Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are to be stored in a 20cm x 20 cm x 5 cm locked container. Only personnel of security 5 are allowed to open the container unless personnel are given permission by a security 5 personnel. Due to the inanimate and non-threatening nature of SCP-XXXX, no surveillance is required.
Description: [Paragraphs explaining the description]
SCP-XXXX-1 are a pair of 1.5 cubic centimeter dice and are indistinguishable, in appearance, to an average thermoset plastic pair of dice. However, SCP-XXXX-1 are slightly denser (1.23g/cm^3) than average dice (1.21g/cm^3 +- 0.005g/cm^3). This density difference is unnoticeable to the user when compared with normal dice. SCP-XXXX-1’s anomalous properties are their ability to land on the exact number the user wants them to. This ability is only granted to the person physically throwing the object. It is unknown whether SCP-XXXX-1’s physical properties allow it to tumble into the position of what the thrower is thinking, or if the thrower is granted the physical ability to roll the dice perfectly in their favor. Further tests are pending approval.
SCP-XXXX-2 is a small folded paper, 15cm x 7cm, which contains instructions for SCP-XXXX-1 [See Addendum 2 for details]. The instructions describe a ritual that must be undertook in order to ‘activate’ the pair of dice. It is assumed that once the dice are activated, the ritual won’t be required again. Analysis on the paper and ink suggests it had been produced in the late 20th century. After further examination, researchers found traces of alcoholic drinks and human blood stained into the paper.
Addendum 1:
Initial discovery and location of SCP-XXXX on 6/12/97:
SCP-XXXX had caught the SCP Foundation’s attention when it had heard of a non-random dice being used to win bets at bars in Amarillo, TX. The foundation apprehended the individual in possession of both SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2, which he claimed to have found under a pool table at a local bar. The individual was given an amnestic and the item was removed from his possession. No other civilians were given amnesiacs due to the description of SCP-XXXX-1 being brushed off as drunken folklore.
