Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
A property that is found to contain an instance of SCP-#### is to be immediately purchased through the normal channels. If the current owners do not allow the Foundation to acquire the land by legitimate means, then they are to be administered Class B amnestics and subsequently re-identified.
Any outside area is to be immediately fenced off, with special attention paid to flat spaces of dirt or grass. A level 3 agent that is at least forty (40) years of age is to be assigned to the property and must remain within it at all times to perform maintenance. Their duties include the immediate destruction of instances of SCP-####-1, preventing any incursion of children during a seeding event, and routine testing.
Description:
SCP-#### is a biological phenomenon that imitates an infestation of Lentodon Taraxacum. While the entity appears to be a scattering of separate flowers, a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scan reveals a singular mass below the surface that resembles a mycelium in appearance.
SCP-#### was first discovered in the wake of a tragedy
While SCP-#### remains dormant for most of the year, it begins to hunt in the spring. This process is referred to as “flowering”. The entity begins to grow above-ground extensions of itself, designated as SCP-####-1. ((NOTE: I am not sure if that is the correct way to use that kind of designation, could someone confirm?)) These have tendrils of red or green that are surrounded by leaf-like protrusions and terminate in a bright yellow perianth. The fragile tendrils, once broken, secrete a milky liquid with no known anomalous properties. These extremities cannot be prevented from emerging through the ground by any physical obstruction but once surfaced are reasonably easy to remove and destroy. If left to bloom, these ”flowers” will quickly go to seed en masse. It is important to note that no fertilization is performed and that what appears to be the seeds of SCP-####-1 have never been observed to germinate
Once the “seeding” process has begun, the extremities of SCP-#### have been observed to become irresistibly enticing to humanoids under the age of twelve (12) while maintaining a mild attraction to humanoids up to the age of twenty (20). Once they have been lured in by the “seeding” process the entity consumes its prey by ripping apart the ground under their feet. The victim is then slowly digested under the earth as SCP-#### begins its next flowering.
Addendum:
The rumors have been verified. It’s spreading as it eats. Thirty-two (32) separate instances have been identified in the continental US alone. Stricter Containment procedures and possible reclassification pending.
