Item #: SCP-####

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be stored in a secured lock-box at Site 76. Articles of SCP-#### are to be kept in a cardboard sleeve, and are to be stored in a file storage box away from direct sunlight when not in use. When not in an active state (designated as SCP-####-A) SCP-#### requires no custom security procedures, but should still be handled with care. Articles of SCP-#### can only be checked out with approval from Level 3 staff or higher.

Foundation is to monitor online auctions, classifieds, and other resale e-commerce sites for instances SCP-####. In the event that a public performance or transmission of SCP-####-A occurs, Mobile Task Force Eta-11 ('Savage Beasts') is to be dispatched to disrupt the event and contain SCP-####. Class B amnesiatics are approved for those affected by an SCP-####-A event, though depending on specific effects of the SCP-####-A event, amnesiatics may not be warranted.

When performing an experiment with SCP-####, it is to be enclosed in a sound-proof room. No personnel are allowed to listen to an SCP-####-A event, except D-Class personnel pre-screened and approved for testing. No Foundation personnel are allowed to be present in a room during an SCP-####-A event, except those with FDCP-35A status. SCP-#### should be activated remotely on approved Foundation devices. No audio transmissions of SCP-####-A are allowed in the presence of Foundation personnel, except as mentioned above. Any D-Class personnel undergoing testing must undergo psychiatric evaluations, cognitive tests, and Meyers-Panning skills and aptitude testing before and after exposure to an SCP-####-A event.

Audio or video recordings of SCP-####-A events must be made on approved devices maintained per standards found in SCP-####-I. Audio or video recordings of SCP-####-A not made from a device in SCP-####-I are to be treated as a Class B cognitohazard, and must be destroyed as soon as possible. No digital recordings of SCP-####-A are to be made, whether they are copied directly, or as a copy from a device sanctioned within list SCP-####-I. If a digital recording of an SCP-####-A event is found, the recording is to be erased, written over a minimum of 1,024 times, and the hardware containing the recording is to be destroyed per digital protocol IT-739

When tests are performed on D-Class personnel using SCP-####, an audio recording must be made from a recording device from SCP-####-I. These audio recordings must then be manually transcribed by either D-Class personnel, or approved L1 personnel. Transcripts of the tests are to be kept on file, along with any cognitive, psychological, and Meyers-Panning skills and aptitude tests performed before and after tests.

Description: SCP-#### is a collection of 45 rpm vinyl records performed by ███████ and produced by ████████ Studios. After extensive investigations by Foundation staff, no records of ████████ or ████████ Studios can be found.

Chemical analysis tests have shown the records material to have the same chemical makeup as typical vinyl records produced at that time.

No two playbacks from SCP-#### are alike. If allowed to play, the song will exceed the play limit of normal 45 rpm records of its size.

SCP-#### was retrieved from an FCC raid on a pirate radio station in ██████ ██████, Connecticut in 19██. The raid was conducted after listeners complained of headaches, auditory and visual hallucinations, and other symptoms after listening to content on the pirate radio station. In the raid, the FCC confiscated equipment and some of the music collection, which included articles of SCP-####. The Foundation was brought in after an FCC clerk cataloging the records played one of them, and suffered extreme memory loss.

Description: SCP-####-1 is a recording of the song "What A Wonderful World (This Would Be). While the song sounds like a cover of the original by Sam Cooke, the lyrics do not match those performed by other artists. Song lyrics describe topics, events, persons, and areas of study specific to the listener. Upon hearing the lyrics, the listener loses any ability to remember anything related to that subjects described in the verses.

Effects of SCP-####-1 appear to last indefinitely. Listener can be retrained in subjects removed from their memory by SCP-####-1 with some difficulty. Retraining efforts similar to occupational therapy for stroke victims.

Autopsies on subjects exposed to SCP-####-1 show minute lesions in the brain tissue consistent with electrical shocks. Locations of lesions comparable to portions of the brain responsible for long term memory and portions highlighted in brain scans of others performing tasks in subjects mentioned in the songs.

While other records were seized with similar auditory-induced effects, this particular record has been studied more intensively for its potential amnesiatic and anti-memetic effects. However, due to the side effects of general loss of cognition and the unpredictable nature of the song lyrics, the use of this SCP for those purposes is rejected except under approval by O5 council.

Containment Addendum: After Incident SCP-####-K6329, the use of magnetic resonance imaging or similar technology to study SCP-####'s affects on the brain are strictly prohibited.
