Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard equine stable, built on the east wall of Research Facility 812. At least two armed guards are to be present outside the stable at all times.
For the most part, SCP-XXXX only requires typical care for that of a non-anomalous member of its species. However, due to its anomalous properties, it requires assistance with feedings an hydration, most often through a standard feed bag and water bowls held by its caretakers.
For the ease of staff and the specimen, caretakers and researchers may refer to SCP-XXXX as "Bess" while directly speaking to it or giving it commands. However, proper designation is to be used in all other situations.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a female Equus africanus asinus, otherwise known by the names donkey or ass. It appears to be approximately twelve years old, and although it is slightly overweight, it is otherwise in fair health for its age.
SCP-XXXX appears to have a greatly deformed body. Its skeletal system is significantly changed, with its spine on its underside, and its stomach on the top of the animal, effectively creating an "upside-down" torso. External fur coloration and body composition matches this, including reproductive systems. Specimen's leg bones only have three segments, as opposed to five, to compensate for lower leg sockets, and legs are developed backwards. SCP-XXXX's tail is beneath the anus, leaving it exposed.
The specimen's neck is elongated, likely due to the spine's lower position. It curves upward, with a mane typical of donkeys growing on it's underside, and esophagus and throat above. SCP-XXXX's head, like it's legs, is faced in the reverse direction, looking over it's body. This body structure does not seem to cause significant discomfort, and SCP-XXXX is well adjusted to it's movement, although an inability to keep balance while running may have contributed to it's weight gain.
SCP-XXXX is quiet and well-tempered, and enjoys human company. Long periods with lack of interaction with it's caretakers leads to depressive symptoms. However, specimen reacts very negatively to the presence of male equines. Exposure to a male mule during testing resulted in SCP-XXXX becoming violently angry and [DATA EXPUNGED]. Mule was removed from testing area after suffering a broken leg and two broken ribs, and Dr. Leon was placed in quarantine until the stench of [REDACTED] could be cleansed.
Addendum: Three months after initial containment, one of SCP-XXXX's caretakers noticed an abnormality in the specimen's stomach. Caretaker noted that there appeared to be a growth leaning to the left side. Testing has revealed that SCP-XXXX is pregnant. It is unknown when or how this occurred, but the developing foal appears to be non-anomalous and will be carried to term.
