Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be secured within a 5x5 meter room constructed of a blend polyurethane, rubber, and other such non-conductive materials. Said room must be lined with sound damping material, in order to prevent a possible minor breach. The object itself should be kept in a case with damping materials, suspended in an electrophobic polymer.

Personnel level 3 and above are permitted access to said room. Otherwise, there must be two security personnel stationed at the entrance who shall be cycled at least every two days, and must not return to to the location of containment until six days have passed, or briefed medical staff have deemed them fit to return. Those admitted to the location of containment must be stripped of any and all devices or objects that can transmit or conduct noise, heat beyond a temperature of [REDACTED] Kelvin, or electricity. For their own safety, they must also wear hearing protection in the event of an accidental triggering of the object.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a hollow metallic object with the appearance of an animal horn. Analysis by on-site paleontological staff have found it to be most reminiscent of a ram's horn measuring approximately .9 meters in length, made of an unknown metallic substance. SCP-XXXX came to the foundation's awareness after the object was unearthed in a non-foundation dig-site located at 35.46* N, 31.86* W alongside multiple banners and robes dated to be from [REDACTED]. Reports of mass unexplained cases of deafness among excavators was investigated by local agents, who quickly determined SCP-XXXX to be the source of the events.

SCP-XXXX has the anomalous property of amplifying any and all vibrations within a 40 meter radius, with the amplification increasing based on the distance from the source. This property is especially pronounced when a source of vibration is placed near the small opening at the 'tip' of the horn. See [Test Log 2] for further information. There also appears to be a locus of the amplified vibrations towards the wider end of the horn, with the possibility of incredibly destructive results like that which is found in [Test Log 2].

Prolonged exposure to SCP-XXXX has been found to result in symptoms similar to that of tinnitus, but with a timbre have been described by staff and test subjects as "befitting of a brass instrument". After a period of more than 3 hours direct exposure, or 48 hours of protected exposure, this tinnitus is capable of deafening a person. Testing has not yet found a way to nullify this effect entirely, but it has been found that those not deafened return to normal hearing after two weeks.

Test Notes/ Interview Logs:

Addendum: Dr. [REDACTED] Notes: If left uncontained or improperly contained, it is very possible a feedback loop could form, resulting in a breach of the containment site, or even destruction on a scale as of yet undetermined. Make sure the containment engineers research into further methods of damping.
