Object Class: Euclid

Containment Procedures SCP-#### is currently contained in the town of ■■■■■■■■■■, IN. The town has been evacuated and removed from all digital maps and GPS systems. All streets aside from the main road cutting through the town have been sealed off to prevent outsider interference. All former residents were relocated and given class C amnestics.
The town is now inhabited only by foundation D-class personnel who, after experiencing effects of SCP-####, are to be removed, given class C amnestics to prevent permanent mental effects, then replaced by new personnel who have never experienced SCP-####'s effects. (Note for Dr.Xero, personnel are preferred not to have a history with "Night Terrors".) A perpetual supply of new personnel in the town gives SCP-#### a constant supply of victims, giving it no reason to leave the town.
A total of 8 guards are to be monitoring the perimeter of the town, two at each entry point. These personnel are also to be swapped out if they experience SCP-####'s effects. Any vehicles that wish to enter the town are to be redirected to only cut through the town on the previously mentioned main road.
All personnel within the town's perimeter are to keep a dream journal where they are to log they're dream every morning. A failure to do so will result in replacement under assumption that they have encountered SCP-####'s effect. Dr.Xero is in charge of selecting new personnel for replacements of both guards and D-class personnel.

Description: SCP-#### is hard to describe due to its memetic effects on subjects. If a person is to encounter SCP-####, they will go missing for a minimum of 12 hours and up to 24 hours. Subjects are only approached by SCP-#### when alone and chances of encounter increase at night and in forested areas. Supposedly, SCP-#### puts them through terrifying events through the night of their abduction. Subjects will then appear in their own bed in the following morning with little to no recollection of events that occurred with SCP-####.
Memories of the encounter are scarce, however tend to be vivid. These memories are always assumed by subjects to simply be a night terror due to SCP-####'s memetic effect. The only way they become aware of the event being real is when they are told of their own disappearance. Anything a subject can recall after an encounter will often be too terrifying for the subject to willingly describe. Physical harm to a subject from the event is healed completely by the time they awake.
Through extensive interviews and therapy, Dr.Xero was able to get 6 affected subjects to describe their memories. They each had at least one vivid memory that they seemed to share. The shared memory is of them walking through a dark forest and seeing SCP-#### in the distance. They then turn away in fear only to be met with the "worst nightmare" of the individual subject. (This is not the only thing to occur during the encounter, however, this memory is simply shared between all those who recall the encounter. Some remember more than just this memory, including one subject recalling being personally tortured by SCP-####. Subject did not wish to give details.)
Subjects described SCP-#### as humanoid-shaped, however all limbs are replaced with tendrils. Aside from two white orbs assumed to be the entity's eyes, its body is made up entirely of "pure darkness" as described unanimously by all subjects. They also claim it wore a classic black tuxedo suit with a black necktie and white undershirt. (One subject was able to give an artist's rendition of SCP-####, however trying to recall the memories triggered an extreme reaction of fear and the subject was not willing to create a more detailed image.)
Subjects also claim there to be a strange odor during the experience, however they are unable to describe the odor. It was later discovered through testing that if the subject smells the odor again after an SCP-#### encounter, it will trigger a Post Traumatic Stress reaction and many more vivid memories will flood the victim's mind until the subject loses consciousness out of fear. Subjects will remain unconscious for multiple hours and sometimes up to an entire day before awakening. The odor varies from victim to victim, however the odor of a decaying corpse is common. Subjects who have experienced an SCP-#### encounter are to be given class C amnestics to prevent mental issues such as paranoia and sleep deprevation.

How to know when you've had an encounter: A guide for D-Class assigned to SCP-####.
•Step One (mandatory) - Keep a dream journal and log in it every morning. As well as recalling the encounter, this process also trains your brain to call back to the previous night's "dream" more vividly.
•Step Two - If you are unsure about whether you had a normal night terror or an encounter, check your calender. If there is an entire day that you can't recall, you had an encounter.
•Step Three - During your required town meeting in the morning, if no one else has any claims of a night terror, then you had an encounter. (SCP-#### always takes one subject every day/night)
•When you have a confirmed or highly suspected encounter, see Dr.Xero for treatment.

Addendum:

SCP-#### Discovery: There was an abnormal spike in missing persons reports in northern United States, starting in Oregon in 19■■. All missing persons would be reported to have returned the next morning. As the years progressed, these instances of 24 hour disappearances seemed to be moving across the country. When no possible means of disappearance or return were able to be discovered by law enforcement, the investigation of these events was taken over by the SCP Foundation. By tracking the missing persons reports, the foundation was able to make predictions on which town would be targeted next. Whenever a town was targeted it would be almost directly East of the previous. Each town would have one missing persons report every day until all residents had been taken and returned once. The anomaly would the leave the town permanently. Eventually the Foundation intercepted the anomaly in ■■■■■■■■■■, IN in 19■■. It has been contained there ever since.
