Item #: SCP-X

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-X-1-A is to be kept in a concrete cell, with an airlock on one side. Two night vision cameras with infrared technology are to be placed in the corners of the cell, and there is to be a microphone for interviews. SCP-X-1-A is to be watered via sprinkler system every five days and is to be given 4 hours of UV light per day. Entities claiming to be 'Researcher ██████,' excluding SCP-X-1 instances, should be terminated immediately.

Other instances of SCP-X-1, if discovered, are to be incinerated and ashes are to be disposed of.

Following containment of SCP-X-1-A, Researcher ██████ should be referred to as “Researcher ████.”

Description: SCP-X-1 is a population of Caucasian males, all measuring 6 feet 1 inch in height and all roughly 34 years of age (see Addendum X-B). SCP-X-1 are composed of an amalgam of both plant tissue and animal tissue. they speak English and are generally compliant, if not falsifying, with Foundation staff. they are capable of photosynthesis, and will release spores, SCP-X-2, if in constant contact with sunlight for at least 12 continual hours. SCP-X-2, if inhaled, the spores are fatal to all known terrestrial life, excluding SCP-X-1 instances.

If these spores take root in fertile soil, they will grow into another, separate aspect of SCP-X-1. The new instances grow from the ground up, with bones growing first, which are then surrounded by vines and the remaining space filled in with human tissue. Aspects are exact copies of the original SCP-X-1, and also refer to themselves as “Researcher ██████.” They are incapable of locomotion and expelling spores. Instead, photosynthesis allows release of pheromones that attract most mammals, excluding humans. Any animal tissue, including regular human tissue, within 5 feet of SCP-X-1s will become stuck in any flat, solid surface(s) they are touching, and will be absorbed into the surface(s) within two hours. This is how instances of SCP-X-1 other than SCP-X-1-A "feed."

As a result, SCP-X-1-A seems to be a producer, and other SCP-X-1 instances are decomposers. The reasons for these different feeding techniques are unknown.

Addendum X-A: Interview Log

Interviewed: SCP-X-1-A

Interviewer: Doctor ████████████

<Begin Log>

Doctor ████████████: Hello, SCP-X-1-A. How has your time here been so far?
SCP-X-1-A: Okay, I guess. But I don't see why you need to keep me in a cell like this. *SCP-X-1-A gestures to the room around it.*

Doctor ████████████: It's because you're dangerous.

SCP-X-1-A: I promise, I'm not.

SCP-X-1-A: My name is H██████ ██████, I'm a researcher at Site-██.

Doctor ████████████: My apologies, H██████. May I ask you a few questions?

SCP-X-1-A: I suppose.

Doctor ████████████: Thank you. First, do you have any idea how your photosnythetic properties work?

SCP-X-1-A: I don't have any photosynthetic properties. I eat food, not sunlight.

<End Log>

Note: The interview continued for another half hour, with SCP-X answering all remaining questions as if it were Researcher ██████.

Addendum X-B: Information about age given by SCP-X-1-A, although autopsies of other SCP-X-1 instances show that limbs have tree-like 'rings' denoting an age of around 9 years.

Addendum X-C: Test Log

Subject Points of Contact Result
D-X-31 hands touching ceiling of testing chamber, feet touching ground. Subject was separated at the waist. Subject reported feeling 'mild tingling' in the pelvic area as they were ripped in half.
D-X-35 Extremities each touched separate surface. Subject was split into four separate parts at the abdomen. Subject did not report feeling any sensation from the area.
D-X-37 (Subject was to be executed later that day) Subject directed to cut through their own legs with a bone saw after SCP-X-2's effect had taken hold. Subject's legs were absorbed, but the remainder of his corpse was not.
