SCP-XXXX photographed during a daytime encounter
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be monitored and pursued by detachments Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 ("Deep Feeders") until a proper means of containment are approved and put into effect by ████████ ██████.
Any and all instances of SCP-XXXX reported to/by Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 will result in the dispatch of embedded Gamma-6 agents stationed on ██████ Island to SCP-XXXX's last reported coordinates. Embedded agents are equipped with a flotilla of █ 45' RM-Bs to ensure that all instances of SCP-XXXX are intercepted and escorted to its potential destination.
All 45' RM-Bs are fitted with two M240B general-purpose machine guns as precautionary measures against local pirates and potential threats posed by SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3.
When monitoring instances of SCP-XXXX, authorized vessels must maintain a distance of at least 40 meters during the day and approximately 80 meters at night. Use of telescopic lenses (binoculars, telescopes, etc.) to view SCP-XXXX up-close is advised.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a large white wooden barque sail ship, approximately 110 meters in length. The ship is rigged with three masts of five sails each. The name, "Caleuche", adorns the ship's bow with floral ornamentations and the image of a traditional mermaid carved as the ship's figurehead.
Sightings of SCP-XXXX have been isolated to 20-40 kilometers around C█████ Island, an island off the coast of Chile. (██°██′S ██°██′W)
Individuals spotted aboard the ship are presumed to be members of the ships crew and will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-A. Most instances of SCP-XXXX-A are dressed in outdated articles of clothing similar to 15th century Spanish conquistadors and sailors. Other individuals have been seen wearing attire ranging from the early 1900s to modern day in stark contrast to those . All instances of SCP-XXXX-A have been observed performing rudimentary tasks associated with ship maintenance and navigation while seemingly oblivious to the presence of observing third-parties.
Despite the presence of an onboard crew, SCP-XXXX is suspected as being autonomous in nature as it is capable of operating without hands on-deck. All attempts to intercept and/or board the vessel have proven unsuccessful despite the vessel's relatively slow speed when compared to modern motorized seaworthy vessels. Upon near successful interceptions of the object, SCP-XXXX would evade research teams by fading out of sight or alternatively sailing downward gradually until the entirety of the object is submerged beneath the water.
