection to the amygdala, parietal lobe, and occipital lobe in order to function. It will use the host’s senses to protect its host from things perceived as dangerous by disintegrating anything that attempts to cause the host body harm, or scares it.
All attempts to remove specimens from -1 instances have failed. The only currently known way to kill an instance of XXXX is to burn it at 400c.
SCP-XXXX-1a is a 15 year old intersex human with generalized anxiety disorder. It is capable of disintegrating liquid, solid materials, and organisms that it knows the location of through either touch or sight. It does not seem to have the capacity to control when this occurs, as it often disintegrates objects it does not intend to and appears regretful afterwards.
The anomaly appears to be linked to the entity’s amygdala as it only triggers when the subject is in distress, and generally will only disintegrate the specific item or person which caused said distress. The only situation in which it has disintegrated more than what was stressing it was during a panic attack (check incident log x for details ). It can be assumed the reason for this was extreme overfiring by the amygdala under the attack.
Discovery Log:
SCP-XXXX-1a was discovered in Shannon, Canada, on 20/05/2019, after embedded agents in Quebec City Police Department heard reports of a highschool building collapsing for seemingly no explanation.
During questioning, multiple students and teachers recounted the event as a student(later identified as Alexis ██████) seemingly turning several walls within the building to dust, before fleeing the premises. When questioned, several neighbors to the school stated that they had seen a student in the high school’s uniform running down the street around the time of the event, headed towards the forest outside of town.
MTF Epsilon-6 was called in to do a search of the forest region outside of the town, while the embedded agents administered class A amnestics to individuals who had seen any anomalous events and gave a cover story of infrastructural insecurity to local news stations.
SCP-XXXX-1a was located by a field agent 4 km away from the school after approximately 1 hour of searching. It seemed to be experiencing a panic attack upon discovery, as the trees, rocks, and plants in the surrounding area had all been turned to dust. Agents managed to incapacitate it with canisters containing sedative gas, after which it was taken into Foundation custody.
The following interview was conducted at site 17 one hour after SCP-XXXX-1a regained consciousness.
Interviewer: Dr. Carmen Wilkinson
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-1a
Foreword: For the safety of Dr. Wilkinson this interview was conducted remotely through speakers in XXXX-1a's containment cell. XXXX-1a had awoken one hour prior and appeared to be in distress.

Dr. Wilkinson: Hello, I am Dr-
SCP-XXXX-1a: I'mSoSorry!! I-I SWEAR I never meant to hurt anyone I have NO idea what-!!
Dr. Wilkinson: Please! Please, calm down. You're not in any trouble. I'm just here to ask you a few questions.
SCP-XXXX-1a: Oh… I-I'm sorry…
Dr. Wilkinson: I am Dr. Carmen Wilkinson. What is the last thing you remember?
SCP-XXXX-1a: It's…kind of blurry… but I think I was in the forest…? Then I remember smelling something strange…
Dr. Wilkinson: Yes, we had to sedate you with gas to get you here. Do you remember why you were in the forest?
SCP-XXXX-1a: …It's… It's where I go when I start feeling anxious…
Dr. Wilkinson: And what made you feel anxious that day?
SCP-XXXX-1a: It, It was because… because I-I… I killed them! And I-I don't, I don't know how…! I just-then they-they… (SCP-XXXX-1a begins to cry)
Dr. Wilkinson: …Do you need a minute?
SCP-XXXX-1a: P-Please…sorry…
Dr. Wilkinson: Alright.
(Dr. Wilkinson pauses the recording)
(Recording starts again)
Dr. Wilkinson: Ok, let's start where we left off. What happened the morning of May 20th?
SCP-XXXX-1a: Well… I had slept through my alarm, so I was 20 minutes late to school. I…I don't like being late, because my teacher always yells at me in front of the class, so I was already feeling pretty nervous…
Dr. Wilkinson: What happened when you arrived at the school?
SCP-XXXX-1a: When… When I opened the classroom door Mrs. Yejun looked at me and looked really angry… S-So I started panicking a-and… (XXXX-1a takes a deep breath) …And then she just… vanished. There was just a pile of dust where she had been standing… a-and… …
Dr. Wilkinson: …And?
SCP-XXXX-1a: …after a few seconds, the class started screaming… One of my classmates turned and began yelling at me, but as soon as I looked at her sh-she vanished too… after that I just turned around and ran… I-I bumped into several walls and pillars on my way out, b-because I wasn't thinking straight, and they also vanished once I touched them…
Dr. Wilkinson: Do you remember looking at any other students or teachers on your way out?
SCP-XXXX-1a: I don't… I don't think so…? I was so focused on getting away… Why, is-is somebody else dead?!
Dr. Wilkinson: (Pauses) No.
SCP-XXXX-1a: Thank goodness…
Dr. Wilkinson: Has anything like this happened before? Perhaps on a smaller scale?
SCP-XXXX-1a: No, never.
Dr. Wilkinson: Alright. Have you traveled anywhere new recently?
SCP-XXXX-1a: No-Or, yes, we - my father and I - went camping from the 18th to 19th, in Réserve Faunique Mastigouche.
Dr. Wilkinson: Do you remember seeing anything odd there?
SCP-XXXX-1a: …Nothing I can recall.
Dr. Wilkinson: Alright, that will be all for today. Thank you for your cooperation.

Interviewer's Note: It is my personal recommendation that we do not share any information about the other casualties or the collapse of the building to SCP-XXXX, as they already seem distressed enough over the two deaths they know of.
