Description: SCP-5742 is a species of land snail, Cornu Aspersum (commonly known by "garden snail") capable of creating instances of SCP-5742-1. SCP-5742 was found in the abandoned city of ███████, roaming the general outside of the city park. In one house, SCP-5742-1 was found inside a power outlet and accidentally terminated due to unknown circumstances, subsequentially making all instances of SCP-5742-2 decay. SCP-5742 appears to have a smooth, pale surface with a yellow-brown shell, while instances of SCP-5742-1 are circular surfaces attached to electronic devices which grow up to a maximum radius of 12cm and have a thickness of 1cm.
The surface of SCP-5742-1 is a lot like the skin of SCP-5742. SCP-5742-1 can create instances of SCP-5742-2 which have a red opaque tint to them, they can grow to larger sizes (eventually encasing an entire inside of a device) and they are thinner. This makes instances of SCP-5742-2 almost unnoticeable as they spread through electrical devices and wires. The purpose of SCP-XXXX-1 is to make a psychological link between SCP-5742 and SCP-5742-2 instances (see A-5742/1). SCP-5742-2 instances can transfer energy between SCP-5742-1 and the devices it has grown to. SCP-5742 then distributes the energy to other SCP-5742-2 instances. Once SCP-5742-2 instances have stopped growing it will begin to feed into SCP-5742, expanding its mental capabilities further (see A-5742/2).
