Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
Due to the nature of SCP-XXX, containment of all instances is impossible. One instance , SCP-XXX-1 remains at site-17 willingly. However, all other instances should be considered hostile and under no circumstances should any sort of combat engagement be ordered.
If an instance of SCP-XXX is spotted, the sighting should be suppressed using aerosol release of class-C amnestics, which should be done as covertly as possible to avoid upsetting the events occurring nearby.
SCP-XXX-1 should be contained in a hemispherical room with a radius of 9 meters and a height of 6 meters to allow for safe operation of the temporal radiation emitters that allow the passage of time to be halted in the enclosure, as detailed in document XXX-1. There should be two sets of six of these pylons set equidistant from each other around the edge of the enclosure, and they should be wired in such a way that if one set of pylons fails, the other should immediately activate to sustain the temporal disruption field. If SCP-XXX-1 becomes hostile, a feedback loop should be initiated in the pylons which will flood the chamber with temporal radiation, theoretically killing or crippling the SCP-XXX organism as a whole.
In the event that SCP-XXX-1 is found to be absent from the chamber, 05-██ should be notified of an imminent possible XK-scenario and the appropriate action taken to avert the crisis.
Description: SCP-XXX is a four-dimensional being that manifests as a 2 meter tall humanoid. It appears to exist in multiple temporal states at any one moment, shifting between a seemingly infinite number of variations of an unidentified single human.
The inconstant form of the unidentified human is encased in a shifting crystalline carapace, which is incorporeal and blocks all known measuring instruments, rendering SCP-XXX instances invisible to everything but optical instruments.
When an instance of SCP-XXX appears, it can be anywhere at any time, under one condition: the circumstances for a major event is about to be conceived or avoided. The instance appears to feed off of the energy created by the creation or destruction of possible timelines. The more significant the timeline change, the more stable the instance will be, appearing to hold its unidentified humans current state for longer, and the crystalline carapace will remain in a single configuration for longer. It appears to require this energy to manifest in any area where time flows normally.
The currently contained instance of SCP-XXX, SCP-XXX-1, is capable of holding intelligent conversation, although it speaks with multiple variations of the same voice, presumably that of the shifting unidentified human. It refers to itself in the third person, and by the name of ‘The Shining Palm. A transcript of it’s conversion with Dr [REDACTED] is included below.
Interviewed: SCP-XXX-1
Interviewer: Dr. [REDACTED]
Foreword: Shortly after SCP-XXX-1 manifested in site-17 and during the construction of its chamber, Dr. [REDACTED] attempted to converse with it.
<Begin Log, Tuesday, 13:04 PM>
Interviewer: Can you understand me?
SCP-XXX-1: We understand more than you can. The Shining Palm is more than you can understand. We are all and none. We are more than time. And yet you provide refuge. We thank you for the rest your technology provides. We will remain here until a greater energy must draw us away.
Interviewer: You’re more than welcome. Why are you here? What do you want?
SCP-XXX-1: We feed from the possibility this earth has to offer. Without it, we must settle for the movement of the stars. It bores us. Your organisation has preserved this planet in so many timelines, and we will cling to your successful timelines. To observe, to feed on the possibilities your organisation creates in the timeline. We offer warning if death approaches this earth. Warning, but no more.Interviewer: You mean that if there is an event that could destroy the world, you’ll warn us?
SCP-XXX-1: Our presence here is foresight. In the tree of time, your organisation is the water that keeps the fire at bay. We can provide warning, but should such an event prove inevitable, we shall leave to feed upon what happens and must happen.
Interviewer: I’ll take that as a yes. Might I ask, who were you?
SCP-XXX-1: We have always, will always and forever exist. But once at one moment, one burning moment, we were human. Now we exist as beyond time, as that human’s possibilities and ourselves. There is nothing more to it. The Shining Palm is eternal.
Interviewer: My time’s up. Thank you, Mr. … Shining Palm.
SCP-XXX-1: Correct. We are to remain for further questions if necessary.<End Log>
Closing Statement: SCP-XXX-1 was cooperative with further questioning about it’s purpose and origin, describing itself as a ‘scout' for other manifestations of its organism.
SCP-XXX-1 appears to have knowledge of future events and should be questioned in the event we have a possible XK scenario occurring. Aside from this, other interview requests, are denied until further notice due to the expense of providing a temporal disruption traversal rig for access to SCP-XXX-1’s chamber.
Addendum: In the event that SCP-XXX-1 ceases to cooperate, destructive and invasive testing is authorised to replicate it’s precognitive abilities. Once this is successful, the field generators should be disabled and the chamber flooded with temporal radiation and sealed, as it is more cost-efficient than to keep SCP-XXX-1 contained.
