SCP-0000, as it was found, off the coast of ██████████, Iceland
Item #: SCP-0000
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-0000 is to be kept in the Light Containment Zone of Area-██, in a twenty-by-twenty (20x20) concrete room, without any other special procedures. Access to SCP-0000 is done so by a door no less than three (3) inches thick, with level-2 personnel performing a check every twelve (12) hours. One (1) Foundation Member will be tasked with measuring the surfaces of SCP-0000 with basic and advanced mathematical tools to measure any deviation in construction. After the incident at Site-██ additional safety measures have been in place to prevent the theft of SCP-0000 by third-party militants. SCP-0000 will now be kept in Heavy Containment area ███, in a twenty-by-twenty (20x20) room. A door no less than six (6) inches of an appropriately strong titanium is to be used, with at least two (2) identification locks. Only O3 personnel may access the door, after they have received written AND verbal permission from Overseer ████████.
Description: SCP-0000 is a large, black monolith, measuring 15 feet fall, and 3 feet across in the shape of a large rectangular prism. Basic mineral analysis reveals its makeup is completely obsidian, formed by basic volcanic deposits from the upper North Polar region. Attempts to date the objects or samples "taken" from it are so far, unsuccessful. After additional testing, Dr. █████████ from the ████ Institute has dated the object back to pre-Archaen times, and further implying the object may not be original to our solar system. Initial testing of SCP-0000 has revealed several anomalous qualities about it as follows.
1. SCP-0000 is capable of producing its own luminescence, though the source or cause of this is unknown.
2. SCP-0000 "sheds" small pieces of obsidian from itself. These small flakes vary in size from 0.08mm to 0.10mm, and have magnetic properties. The range of this magnetism limited, but does not seem to increase or decrease based on the size of the flake. Other than magnetism, these flakes do not exhibit any other anomalous qualities, and do not require further classification.
3. In accordance with sanctioned research, authorized by Dr. ████████ at Site-██, ███████, Deputy Research Director. was instructed to physically touch SCP-0000. The subject reported a cool, pleasant feeling. After several minutes, ███████ claimed his hand was starting to get cold, but could not remove it from the surface. Laser thermometer testing showed that ███████'s hand was still (77 degrees F) room temperature, as was SCP-0000. Dr. ███████ was required to perform an emergency amputation. The hand was released only after amputation, blood repelling as if somehow influenced by its inherent magnetic properties.
Addendum: All further testing with SCP-0000 has been halted indefinitely after the incident at Site-██. SCP-0000 will now be held in Heavy Containment under the direct responsibility of Overseer ████████.
