Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained in a concrete room lined with lead and Iridium. The room is to contain a singular table in the center with a chair on either side of it, the table and chairs are to be bolted to the floor with two bolts per point contacting the floor. The door must weigh at least 246 Lbs and be airtight, the door is to be locked and controlled with high strength magnets. Personnel entering the room must have level 4 clearance and be accompanied by at least 4 armed guards.
Description:
Instances of SCP-XXXX are a species of anomalous humanoid entities who exist solely to attempt create instances of SCP-XXXX-A. Instances of SCP-XXXX appear as a black humanoid wearing a white porcelain mask with a drawn on face, the face on the mask differs from instance to instance, however, all masks lack drawings of eyes, where eyes would be are instead holes, allowing a view of SCP-XXXX's glowing yellow eyes.
Instances of SCP-XXXX go through active and inactive periods, becoming un-percievable to the naked human eye, as well as all technology when inactive, and being plainly visible during their active periods. While inactive, instances of SCP-XXXX will drop off of the foundations radar, disappearing entirely until their active phase starts. It is currently unknown what triggers SCP-XXXX's active phase, but it is theorized that it may have something to do with its favourite prey.
During their active phase, instances of SCP-XXXX will wander populated areas at night, appearing in the dreams of nearby humans, according to firsthand accounts, they appear more hostile and "scary looking" in the dreams of people than they appear normally. The instance will continue to wander, appearing in humans dreams until it decides upon a suitable target to create an instance of SCP-XXXX-A with. As of now, the foundation knows what constitutes a suitable target, if a human that has a dream caused by an instance of SCP-XXXX and is not jolted awake in fear, it is considered brave by the instance, and as such, the instance initiates a six day procedure, dubbed a "soul crushing event" by the foundation.
On the first day of a soul crushing event the instance of SCP-XXXX will appear to its target, just outside of view, in an attempt to make the target uneasy and stressed.
On the second day of the event, the instance will begin appearing in reflective surfaces around the target, but when the target looks to where the instance should be, it is gone. This is caused by an unknown anomalous quality of SCP-XXXX.
On the nights of the third and fourth days, members of the targets family will be murdered in their sleep, the number of family members seems to determine how many of them are killed per night. The method of murder varies, some bodies recovered have been burned, while some have been dismembered with some body parts missing. The goal of these actions appears to be the continued degradation of the targets bravery and spirit.
On the night of the fifth day after the entire family of the target has been killed, the instance will force the target to sleep and remove one of their ears.
On the final day the instance of SCP-XXXX will appear to the target and request a duel. The instance is vague when speaking of the duel, and uses very broken English. If the target refuses they will be killed instantly by the instance, using its claw like hands to remove their head, cursing the human for being cowardly.
If the target human accepts the duel, the instance will lead them outside of the town and offer them a choice. The choice is between a handgun and a sword appearing to be of Japanese origin. No matter the choice the target makes, the instance will kill them with the weapon that they did not choose, it appears as though the choice is redundant, as instances will always kill the target with a 100% chance of success.
The foundation became aware of the existence of SCP-XXXX following the second world war, when high ranking Cpt.[redacted], and his entire family went missing. The foundation kept close observation on retired army personnel and found many of them to be targets for SCP-XXXX instances.
If a instance of SCP-XXXX is thought to be targeting someone, MTF SCE-1 is to be deployed to observe the Soul Crushing Event, but under no circumstances are to attempt to save the target or their family. A failure to comply will cause the instance of SCP-XXXX to [DATA EXPUNGED]
From the years 1945 to 2001 the foundation was unaware of SCP-XXXX's attempts to create instances of SCP-XXXX-A until a Soul Crushing Event was witnessed by MTF SCE-1 in which the instance succeeded in creating a SCP-XXXX-A.
The following Addendum is a log taken by a member of MTF SCE-1 while witnessing the creation of a SCP-XXXX-A.
