Special containment procedures: SCP 4505 is to be kept in a 14ft X 14ft lead-lined, dark room. This room is to also be pressurized with a mixture of {REDACTED} parts argon gas, and {REDACTED} parts carbon dioxide. Light levels in the room shall always stay below 1.5 lumens to preserve the contents of SCP 4505.
Description: SCP 4505 is a 5-foot tall free-standing bookshelf made of rosewood. It has 4 shelf layers, where each shelf is made of an unknown metal resembling 24-carat gold, though the exact elemental composition does not exist anywhere in the foundation’s database. SCP 4505 generates a book every 24-48 hours. The contents of these books contain either first-hand accounts of historical events that are yet to happen, or historical-fiction novels of events yet to happen. The exact contents of these books have been classified as a cognitohazard, see recovery log. These books will stop generating once there are five books on the shelf. Once read, the books will resume appearing on the shelf. Due to the cognitohazards these books contain, only class-D personnel are permitted to read the contents of these books. Once the class-D finishes one book, it is to terminated and the book incinerated, to contain the cognitohazard from being revealed. This process has only been performed {REDACTED} times, the ethics committee holds objection to the process being performed a {REDACTED} time.
Recovery log: SCP 4505 was recovered at {REDACTED} woodworking after almost {REDACTED} employees were diagnosed with schizophrenia within the span of four weeks. When the foundation received notice of this unusual behavior, it sent an agent to investigate. During the investigation, agent {REDACTED} discovered SCP 4505 in the employee break room. The agent also noticed 4 individuals reading the books in the room. The foundation then tracked those individuals, and within 2 months they have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. At this point the foundation decided to step in. on october {REDACTED}, 193{REDACTED}, foundation personnel entered the factory and extracted SCP 4505 with no incident.
Incident log: 4505-A: It was found several weeks later that agent {REDACTED} had made the mistake of reading a book that had come from the shelf, and subsequently was diagnosed with schizophrenia 3 weeks later. In an interview, the agent gave a full detailed summary of the contents of the book to Dr.{REDACTED}. 5 weeks later, Dr. {REDACTED} also was diagnosed with schizophrenia relating to the summary of the book. After this incident, all photos, summaries, and interview recordings were purged from foundation database, and agent {REDACTED} and Dr. {REDACTED} were administered class A amnestics. SCP 5405 is now classified a a class A cognitohazard.
