Item #: SCP-4156

Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4156 is to be placed on a table contained in a 5 meter by 5 meter airtight concrete cube with the lights off. There should a constant supply of oxygen leading into the cube. Should SCP-4156 be extinguished, the lights are to be turned on until it reignites. Every five (5) hours, the smoke emitted from SCP-4156 is to be pumped into a separate chamber, similar in size to the containment chamber for SCP-4156, and is never to be opened. The containment chamber for the smoke is to be made of a mixture of steel, iron, and titanium layered together. This chamber should be equally as airtight, however it should have no doors (except for a hole to allow a pipe to pump the gas in) and should be located 15 meters below the facility.

Description: SCP-4156 is a small cylindrical candle, approximately 5.08 centimeters tall and 1.27 centimeters in diameter. The wick of SCP-4156 is roughly 0.51 centimeters tall. SCP-4156 is seemingly unable to be extinguished artificially, unable to be put out with water or a fire extinguishers. However, if the oxygen supply to SCP-4156 is cut off, it is possible that it could be extinguished. The flame will reignite on its own, the time span for this ranging from thirty (30) seconds to up to twenty (20) minutes. SCP-4156 emits a thick red smoke, called SCP-4156-1, which seems to never rise or dissipate into the atmosphere. The smoke itself acts erratically when there are no people around it, however, after further research, the gas seems to 'take over' its host. The person affected will lose all conscious thought of their own. The infected person becomes, essentially, controlled by SCP-4156-1.

Log of experiments with SCP-4156:

Subject: Caucasian male, 1.58 meters in height, 128.94 pounds in weight.
Test: Subject exposed to SCP-4156 for five (5) minutes.
Result: No change.

Subject: Asian female, 1.2 meters in height, 104.74 pounds in weight.
Test: Subject exposed to SCP-4156 for one (1) hour.
Result: Subject rendered unconscious upon leaving the containment chamber, woke up after about ten (10) minutes. No change in brain activity upon awakening.

Subject: Mexican male, 1.77 meters in height, 159.12 pounds in weight.
Test: Subject exposed to SCP-4156 for fifteen (15) hours.
Result: Subject fell unconscious after approximately two (2) after exposure. Subject woke up after thirteen (13) hours. After awakening, the subject escaped the containment chamber. Five security guards, stationed around the chamber, attempted to contain the subject. The subject attacked three guards, managing to [REDACTED]. Subject was terminated successfully.

Subjects:
Subject 1: Caucasian male, 1.94 meters in height, 111.80 pounds in weight.
Subject 2: Asian male, 1.29 meters in height, 102.23 pounds in weight.
Test: Subjects exposed to SCP-4156 for three (3) full days. Strangely, both subjects remained conscious for the duration of the experiment. When the chamber was opened, Subject 1 was standing in the northwest corner of the room, while Subject 2 was lying on the ground, facedown. Multiple pieces of flesh seemed to be removed from both subjects, with the flesh torn out lying about the chamber. When the five (5) guards entered the containment chamber, Subject 2 rolled over and [REDACTED]. Subject 1 did nothing. A guard put his hand on Subject 1, to guide it out, however Subject 1 turned around and proceeded to [REDACTED]. [DATA EXPUNGED]. Due to this, the remaining guards shot tranquilizing bullets at both subjects. The bullets proved to not work, only seeming to anger both subjects, which both then [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] [DATA EXPUNGED], which caused Subject 2 to begin screaming again, until Subject 1 [REDACTED]. Subject 1 proceeded to consume the [REDACTED], while Subject 2 began whimpering. [DATA EXPUNGED]

Addendum 4156.01: All testing with SCP-4156 is to be halted until further notice.
