Artist's interpretation of an incidence of SCP-XXXX-2

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Incidents related to SCP-XXXX are to be handled by a rotating squad of agents from MTF Mu-13, currently based out of ██████, in Eastern Tennessee. This squad is to be equipped and trained in the administration of type A amnestics. Individual agents are to be stationed in the vicinity of at-risk targets and are to be instructed to contact MTF Mu-13 upon the appearance of SCP-XXXX-3. MTF Mu-13 has been given access to the FBI's Terrorist Screening Database in order to identify at-risk targets.

Upon the manifestation of SCP-XXXX-3, Procedure 046-Hague is to be immediately initiated. See addendum XXXX-01. Upon a successful implementation of Procedure 046-Hague, SCP-XXXX-3 should cease and SCP-XXXX should not appear. At this point, MTF Mu-13 shall administer class A amnestics across a 3km radius.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is a series of free-roaming, corporeal, selectively aggressive Level 5 Humanoid Apparitions. Appearances of SCP-XXXX always consists of one instance of SCP-XXXX-1, twelve instances of SCP-XXXX-2, and a sound of unknown origin labeled SCP-XXXX-3. SCP-XXXX-3 can be heard at a gradually increasing volume for a period of between approximately 45 23 minutes and 1 hour and 14 minutes before the appearances of SCP-XXXX-1 and -2.

SCP-XXXX-1 is an apparition resembling an African-American officer of the United States Army, dressed in the uniform of the American Civil War period. Witness reports to SCP-XXXX-1 give a consistent appearance. Notable recurring features of SCP-XXXX-1 include a prominent scar over its right eye, a close cropped beard, the possession of a saber with a dull grey hilt, and the apparent ownership of a black horse. It is unknown if SCP-XXXX-1 can dismount from this horse. SCP-XXXX-1 has not been successfully identified with any officers from the American Civil War period.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a series of 12 apparitions resembling enlisted soldiers of the United States Army, dressed in the uniform of the American Civil War Period. Witness reports of SCP-XXXX-2 give them inconsistent appearances, though incidences tend to appear to be of African-American descent at a rate of approximately 83%.

SCP-XXXX-3 is a sound resembling a drumroll on a snare drum. The source of SCP-XXXX-3 is unknown. No instances of SCP-XXXX-1 or -2 have been reported as carrying or playing a musical instrument of any kind. SCP-XXXX-3 will continue until the completion of SCP-XXXX's mission, upon which point it will stop abruptly, or until the successful completion of Procedure 087-Hague, upon which point it will fade out gradually.

The apparent goal of all instances of SCP-XXXX is the killing of individuals working towards the ideology of racial supremacy. Exceptions have been documented, see Incident XXXX-861.

After SCP-XXXX has successfully executed its target, it may leave an instance of a black residue identified as SCP-XXXX-4. The makeup of this residue has not been determined, but it contains non-insignificant amounts of sulfur and potassium nitrate. Instances of SCP-XXXX-4 do not contain original writings, but are always excerpts from other works. Exceptions have been documented, see Incident XXXX-868.

To date, attempts to fully contain SCP-XXXX have proven ineffectual, although procedure 087-Hague has led to a drop in fatalities attributed to SCP-XXXX. All aspects of SCP-XXXX seem to be impervious to physical damage. Hostile action towards SCP-XXXX do not prompt a hostile reaction from SCP-XXXX. No known connections between any dead members of the United States army and SCP-XXXX have been discovered. Incidences of SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 are so far unable to be recorded on camera. Incidences of SCP-XXXX-3 do not appear on any attempted sound recordings.

SCP-XXXX only appears in areas that saw conflict during the American civil war. States that saw more conflict during the war are subject to more incidents involving SCP-XXXX, with the two states subject to the most reported incidents being Virginia and Tennessee. The first reputable incidence of SCP-XXXX dates to December of 1915, although unconfirmed reports date to the late 1860s.
