Item #: SCP-boof
Label-Maker.jpg

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-boof is to be stored in Class 2 Anomalous Item Container 23, on site 9. SCP-boof may be removed for testing by researchers with level 2 clearance or higher, though any researcher wishing to conduct experiments must first submit a request to the Site Director. Researchers are prohibited from applying labels to anything aside from items specified in their request, and may not remove labels from testing chambers.

Description: SCP-boof is a label maker from Montgomery Ward. SCP-boof does not appear to be able to be damaged, taken apart, or otherwise being open to internal examination. It has a seemingly infinite supply of self-adhesive label material. Approximately 5.3 seconds after creating a label, SCP-boof will increase in weight by the approximate weight of that label. This seems to indicate that SCP-boof creates a new section of self-adhesive label material every time it creates a label. The possibility of a pocket dimension containing this label material has been denied due to lack of importance.
Once a label is placed upon an object, that object takes on the characteristics of the object indicated on the label. Any label that doesn't contain a noun will have no effect, though it does not matter what language the label is printed in. Vague concepts, such as 'God', have so far yielded inconclusive results; See Addendum boof. As a result of the nature of SCP-boof, researchers are now prohibited from making labels indicating anything other than objects that are certain to exist, and certain in nature.

Test Log: During experiment 3-7, Researcher Jā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆ, henceforth called 'J', set SCP-boof to read 'God' before pulling the label off and placing it onto the test subject, a rubber ball. Upon placing the label, nothing can be seen to happen. J then shook the ball. Exactly 5.3 seconds after the label had been placed, the ball seemingly disappeared, leaving no trace. J then asked the two guards attending her if either of them were religious. Guard 263 proclaimed his belief in a god, while Guard 327 claimed to be an atheist. J then requested that Guard 263 create and apply a label of 'God' to another ball. 263 did as instructed. Upon 5.3 seconds having passed after the placing of the label, the ball began to glow. The ball slowly drifted upwards, at a rate of approximately 10cm per second, and continued to glow brighter. Once reaching a height of approximately 53cm, the ball disappeared. J halted the experiment, immediately contacting the site director.
